Chapter 72

Chapter 72

"Don't buy me anything next time. Buy what you like." Shen Yao said.

Ye Fuyue still agreed verbally, but whether she would do it in the future was another matter.

"But I like the pen you bought for me, wife, and I cherish it very much." Shen Yao said solemnly.

Asking Ye Fuyue not to buy a gift is one thing, but Ye Fuyue has already bought it, so he still has to praise her and not hurt his wife's good intentions.

"Sister-in-law is so amazing! The gifts she picked are so beautiful!" Shen Shun said in a flattering voice.

Ye Fuyue glanced at him and said, "But without your gift, the money is not enough."

Ye Fuyue's words were half true and half false.

She did not have enough money, but she had never intended to buy a gift for Shen Shun from the beginning.

She bought it for Chen Guifeng because her mother-in-law was really good to her. Other daughters-in-law were like nannies, taking care of all the household chores, but in her family, the work was split between her and Chen Guifeng. Sometimes, Shen Yao and Shen Shun would also help out, doing a lot of the work. This was all because her mother-in-law, Chen Guifeng, taught her well and treated her like a real family member.

Buying it for Shen Yao, that goes without saying.

Shen Shun didn't like her at first, but later he changed his mind. But she and Shen Shun didn't interact much and didn't have much affection, so she naturally didn't think of buying a gift for Shen Shun.

When Shen Shun heard this, he felt a little depressed.

Chen Guifeng said to him, "You still want a gift? Is it easy for your sister-in-law to earn money? What do you want? When you finish your studies, you can earn money to buy it yourself."

Shen Yao nodded in agreement: "That's right. Didn't you do poorly on the exam again? You need to focus more on studying. Don't think that since there's no college entrance exam now, you're just coping with it every day. Our factory requires a high school diploma for recruitment. If you don't graduate from high school, you won't even be able to find a decent job."

"Your brother is right. Factories now have high educational requirements for recruitment. If you fail to get into high school and find a job, you won't even have food to eat in the future." Chen Guifeng also taught.

Shen Shun felt aggrieved.

He just wanted a gift, so why did he bring up studying and test scores? It felt like he was the only one whose world was broken.

The next day.

When Chen Guifeng went to work, she tied the silk scarf that Ye Fuyue gave her.

It was Ye Fuyue who taught her how to tie a scarf.

After tying it, Chen Guifeng turned left and right in front of the mirror, feeling happy and feeling that her complexion had improved a lot.

Ever since Shen Yao and their father passed away, she had been preoccupied with raising her three children and had no time to bother with dressing up. Now, looking at herself in the mirror, she actually saw a little bit of her younger self.

Chen Guifeng was suddenly filled with emotion, and a few tears welled up in the corners of her eyes.

She wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes with her hands and thought: Fu Yue still understands her better!

As soon as Chen Guifeng walked out of the door, people in the compound noticed the silk scarf tied around her neck.

"Afeng, what are you wearing around your neck?" asked Aunt Xie.

"This is a silk scarf that my daughter-in-law bought specially for me. She said it's very popular in the provincial capital, and the last batch of goods that the supply and marketing cooperative just received was sold out. This time, she snatched one just for me." Chen Guifeng said with great pride.

"Is this thing popular in the provincial capital?" Aunt Liang was unconvinced. "Wouldn't it be very tight to wear around your neck?"

"What do you know? My daughter-in-law said this is called popular and fashionable." Chen Guifeng glared at Aunt Liang and said, "If you don't believe me, go to the supply and marketing cooperative and see for yourself. Many salespeople are wearing this too."

"This is something young people wear. How old are you and why are you still wearing this?" said Aunt Xie.

"My daughter-in-law said that scarves come in all kinds of patterns and colors. Young people like those with lively and bright colors. Older people like those with calm and grand colors. Young people or old people all like scarves." Chen Guifeng brought up what Ye Fuyue had told her yesterday.

Aunt Liang and Aunt Xie felt so sad that they couldn't say anything to find fault.

Cui Yongfang came out with her slightly bulging belly and said with a smile, "Ye Fuyue is really thoughtful. If she was more thoughtful, she should have let you, Aunt Chen, hold your grandson sooner!"

When Aunt Liang heard this, she immediately agreed: "That's right! Although the silk scarf is nice, it's nothing compared to a grandson who can continue the family line!"

Chen Guifeng knew that the Liang and Yao families just couldn't stand her being better than them, and they wished everyone was inferior to them. However, everyone in this compound was like this.

When her husband died and she was left raising three sons alone, so many people felt sorry for her and laughed at her behind her back. Some even told her to just find another man to remarry and not suffer so much alone. Chen Guifeng was afraid that if she remarried, her three sons would be bullied, so she said she would never remarry.

Fortunately, her sons have grown up now and can protect her, and her life is getting better and better.

Chen Guifeng smiled and said, "Why are you in such a hurry? It's not like you can just give birth to a child and forget about it. Giving birth is just the first step. Raising a child who is healthy and has a promising future is the hardest part. Fu Yue and Shen Yao have only been married for less than a year. They haven't had enough of a simple life yet. If you rush to have a baby, you'll have no time to rest in peace in the future."

"Yongfang, you really made your mother-in-law's family proud." Chen Guifeng smiled and changed the subject: "But you should buy something for your mother-in-law sometime, so that she can have something else to show off besides your pregnancy."

After Chen Guifeng finished speaking, she didn't care how ugly Cui Yongfang and Aunt Liang's faces were, and she left with a smile.

"It's just a torn silk scarf. Look how proud she is of it. A silk scarf is more important than a baby!" Aunt Liang cursed at Chen Guifeng's receding back.

Aunt Xie turned around and went home.

Aunt Xie had nothing to brag about regarding her daughter-in-law's pregnancy and childbirth.

Zhong Lan and Yao Hong had been married for a year. Less than six months after their wedding, Zhong Lan's pregnancy began to develop. Unfortunately, she miscarried at three months. Since then, Zhong Lan's pregnancy has remained stable. Aunt Xie, displeased with being asked when Zhong Lan would get pregnant again and disliked hearing Aunt Liang brag about Cui Yongfang's pregnancy, so she left.

As time goes by, Ye Fuyue's life remains leisurely and boring.

Her daily life consists of washing clothes, cleaning the house, drawing furniture designs, reading books, and then going out for a walk.

That day, Ye Fuyue was tired of reading at home and wanted to go out for a walk.

Before she reached the gate of the compound, something suddenly hit her back, and it hurt quite a bit.
