May 11, 1973 Beijing

"Mom and Dad, aren't you going to work today?"

Su Mianmian raised her wrist and glanced at her watch. She found that her parents had not gone to work yet, and she couldn't help feeling curious.

At this time, Su Xinzhang, Su's father, was sitting on the sofa reading a newspaper.

When he heard his daughter's question, he raised his head, smiled gently, and replied, "Mianmian, today is Sunday."

After hearing her daughter's words, Su's mother, Wen Yuexian, also smiled and said, "You little girl, you've lost all your focus on studying! You can't even remember the days."

After listening to her parents' words, Su Mianmian patted her head and suddenly realized.

"Yeah, after graduating from high school, I don't really keep track of the days anymore."

She chuckled, picked up a bun from the dining table, and while eating it in big mouthfuls, she turned and walked towards her brother's room, ready to wake him up.

Su Xinzhang and Wen Yuexian are both professors at the University of Tokyo.

The college entrance examination had been suspended in that era, but there was still the Workers, Peasants and Soldiers University, so Su Xinzhang and Wen Yuexian were still working at Peking University.

It's just that they are cautious in their words and actions, for fear of being demoted. After all, in this special era, there are large numbers of people who are going to be demoted.

Su Mianmian had just woken her younger brother Su Yanshu from his sleep and carried him out of the bedroom when she heard a loud commotion outside.

Then, she was shocked to see a group of people in plain clothes rushing into her home.

Su Xinzhang knew that the leader was the current director of the Revolutionary Committee, Liu Qingguo.

Liu Qingguo looked serious and shouted to his men, "Come here, search carefully!"

After hearing the order, they flipped over the pages regardless, with excitement in their eyes.

Looking out the window, the surrounding neighbors were looking at the people from the Revolutionary Committee in panic, their hearts filled with endless fear and anxiety, fearing that their family would be the next to be targeted.

Su Mianmian watched them rummaging through the drawers and cabinets. When they didn't find what they wanted in the living room, they went to the bedroom.

The originally tidy furnishings in the bedroom were now in a mess, with quilts and clothes scattered all over the floor.

Su Mianmian and her brother were so frightened by the scene that they trembled all over. They stood aside in fear, not daring to make a sound.

Wen Yuexian was frightened and hurriedly hugged her two children tightly in her arms to protect them.

Su Xinzhang looked at his weak wife and children with a distressed look on his face. He moved and stood in front of the three people, blocking their view.

Soon the people who searched the bedroom came out and shook their heads at Liu Qingguo.

Until the last person came out, nothing was found.

Liu Qingguo looked towards the only room in the house that had not been searched. His men understood and went straight to that room.

That room happened to be Su Xinzhang's study.

Su Mianmian saw through the gap that the group of people entered her father's study and quickly took out a thick stack of letter paper.

One of them respectfully handed the stack of letter paper to Liu Qingguo.

Liu Qingguo took the letter in his hand, opened it, glanced at it quickly, and then looked at the person who delivered the letter.

The man immediately understood what he meant and hurriedly called on his other companions to come forward and capture Su Xinzhang and Wen Yuexian.

Su Xinzhang and Wen Yuexian knew this would be the outcome from the moment the Revolutionary Committee broke in.

Wen Yuexian turned her head to look at her two children, then quickly turned her gaze to the couple's bedroom.

Then she looked at Su Mianmian steadily, her lips moving slightly as she silently conveyed to Su Mianmian: "Money. Bedroom."

However, before Su Mianmian could recover from her shock, the two were forcibly taken away in the blink of an eye.

After the people from the Revolutionary Committee left, Su Yanshu was frightened by this sudden change and was at a loss as to what to do. He couldn't help but burst into tears.

"Sister, where are mom and dad?"

Su Mianmian probably had some guesses in her mind. She had witnessed a similar scene not long ago, and her parents might face the fate of being sent down to the countryside.

When she thought of this possibility, she hugged her brother tightly and burst into tears.

She was spoiled at home and grew up carefree, but her parents were suddenly taken away.

This sudden situation made her confused and at a loss for a moment, and she had no idea how to deal with it.

Su Mianmian herself didn't know what was going on. As she cried, her head began to feel dizzy, and soon she fell to the ground involuntarily.

This frightened Su Yanshu. He looked at the unconscious Su Mianmian and burst into tears, "Sister, please don't leave Ah Yan. Wuuwuwu..."

………………

At this time, Su Mianmian, who had fainted, fell into a long dream.

She watched the other girl's life like a bystander.

She remembered that she was an orphan living in the 20th century, and she knew that studying hard was her only way out.

So she studied hard and was admitted to Peking University and Tsinghua University together with her best friend.

The two of them started preparing for the postgraduate entrance examination step by step. During the summer vacation after being admitted, she went on a trip with her best friend. On the way back, she died in a plane accident.

Then when she opened her eyes, she became Su Mianmian, a newborn baby in this special era.

After that, she didn't remember what happened in the 21st century.
