Chapter 11 Going Fishing
“I also like Su Bao. I wish I could have a daughter like her, so sensible and considerate.”
When Zhao thought of Su Dai, she couldn't help but smile.
Qin Yulin hugged Zhao Shi: "Then let's try our best..."
Zhao blushed: "It's still daytime, don't do anything rash..."
Qin Yulin touched his hair sheepishly: "I won't do anything inappropriate, I just want you to sleep with me for a while."
——
After noon, the sun was no longer so scorching, and people gradually went back to work in the fields.
Qin and Zhao mixed the rice cakes with chili peppers and served each family member a bowl.
Su Dai loved it; the sour and spicy flavor made it impossible for him to stop eating.
Before I knew it, my belly had swelled up.
Su Dai let out a burp.
"Little sister, I heard that the river dam in Dahe Village was flooded this afternoon, and everyone went to catch fish. Shall we go and take a look? Do you want to come?"
When Zhao returned from outside, she smiled and said that she had just gone to the vegetable garden to pick some scallions when she heard this good news.
You might catch fish when the river dam is drained. Even if you don't catch any, those who have caught too many fish will sell them. It's much cheaper than in Liuzhou City, so it's worth buying a few fish to cook.
"The river dam is releasing water? Let's go too, we won't clear the weeds today."
Qin Yulin got excited when he heard this. He loved eating fish, so how could he miss out?
Upon hearing about catching fish, Su Dai's eyes lit up immediately, and he hugged Qin Shi and begged, "Mom, please, please, I want to catch fish, lots and lots of fish, I want to eat spicy dried fish."
In the Su family, Su Jinbao and Su Jingui have a sweet tooth, so many of the dishes at home are made to suit their tastes.
Su Dai actually prefers spicy food. These past few days at her grandmother's house, everyone's tastes are similar, and she has been extremely happy with the food.
The sweet and sour fish wasn't tasty at all; she was really looking forward to making it spicy.
My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
"You're still young..."
Qin was in a dilemma. Su Dai was only four years old and rather thin. She was worried that it would be unsafe for him to go down to the bottom of the dam, and she was also concerned that taking Su Dai with her would be a burden to her brother and sister-in-law.
"Uncle...I want to go too."
Su Dai immediately turned around and ran to Qin Yulin's side, hugging his leg and begging.
Qin Yulin looked down and saw that the little dumpling looked so pitiful, how could he refuse?
Qin Yulin bent down and picked up Su Dai, loudly agreeing, "Come on, Uncle will take you fishing. I'll tie you to my back, it'll be a piece of cake."
Su Dai happily hugged Qin Yulin's head and kissed him, then sweetly thanked him, "Thank you, Uncle."
"Alright, then you siblings and your sister-in-law go, your father and I won't go. We'll go to the fields and make sure Su Bao has a straw hat. The sun is strong right now, we don't want her to get sunburned."
Zhang said with a smile, offering a gentle reminder.
Qin Tianhai had no objection; he didn't particularly like eating fish, as it had too many bones.
I don't know why I had a son who loves to eat fish. Anyway, it doesn't cost much money. The dam only releases water a few times a year, so I just let him be.
Zhao took a few straw hats and smiled as she put them on Su Dai's head.
Su Dai was very well-behaved and wouldn't move around at this time. Zhao had never seen such a well-behaved child before, and she liked him more and more the more she looked at him.
Qin Yulin simply put Su Dai in the basket on his back and carried her away.
Zhao and Qin also carried baskets on their backs, inside which were water buckets.
Su Dai sat in the basket on his back, feeling that everything was extremely new and exciting.
The basket has gaps, which changes the view.
Uncle's steps were steady, with only a slight sway, so Su Dai fell asleep again.
Su Dai was awakened by a lot of noise and the sound of water.
The river is wide, and many people have come from neighboring villages and other villages.
The river dam has been drained, and the current water flow is gentle.
Everyone used either baskets or sieves to reserve a spot and wait for the fish to go into the baskets.
You can make some money, no matter how little.
Su Dai quickly said, "Uncle, put me down."
Su Dai stood up from the basket on his back and looked around curiously.
"Su Bao, don't rush. Let's go over there and save a spot first, then your uncle will put you down."
Qin Yulin said gently.
Su Dai pointed and said, "Uncle, let's go over there."
There's shade from the trees over there; it looks very cool.
"Okay, I'll do as Su Bao says."
Qin Yulin glanced at the location; it was on the outskirts of town, and no one had chosen it.
But since Su Dai had spoken, he didn't want to refuse at all.
If we can't catch him, so be it. As long as Su Bao is happy.
"Brother, don't let her have her way."
Qin was somewhat helpless. She was worried that Zhao would have objections, but when she looked, she found that her sister-in-law was more pleased than her elder brother.
"We're here to have fun anyway, a few fish won't cost much."
Qin Yulin said with a smile.
"Su Bao is so smart. She knows that it's not sunny there. It would be nice for us to catch some small fish. Su Bao can also move some stones on the edge to see if there are any crabs. When we get back, your aunt will fry some small crabs for you. They're so delicious."
Zhao's eyes were full of doting affection, and she felt that Su Dai was too clever.
"Little sister, let's hurry."
Zhao reached out and pulled Qin, worried that she wouldn't be used to walking.
Catching fish in the murky river is all about luck. The real excitement comes when the water clears up and you can see the fish jumping.
"Sick young man, short-lived ghost..."
A familiar voice reached Qin's ears. Qin stopped and looked over, and saw Su Jingui and Su Jinbao. She immediately frowned.
Old Mrs. Yang and Old Man Su brought them here to play.
"Pooh……"
When Old Madam Yang saw Madam Qin and Su Dai, she also spat out a mouthful of saliva, finding it unlucky.
Qin was too gentle and weak-willed to utter foul language.
Su Dai spat at Old Yang and the others, saying, "Pah, pah, pah, pah, pah, pah! I'll give you back everything you cursed me for!"
Su Jinbao and Su Jingui were the most impolite. Because they loved sweets, their teeth were almost completely rotten. It was only because of her blessing that they didn't have much pain.
Su Dai smiled and asked, "Do your teeth hurt?"
She has been gone from the Su family for many days. After the remaining good fortune dissipated, the Su family was no longer so lucky.
"Grandma, my tooth hurts. That sickly girl cursed me! Grandma, hit her!"
Su Jingui suddenly covered his mouth and started howling. He hated Su Dai. At such a young age, he already knew how to use his advantages to achieve his goals. He didn't really have a toothache, but wanted Old Yang to beat Su Dai.
Old Mrs. Yang immediately became angry: "You little short-lived devil, did you curse him?"
Su Dai made a face at Old Madam Yang: "Hehehe..."
Old Mrs. Yang was furious.
Qin Yulin glared at her with hostility: "You dare to hit my child and see what happens!"
Zhao rolled up her sleeves, her face full of hostility: "You old hag, you try and see if I can tear your rotten mouth apart!"
Old Man Su said coldly, "That's enough. She has nothing to do with us anymore. Why bother with her!"
"Hmph, let's go over there."
Old Madam Yang raised her chin and led Su Jinbao and Su Jingui to the other side.
Qin Yulin spat.
"Brother, sister-in-law, thank you."
Qin thanked them.
Zhao waved her hand: "It's no big deal, ignore them, pretend they don't exist, let's go our own way."
Zhao felt that her sister-in-law's personality was nothing like her mother-in-law's, but people have many faces, and perhaps after seeing more of her in the village, Qin would also be able to stand on her hips and scold people.
