Chapter 102 Can Sit Up
Qin Tianjiang snapped out of his daze and nodded repeatedly.
"Really, really, I'm not lying to you. I'll take these fingers right now. Once I pay off my gambling debts, I'll come home and our family will live a good life together. All I ask for is for our family to live peacefully and steadily."
Qin Tianjiang said, crying as he hugged Ling Shi and wailed.
Ling sighed and tears streamed down her face.
She didn't know what else to say.
After crying his fill, Qin Tianjiang stood up shakily and said, "Trust me, I will handle it."
He carried the severed fingers in his clothes and walked outside.
The three Qin sisters all gathered around.
"father--"
Qin Xiaocui called out to Qin Tianjiang.
Qin Tianjiang felt guilty and didn't look at her. He just stood there for a moment and said, "Take good care of your mother. Don't do anything foolish. Father will be back soon."
After Qin Tianjiang finished speaking, he walked outside.
After he left, Qin Xiaocui and her two sisters went into the house.
Ling beckoned them over.
She sighed and said, "As long as there's hope, I just want you to live well. Your father isn't a good father; he's selfish and cowardly. I've never seen him like that before. We'll trust him this time..."
"Mother also hopes that he will really change after this, even if it's a little hard and tiring."
Ling felt a sense of relief, but she was still filled with fear, afraid that it was all just a mirage, a dream.
"Mother, we'll listen to you. No matter what, as long as we can be by your side, your daughter is willing."
Qin Xiaocui leaned gently against Ling Shi.
"Me too."
The second and third sisters also hugged Ling Shi.
Madam Ling embraced her three daughters and nodded gently.
Since God has given them the chance to live, they will continue to live until the day when all hope is lost.
...
After taking a nap, Qin Jin'an discovered that she could move again. She was overjoyed. She felt that there were more things connected to her now, and she knew that Qin Xiaocui and the others had survived.
Qin Jin'an slowly propped herself up to sit up. She was still very weak, but it was much better than before when she couldn't move at all.
She moved her lips and spoke: "I can talk now..."
This time, I didn't have trouble moving my tongue when I spoke, and my tongue didn't feel sore or weak.
There was a knock on the door.
A series of gasps came as the door opened.
Qin Jin'an craned his neck and called out, "Auntie, Auntie..."
Zhao was also startled outside; anyone would be frightened to see Qin Tianjiang burst in covered in blood.
The girls working at the Qin family's house were so frightened that they stood up and huddled together, looking at Qin Tianjiang with panic and fear.
Now only Zhao is still at home; Zhang and Qin Yulin have gone to work in the fields, and Qin Tianhai has moved to the city.
Suppressing her panic, Zhao asked, "Uncle Jiang, your hand is bleeding."
Qin Tianjiang didn't care about anything else. He looked at Zhao Shi and said, "My niece Yu Wan promised me that she would give me fifty taels of silver if I cut off my six fingers. Now that I have my fingers, when will you give me the silver?"
Zhao breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing Qin Tianjiang holding his fingers, she said, "Uncle Jiang, wait a moment, I'll go get it for you."
Zhao was still shaken, but thankfully Qin had already given instructions and the fifty taels were prepared. Zhao went to Qin's room and opened the door to find Qin Jin'an sitting up. She smiled and said, "Yu Bao, you're all better now."
Qin Jin'an nodded with a smile: "Yes, Aunt, I'm much better."
Seeing that Qin Jin'an could sit and talk again, Zhao's eyes reddened with joy: "That's good. Your aunt will come and collect the money your mother left behind."
Qin Jin'an flipped open the pillow and watched as Zhao Shi took the money. Then Qin Jin'an spoke up again: "Aunt, may Grandpa Jiang come in for a moment? I have something to say to him."
Zhao hesitated for a moment, afraid that Qin Tianjiang's bloody body would frighten Qin Jin'an.
"Yu Bao, wait a moment, let me have him bandage the wound before you come back."
Knowing this must be something important, Zhao decided to have Qin Tianjiang wash and bandage his wounds before coming over.
Qin Jin'an nodded.
When Zhao came out, she walked up to Qin Tianjiang and said, "Uncle Jiang, take this back and bandage your wound. Change your clothes and come back again. Yu Bao has something to say to you."
"Take this finger back and put it away properly."
Zhao couldn't bear to look at the bloody fingers; she couldn't understand what kind of mindset would drive someone to such a point.
Qin Tianjiang nodded repeatedly, holding the money, and said with a choked voice, "Thank you very much, I will come again later."
Qin Tianjiang took the money, turned around, and staggered home.
He didn't care about the looks people gave him along the way; all he wanted was to get home quickly, put his wife at ease, and let them trust him one more time.
Watching Qin Tianjiang's retreating figure, Zhao sighed, thinking, "If only I had known this would happen."
"It's alright, everyone get back to work."
Zhao said to the girls.
After everyone had settled down and gotten to work, Zhao returned to her room.
Qin Jin'an was staring intently at his fingers.
Zhao walked over and touched Qin Jin'an's hair: "Yu Bao, why are you looking at my hands?"
Qin Jin'an sighed, "There's so little meat."
When will she be as plump as that god of misfortune, with those white, chubby, soft, and warm hands?
Looking at her hands, which resembled chicken claws, Zhao felt a pang of heartache. She spoke gently, "Yu Bao is getting better. She'll gain weight if she eats good food every day."
All the weight I'd painstakingly gained over the past few months has vanished in this one go, leaving me barely visible.
Qin Jin'an patted his dry stomach and said, "Aunt, I want to eat dried meat."
Zhao nodded and immediately went to get the dried meat and some meat soup.
Qin Jin'an ate slowly, a happy smile on his face: "It's so delicious."
Unfortunately, she couldn't eat much more.
At Shenshi (3-5 PM), Qin Shi and Qin Tianhai returned.
Qin Jin'an sat in the courtyard and sweetly called out, "Mom, Grandpa, you're back."
Hearing the sound, Qin looked over and immediately rushed to Qin Jin'an's side, forgetting all about moving her things: "My dear, you can sit down now, that's great."
Qin was so excited she wanted to cry.
Qin Jin'an obediently snuggled up to Qin Shi: "Thank you, Mother. You've worked so hard."
Madam Qin shook her head. She wasn't tired; as long as she saw her daughter was alright, anything she did was worth it.
Qin Tianhai walked over and patted Qin Jin'an's hair: "Not bad."
He breathed a sigh of relief as he realized that he could move, eat, and drink again, and would soon be better. Thank God.
The horse entered the yard and nudged its head over.
"Master, master..."
"Finally, I see my master again..."
The horse grinned and raised its head, allowing Qin Jin'an to touch it. It made a sound that, to others, sounded like it was just snorting, but to Qin Jin'an, it sounded like it was constantly saying "I miss you."
"Horse, I miss you so much. Are you tired lately? Thank you for helping my mother."
Qin Jin'an touched the horse's face and thanked him.
The white dots that were running around happily also came to Qin Jin'an's side and bounced around.
"I love my master too, you stinky horse, don't you dare steal it!" White Dot was not to be outdone and wanted to compete for affection. Less than two months old, it warned the horse.
