Chapter 92 Qin Jin'an Wakes Up
"Qin Yulin!"
Zhao knew something was wrong when she heard Qin Yulin speak, so she shouted and called Qin Yulin by his full name.
But it was too late.
Qin Yulin, already looking like a jerk, reached out and pried open Qin Jin'an's eyelids.
"Yu Bao, have you seen your uncle?"
Qin Yulin smiled and moved closer to Qin Jin'an's eyes.
Zhao's breath hitched. Qin Yulin was such a simpleton; if his parents found out about this, he would definitely get a beating!
Zhao also came over and called softly, "Yu Bao, open your eyes, wake up quickly."
Qin Jin'an held her breath and finally focused her unfocused eyes. She looked at her uncle and aunt in front of her and rolled her eyes.
She was still having trouble speaking; it was very uncomfortable for her uncle to be holding her eyelids open like that.
After the frantic luck-changing, her health deteriorated further.
Qin Yulin watched as Qin Jin'an's eyes darted around, then grinned and said, "Lan'er, Yu Bao is awake."
Zhao Shi naturally noticed this as well, and she quickly removed Qin Yulin's hand, saying, "Yu Bao just woke up and is still feeling very unwell. Don't keep touching her eyes."
Qin Yulin released his grip.
Qin Jin'an blinked, feeling much more comfortable in his eyes.
"Yu Bao is so clever! Your aunt is feeding you delicious food. Your uncle is so mean, your aunt is kicking him out!"
Zhao smiled and continued feeding Qin Jin'an. Seeing Qin Yulin still standing there eating, Zhao gave him a naughty push.
Qin Yulin chuckled and said, "Yu Bao, take good care of yourself. You'll be able to eat again soon. Your uncle is going to get back to work."
Qin Yulin turned and left after saying that.
Zhao carefully fed Qin Jin'an a whole bowl of food and then wiped her hands clean.
After doing all that, I stayed with her, gave her a massage, and then carried her to the yard to sleep.
The weather in August is hot, but the mornings are still cool.
While tidying up at home, Zhao could also chat with Qin Jin'an.
Soon, the girls who came to work arrived one after another.
"Oh, Yu Bao is awake."
When someone noticed that Qin Jin'an had woken up, everyone gathered around to see her.
Qin Jin'an also looked at them, her gaze stopping when it landed on a girl.
Qin Xiaocui and Qin Jin'an exchanged glances, and Qin Xiaocui quickly lowered her head guiltily. Why was she looking at her like that? Did she already know that she was going to do something bad?
Qin Xiaocui felt a little panicked, but she quickly realized that Qin Jin'an could only move his eyes; he couldn't speak or get up. This reassured Qin Xiaocui a little.
As long as she isn't seen doing it, she'll take the medicine bottle with her. No one can find evidence to convict her!
"Get to work, get to work."
The girls, who knew each other well, sat down in their seats with laughter and started working efficiently.
They were already familiar with how to handle the fish, and each person had been assigned their specific task.
Zhao did not do anything too strenuous; she simply walked around checking and inspecting.
She would occasionally give Qin Jin'an some water to make sure she wasn't exposed to the sun.
She could only bask in the rising sun for a while; afterwards, Qin Jin'an was only allowed to lie half-reclined in a shady spot not far from the sun, and she would occasionally be turned over.
Zhao noticed that Qin Jin'an was looking in one direction, and that direction was towards a girl from the clan named Qin Xiaocui, who was fourteen years old.
Zhao knew that Qin Jin'an never acted strangely without a reason. Since she couldn't speak yet, Zhao leaned down and whispered, "Yu Bao, you've been looking at her. Is there something wrong with her? If so, blink twice."
Qin Jin'an blinked twice.
Her tongue seemed stiff, and she couldn't speak. She also tended to drool when she got anxious, so she wasn't in a hurry to speak.
But she saw something not so good in this girl.
Zhao understood the situation and reassured Qin Jin'an, "Yu Bao, don't worry, your aunt will take care of it."
Having received a positive answer, Zhao paid more attention to Qin Xiaocui.
Qin Xiaocui was torn between doing it or not.
If she did it, her conscience wouldn't allow it; if she didn't, she'd be miserable for the rest of her life.
Neither side of the scale was good for her. Her father, Qin Tianjiang's, words kept echoing in her mind: "Every man for himself, or the world will destroy him. If you don't do this, you and your sister will be taken away to pay off debts. Your sister is only twelve years old..."
Qin Xiaocui felt a lump in her throat. She tried her best to control her emotions, stood up and said to Zhao Shi, "Sister-in-law, I'm going to the outhouse."
Go to the outhouse, wash your hands, dissolve the medicine in your palm, and then come back to continue working. The medicine will quietly dissolve into the fish meat. When it's all mixed together, the medicine will be added.
She will leave no trace.
Zhao said calmly, "Go."
Qin Xiaocui got up and went to the backyard to use the outhouse.
After thinking for a moment, Zhao followed, thinking she could also use the outhouse while she was there.
If Qin Xiaocui were to try anything, she could catch her red-handed; catching a thief red-handed is the rule.
The others were unaware of this subtle change and continued busy with their own work.
Zhao was watching the outhouse from the shadows when Qin Xiaocui came out. She was washing her hands, and after washing her hands, she took out a medicine bottle and stood still.
Zhao frowned deeply.
Qin Xiaocui was in great pain. She was restless all night and didn't sleep well. When she did fall asleep, she dreamed that she was being beaten and scolded. She was afraid and terrified.
Her hands were trembling. In the end, she put the bottle back into her bosom, washed her hands, and calmed herself down before going out.
She didn't do anything wrong, which surprised Zhao.
But since Qin Xiaocui didn't make a move, Zhao couldn't rashly expose her. She came out first and went about her business as if nothing had happened.
Qin Xiaocui was the same; she was very diligent and never slacked off.
Zhao thought she would bring up the matter that evening to see if her father-in-law had any good solutions.
In the afternoon, Qin Shi and Qin Tianhai returned. There were no leftover noodles, and all the dried meat they had made had been sold out.
Qin's face lit up with joy. She said with a smile, "Starting tomorrow, the work will be the same as before, and the wages will be calculated based on half a day's work."
New things always have a way of keeping people coming back for more, and the delicious taste of dried meat is unique, so many people are willing to buy it to eat.
After a while, the rumors about her will fade away, the noodle business will recover, and with the addition of dried meat, she will need to continue hiring, and the workshop will also need to be put back on the agenda.
"That's wonderful, congratulations Aunt Yu..."
"Congratulations, Sister Yu..."
Because of their different generations, they addressed each other differently. Everyone expressed their blessings, knowing that working for Qin would bring a good income to their families, and it was much easier than working in the fields. They hoped that Qin could expand her business.
Qin Xiaocui hung her head, looking pained. Even after everyone else had left, she was still there.
"Xiao Cui, is there something you want to say?"
Qin sensed that she had something to say, so she took the initiative to ask.
"I...I don't want to do it anymore..." Qin Xiaocui lowered her head, her voice low.
