The two stood there, the atmosphere somewhat awkward, partly due to unfamiliarity and partly due to their own awkwardness.
"Boss, come this way. I'm telling the truth, and I swear on my integrity."
Li Yiyi recognized the voice; she thought she had seen its owner before. Just as she was about to go see who it was, the person approached them.
Leading the way were Zhang San and Zhao Zhao, who seemed to be guiding the way, followed by two people dressed in matching outfits.
Based on the way the two people addressed each other, it's not hard to tell that Zhang San and Zhao Zhao must have reported someone.
Just as Li Yiyi thought it had little to do with her, she saw Li Su hiding behind the group. Their eyes met, leaving them speechless for a moment.
"Li Yiyi, do you want to go take a look? Zhang San and Zhao Zhao reported Li Hun."
The person reported was Li Hun.
If it's Li Hun, then it's related to her. Li Yiyi hasn't forgotten the last time Li Hun disappeared before her eyes, and the black bead on Li Hun's body.
The timing was perfect; without Li Su saying anything, Ma Mei and Li Yi automatically joined the queue.
Li Yiyi had her reasons for going, Ma Mei had her reasons for going, and Li Su had even more reasons for going.
Different reasons, same purpose, and a strange tacit understanding emerges.
Following along, they learned the whole story from Li Su. After Zhang San and Zhao Zhao pretended to be crazy and went home, they overcame their fears while looking for an opportunity.
To outsiders, the two were considered crazy, so they were kept under close watch. Under these circumstances, Zhang San and Zhao Zhao didn't have many opportunities to interact. Fortunately, as time went on, both families became somewhat lax, and Zhang San and Zhao Zhao found an opportunity when they weren't paying attention.
Upon meeting, the first thing the two did was seek revenge on Li Hun. It wasn't that Li Hun and his companions' legs wouldn't break—not in a subjective sense, but psychologically.
The leg injury they experienced had subconsciously led them to believe that their legs were broken.
Zhang San and Zhao Zhao were alright; both of them were determined and didn't go insane. They slowly started walking again. The other two, however, were truly insane and had truly broken their legs.
After making contact, Zhang San and Zhao Zhao thought for a long time and finally came up with a brilliant idea: doing what they hadn't done before was just as good now.
The matter of Li Su and the white powder will always be their breakthrough point.
Of course, the two of them alone were not enough; they needed a strong witness, and Li Su was such a witness. However, given what happened back then...
They couldn't help feeling guilty when they saw Li Su. If no one had called them out on it, they could have pretended they were right, but Li Su had made it clear to them.
Seeing Li Su reminded them of their own inaction.
It was clearly Li Su who helped them at first, but later they thought that Li Su was a girl and not as important as Li Hun, a boy. They pretended not to see what Li Su had gone through, as if they were blind.
The moment Zhang San and Zhao Zhao saw Li Su at Wu Daqiang and Kong Hua's house, they felt incredibly guilty and left without saying a word. Li Su looked completely bewildered.
After making inquiries for several days, I finally found out what had happened.
Actually, Li Su had harbored resentment towards Zhang San and Zhao Zhao for what they had done, but afterwards she didn't take it seriously anymore.
In truth, at most it's her father's fault for being crazy. He thought he was a savior and went to help Zhang San and Zhao Zhao's son, only to be betrayed in the end, and she ended up taking all the blame.
If given a second chance, Li Su was certain she wouldn't interfere recklessly again. Instead, she would prepare thoroughly and leave professional tasks to professionals.
After learning what had happened, Li Yiyi and Ma Mei's eyes gleamed with excitement.
Life is unpredictable. It's truly unimaginable that one second the two of them were speechless, and the next second they were harmoniously gossiping together.
Li Hun's right eye kept twitching; he had a feeling that something bad was about to happen.
After returning home inexplicably, his mood worsened day by day. His leg, which had been healed, was now truly broken—absolutely, truly broken.
Just like Zhang San and the others, their legs looked fine on the outside, but they couldn't move them at all.
Having never left his room, Li Hun seemed to have returned to his previous life, spending every day and night in his room, with all his food provided by his mother.
Li Hun was no longer concerned about his mother's change in attitude; all he knew was that what he was so proud of was gone—the black bead had disappeared after that day.
His leg really won't heal.
The conclusion had already been reached in his mind, and Li Hun seemed to have begun to accept his fate, but every time he woke up from the dream, he couldn't help but want the black bead to appear.
After prayer comes reality, and after reality comes prayer again.
Day after day, Li Hun did the same things. In a short period of time, his young face aged considerably. When his mother called him out, his first instinct was to shield his eyes from the light.
"Mother, what's the matter that you called me for?"
"Li Hun, someone has reported you. Come out here."
Li's mother pursed her lips and called Li Hun out. Standing in the courtyard were Zhang San and Zhao Zhao. She recognized these two men. Seeing them reminded her of another old friend, her daughter Li Su.
Her hand clenched and then relaxed. Li's mother then left Li Hun's room, looking behind Zhang San and Zhao Zhao. There were no familiar figures, nor any other familiar faces.
She looked away, unsure whether it was disappointment or something else; how could she still have any hope? It was she who didn't want her.
"It's you."
As soon as Li Hun came out, he recognized Zhang San and Zhao Zhao. The two men had clear eyes and calm expressions, and they didn't look at all like the crazy person he had secretly observed.
