Chapter 481
Ye Fuyue understood her very well. Everyone is afraid of unknown things.
Ye Fuyue pondered Cui Li's question and said, "You can go to the south. Chen Kang and Li Hanwei are there. Li Hanwei is also a public security officer. You can ask Li Hanwei to help you more in the early stages."
When Li Hanwei and Shen Kang got married, they invited Cui Li to the wedding. Given her admiration for Cui Li, she probably wouldn't refuse to help her.
Thinking of Li Hanwei, Cui Li felt less anxious.
In a strange city, as long as there is someone you know, it doesn’t seem so scary anymore.
"I suggest that if you want to sell your house, you should sell the one you bought first. You bought that one earlier and it was cheaper, and its price must have increased a lot now. You should keep the one you live in now for now, so that if you want to come back to Hsinchu City, you will have a place to stay." Ye Fuyue said again.
Cui Li became more and more moved as she listened to Ye Fuyue's words, and a look of excitement appeared on her face.
She nodded vigorously. "Okay. Anyway, my relationship with my family isn't good, so I'm free and worry-free. It wouldn't be a bad idea to take Laibao and Huandi to the south to try my luck and see the world. Just like Fuyue said, I still have a way out. I still have the apartment I live in now."
Ye Fuyue also nodded and said, "Yes."
Zhong Lan, who had been silent the whole time, said thoughtfully, "Should I go south with Cui Li?"
Cui Li was stunned for a moment and asked Zhong Lan: "Are you going too?"
"I'm thinking about it." Zhong Lan said.
Cui Li's face was filled with joy. "It would be great if you could come with me. We could look after each other again. You have a good relationship with your family. I thought you wanted to stay in Hsinchu City to be closer to them, so I didn't ask if you wanted to go south too."
"I do want to be closer to my family, but even if I am in Hsinchu City, I only go back home during the Chinese New Year and other holidays. Besides, I have brothers and sisters-in-law at home. If anything really happens to my parents, they will take the lead. I can stay in Hsinchu City or go to the south. But if I go to the south, then the bun shop..." Zhong Lan looked at Ye Fuyue.
Ye Fuyue smiled and said, "Don't worry about that. I'll find someone else, or close the bun shop."
"It's closed?" Zhong Lan and Cui Li said in unison in astonishment.
Ye Fuyue was worried that the two of them would feel burdened and think that she was closing the shop because they were leaving. Ye Fuyue said truthfully, "You two should have noticed that I basically don't care about the shop anymore. I only get involved when it comes to important matters. I've thought about closing the shop before, but if you two quit, I'll do it. The furniture shop and the rent from the house are enough for me every month. I don't have to work so hard anymore. I can just relax and drink tea and daydream every day."
Zhong Lan and Cui Li also laughed when they heard her say that.
"It's really wonderful to have days without having to work and just leisurely drink tea and daydream." Zhong Lan said.
Cui Li nodded: "If I can live like this in the future, my life will be complete."
Ye Fuyue smiled sweetly and said, "Keep working hard in the South. You can do it too."
Zhong Lan and Cui Li nodded and smiled with hope.
The decision to go to the South was thus made.
As Ye Fuyue had predicted, Cui's parents were given a lecture by the police and released. After all, they hadn't caused any substantial damage to the bun shop, so the police had no reason to detain them any longer.
After Cui's parents were released from the police station, they continued to go to the bun shop and Cui Li's residence to stake out Cui Li. Every day, they stared at Cui Li like a criminal, asking her to give them money.
Cui Li was opposing her parents on the surface, but secretly she and Zhong Lan were preparing to go to the south.
To keep Cui Li and Zhong Lan from knowing they were going south, they didn't tell anyone, including their three children. Zhong Lan did, however, inform her family ahead of time and ask them not to tell anyone.
Every day, the two of them went to the bun shop to sell buns and sweet drinks as usual.
They had asked Ye Fuyue to help them sell the first two houses they bought. They had also taken Ye Fuyue's advice and decided not to sell the two houses they were currently living in. If their bun shop in the south was successful, they would ask Ye Fuyue to help them rent them out.
Cui Li wrote a letter and asked Ye Fuyue to help send it to Li Hanwei. In the letter, she explained that she and Zhong Lan were going to the south to develop their careers, and tactfully mentioned that if Li Hanwei was free, could she help them find a place to stay first.
