Chapter 98 Performance Art of Laying Out the Floor

He smacked his lips, suppressed his nausea, and brought the smell to his nose. Li Laosi's face instantly turned as black as ink.

It smells like toad oil.

In the whole family, only Wang Yiting knew how to use it. Zhao Dahua never bought it because she didn't have the money. Jiang Yuting only used face cream.

It was already broad daylight, and things were more visible and clearer.

The soil beside him was fresh. One, two, three—there were three spots. His heart pounded faster and faster; Li Laosi even forgot about the stains on his clothes.

Looking back at the wall, there were no fresh marks, which put my mind at ease.

Looking at what lay before him, and seeing that several doors were still tightly shut, Li Laosi suddenly mustered his courage, strode into the yard, and started digging with an axe as if it were a hoe.

Hoes and similar tools were kept in the production team's tool shed; private individuals were not allowed to own them.

Li Yiyi and the others had it; it was bought by Li Laoda with industrial vouchers for Li Yiyi to use in cooking.

So engrossed in digging that he lost track of time, Li Laosi didn't even notice that Li Laotai had already come out.

From a distance, Old Lady Li couldn't see who it was, but she could make out a figure digging something next to the outhouse.

latrine

Her heart leaped into her throat. As Old Mrs. Li entered the house to call for Old Mr. Li, she didn't stop talking.

"Thief! Catch the thief!"

Responding immediately, perhaps because they both harbored guilty consciences, Li Lao Er and Li Lao San were the first to rush out the door.

Looking around, he saw Li Laosi next to the outhouse.

Like Old Lady Li, the hearts of Li Lao Er and Li Lao San soared.

A kick landed on his back, and Li Laosi collapsed to the ground, his mouth and face covered in dirt. A human face appeared on the ground.

[Li Laosi was caught red-handed, and not wanting us to work for nothing, he put on a performance art piece of laying the floor.]

[You know what, the footprints on the ground have noses and mouths; Li Laosi is quite good-looking.]

Performance art—Li Laoda has learned a new term.

"Li Laosi, what are you doing?"

A casual glance at the scene left Li Lao Er and Li Lao San feeling like they were being tickled.

I found where I hid my money.

Old Man Li was the same; Old Woman Li gave him even more specific instructions, and he ran out before he was even properly dressed.

He also saw where he had hidden his money.

For a moment, the group fell silent, wary of each other, glaring angrily at Li Laosi. Old Man Li refused to believe it.

"What are you doing, Fourth Brother?"

You can guard against anything, but it's hard to guard against a thief within your own family. This was something Old Man Li hadn't considered. He had thought that his second and third sons might want his money for his funeral, but he never imagined that his fourth son would want it too.

"Father, listen to me."

The axe was still in his hand, covered in mud; no amount of explanation from Li Laosi could justify his actions.

"Old woman, go and check on the fourth son's room."

Only Old Lady Li knew about the gold; Old Man Li only trusted Old Lady Li.

"Second brother, third brother, you two go dig. I want to see what fourth brother has hidden. Eldest brother, you go and watch fourth brother."

He only hid the money in one spot; there were two extra. The fourth brother went to one, leaving one. There must be one of the three brothers (Li the Second or Li the Third) who hid the money there.

With Old Man Li watching them, it would be difficult for Li Lao Er and Li Lao San not to make a move.

They each chose a spot that wasn't where they had hidden their money and started digging.

[Digging and digging, digging next to the tiny outhouse, I dug up a big surprise, I...]

A gust of wind blew by, and Li Yiyi smelled a foul odor—the familiar smell of a latrine.

"Dad, take me away quickly, Uncle has poop on him."

All eyes turned to Li Laosi; his sense of smell, which he had lost due to nervousness, had returned.

"Ugh~"

It was the sound of Li Laosan vomiting. He was closest to Li Laosi and could clearly see some stains on Li Laosi's clothes, as well as a wriggling little thing.

A long tail, leaving tracks wherever it crawls.

"Fourth brother, get out of here! Did you fall into the latrine?"

Despite falling into the latrine, Li Laosan still had the nerve to talk about it. As one event after another connected, Li Laosi became certain of one thing: he had plotted to frame him.

"Dad, I dug it out, there's money inside."

Li Lao Er dug the pit where Li Lao Tou hid his money, but what he found wasn't what he expected. Li Lao Tou's smile faded, and he stared intently at what Li Lao Er was holding.

"Dad, I dug it out too, there's money inside."

As soon as they approached, Li Lao Er recognized the money in Li Lao San's hand as his own, and Li Lao San also recognized the money in Li Lao Er's hand as his own.

My eyes were filled with astonishment. How did my money end up in his trap?

[Stunned, aren't you? Shocked? Now you're cross-eyed!]

Look, Old Li's eyes are shining. Does he think his golden pot is in another pit?

Forget about it. Once you enter my space, it belongs to me, Li Yiyi.

La la la la la, la la la la la....

Without making a sound, he turned Li Yiyi towards the wind, as Boss Li didn't want the piercing noise to reach his ears.

"Ugh~"

"Dad, it's windy here, I'm going to throw up."

What a huge, walking stench generator! Why was her father so close? He quickly walked away, and Old Li felt sorry for her.

Suddenly, Li Yiyi's eyes widened, staring intently at Li Laosi, and she asked with genuine confusion.

"Fourth Uncle, you have bugs on you. Aren't you afraid they'll eat you?"

Looking down, he saw the little creature unique to the outhouse. Li Laosan turned around and vomited, which landed right in the pit that Li Laoer and Li Laosan had just dug.

It was the pit that Old Man Li had held onto hope for.

A sour, foul smell clung to the hands of Li Lao Er and Li Lao San.

"Li Laosi".

The sound was so loud that Li Yi suspected it would have blown away any birds in the tree.