Li Hanwei didn't reply, but called directly.
Since Cui Li and Zhong Lan didn't have a phone, Li Hanwei called Ye Fuyue's home and excitedly said that she was very convenient. She also sorted out the places with larger flow of people, more schools, and more workers for Cui Li and Zhong Lan to refer to.
When Ye Fuyue relayed what Li Hanwei had sorted out to Zhong Lan and Cui Li, they both became even more excited about going to the South.
After nearly half a month of preparation, Cui Li and Zhong Lan left home late at night when Cui's father and mother were taking a nap against the wall.
As the sky gradually brightened, the two of them and their three children boarded a train to the south.
Cui's father and mother waited by the wall until morning, but Cui Li didn't come out. They thought she had left while they were dozing off. So, as usual, they went to the bun shop to look for Cui Li.
However, this time, when they arrived at the bun shop, the door was locked.
The old customers of the bun shop were as puzzled as they were.
"Why are you closed today?"
"I didn't hear Zhong Lan and Cui Li say yesterday that they were closed today."
"I got up early to buy some buns, but the shop was closed. Sigh, they didn't even let me know in advance."
Cui's father and mother looked at each other suspiciously, and both of them suddenly had a bad feeling in their hearts.
They had been pestering Cui Li for so long, and had even caused trouble several times at the bun shop, deliberately asking Cui Li to give them money in front of customers. The bun shop hadn't closed at that time, so why would it be closed today?
The two men then remembered that they did not see Cui Li coming out of the house, so they immediately went back to the house to look for Cui Li.
"Cui Li—Cui Li—" Cui's father knocked on the door heavily and shouted.
Just when his hands were starting to hurt from clapping, the door finally opened from the inside.
"Cui..." Father Cui was stunned after just calling out one word.
The person who came out of the house was not Cui Li, but Ye Fuyue who was holding Xiaobai's hand.
"Why are you knocking? You broke the door. Can you afford to pay for it?" Ye Fuyue glared at Cui's father.
"Why is it you?" Cui's mother frowned and asked, "Where's Cui Li? She must be in there."
"This is my house. Isn't it natural for me to be here?" Ye Fuyue said calmly.
She had to carry out Cui Li's original lie.
After a pause, Ye Fuyue continued, "Cui Li isn't in there. She's given up the lease and left."
"Gone?!" Cui's mother's voice became sharp: "Where did she go?!"
"How would I know? She doesn't need to tell me where she's going." Ye Fuyue said.
"Stop talking nonsense!" Cui's father said in disbelief, "Cui Li still wants to work in your bun shop. How could she possibly leave?"
Ye Fuyue squinted at him. "You should have been to the bun shop before, and you should have seen that it's closed today. Not only is it closed today, it won't be open in the future. You've been following Cui Li around every day, affecting the business. I've fired Cui Li, stopped renting the house to her, and closed the bun shop."
Cui's father and mother were dumbfounded. They could not believe that Cui Li disappeared and the bun shop closed in just one night.
"Impossible!" Cui's father said sullenly, "How could such a good shop be closed just like that? Where did Cui Li go? You must know!"
"It's my shop. I can close it whenever I want. If you don't believe me, go wait for Cui Li in front of the shop every day."
After Ye Fuyue finished speaking, she was too lazy to talk nonsense with them and left with Xiaobai.
Cui Li and Zhong Lan couldn't take Xiaobai to the south, so Xiaobai would be raised by her from now on.
Cui's father and mother still found it hard to accept that Cui Li was gone. They stood there in a daze for a moment and even forgot to chase Ye Fuyue.
They didn't believe it, so they went to wait in front of the bun shop again, but they waited until Ye Fuyue came to the bun shop and pasted a piece of paper on the closed door.
They were illiterate and only realized after hearing other customers read it that the paper said the bun shop was closing and out of business, and was looking for a new tenant.
The regular customers of the bun shop were dumbfounded and they all grabbed Ye Fuyue and asked her questions.
"How can a good shop be closed just like that?"
"This is too sudden! They were still selling buns yesterday, and they're closed today."
Ye Fuyue sighed helplessly, "I don't want to close it either, but they stare at Cui Li from across the street every day, and come to the bun shop to cause trouble for Cui Li from time to time. How can I make money running the shop? I might as well just close it."
"What about Na Li and Zhong Lan? Now that their bun shop is closed, are they going to sell buns on bicycles like before?" asked a regular customer.
"No, they went to find jobs elsewhere. We don't sell buns and sweet water anymore." Ye Fuyue said.
"Then I won't be able to eat your buns and sweet drinks anymore?"
"Your sweet water is the best I've ever tasted. Where else can I find such delicious sweet water in the future?"
The customers expressed their regret.
When they noticed Mr. and Mrs. Cui in the crowd, the old customers who were familiar with the situation began to blame them.
"It's all your fault! You two ruined our bun shop. Are you happy now?"
"If Cui Li hadn't met Comrade Ye, would she have had the guts to divorce and live on her own with her two children? You two never cared about her life or death, and now you have the nerve to ask her for living expenses, and three thousand at a time! You two can just rob her on the street."
"If I were Cui Li, I'd quit my current job and stay away from you two! Having parents like that is unfortunate for anyone."
Faced with the accusations, Cui's parents were no longer in the mood to argue with everyone. They just wondered blankly: Is Cui Li really gone? Where could she go?
Unable to accept this, the two waited outside the bun shop for a few days, hoping to catch Cui Li. However, they only waited until the bun shop was rented out to a new business owner and the original sign was taken down.
The two returned to Cui Li's house to wait for her, but were told by a neighbor who knew them well that Cui Li and Zhong Lan were both gone, and both houses were empty, with only a female comrade coming to take care of them occasionally.
Cui's father and mother sat down on the ground dejectedly, and only then did they accept the fact that Cui Li was really gone.
However, they were unwilling to give up.
They have been waiting for Cui Li here for so long, sleeping on the streets every day in the sun and rain, but they have gained nothing. They are unwilling to go back to their hometown like this.
So they went to find Ye Fuyue, trying to find out from her where Cui Li had gone.
Ye Fuyue showed no mercy this time and beat up Cui's father and mother. She told them, "I don't know where Cui Li has gone. Every time you come to look for me, I will beat you up."
Cui's father and mother also wanted to go to the police and ask them to give them justice.
But no one saw Ye Fuyue hitting them, and Ye Fuyue did not admit it, so the matter was left unresolved.
Cui's father and mother still didn't give up. They were like indestructible cockroaches and continued to harass Ye Fuyue.
Ye Fuyue was fed up and didn't want to do it herself, so she just paid two thugs to beat them up every time Cui's parents showed up. They kept beating them up until they were so scared that they went back to their hometown in disgrace and never showed up in front of Ye Fuyue again.
On the third day after Cui Li and Zhong Lan left, Ye Fuyue received a call from them. They told Ye Fuyue that they had arrived in Yangcheng safely, met Li Hanwei, and moved into the house that Li Hanwei had rented for them in advance.
The second week after Cui Li and Zhong Lan left, Ye Fuyue received a call from them. They had taken a fancy to a shop and planned to open a bun shop like the one in Zhushi, and asked Ye Fuyue for her opinion.
In the first month after Cui Li and Zhong Lan left, Ye Fuyue received a call from them, saying that their bun shop had been renovated and would open the next day.
In the second month after Cui Li and Zhong Lan left, Ye Fuyue received a call from them. Their bun shop business was pretty good, and they made more money in the first month than they did in a month in Hsinchu City.
Four months after Cui Li and Zhong Lan left, Ye Fuyue received a call from them. Their bun shop was doing so well that some people were jealous and were causing trouble. Fortunately, Li Hanwei helped them resolve the situation.
Six months after Cui Li and Zhong Lan left, Ye Fuyue received a call from them. They had moved closer to the bun shop, where Yao Zao'er, Lai Bao, and Huan Di could attend school. Cui Li had even changed Huan Di's name; it was now Cui Lai Xi.
Eight months after Cui Li and Zhong Lan left, Ye Fuyue received a call from them, asking them to help rent out their house in Hsinchu City.
The second year after Cui Li and Zhong Lan left, Ye Fuyue received a call from them. They had bought a shop together and planned to use it to open a bun shop.
Four years after Cui Li and Zhong Lan left, Ye Fuyue received a call from them. They had each bought a house in Guangzhou. They were apartments, just like before, right next to each other. They weren't big, but they finally had their own home in Guangzhou...
