Chapter 223

Chapter 223

The pharmacy owner slowly took the coins from Ling Wu, and then took out a round box about the size of a thumb from her cloak.

"You are the first customer to come for medication testing today, so this pill testing kit is a gift for you." She handed it over with both hands.

Ling Wu did not refuse, but after accepting it, she left without saying thank you.

As early as when the pharmacy owner led her upstairs, she had vaguely sensed that something was wrong.

Now, because of this gift, the feeling that something is wrong is even stronger.

"Are you from the East?" Ling Wu asked, holding up the small round box.

The pharmacist's hand trembled slightly as she withdrew it. She picked up several vials of reagents and began to prepare new ones, as if only in this way could she calm down.

She nodded casually and said, "Yes, guest, this is common knowledge, didn't you know?"

Ling Wu shook her head, her tone quite apologetic, "I'm sorry, this is my first time leaving home."

The apothecary's hand was gradually tightening. She picked up a bottle of medicine in a seemingly ordinary manner, but her slender fingertips were pressed with white marks due to the heavy force.

The pharmacy owner lowered his head and continued mixing the medicine, asking in a gentle voice, "Is this your first time leaving home? Does your family usually forbid you from leaving home?"

A hint of disappointment appeared on Ling Wu's beautiful face. "It's because my illness is too serious that they won't let me leave home."

"I think I can examine you. My apothecary has been open for fifteen years, and I can handle any ailment, no matter how difficult." The apothecary's hands didn't stop making the potions, but his voice still carried a hint of nervousness.

Fifteen years?

Lysdia is one year younger than the other.

Gathering her thoughts, Lingwu shook her head. "Thank you for your kindness, but I have to go home today because I'm in a rush. Perhaps next time you come, you can help me with a medical check-up."

After saying this, Lingwu made a move to leave, but as soon as she took a step, she placed her hand on her chest, her delicate eyebrows furrowing in pain.

The apothecary's hand trembled, and the medicine fell to the ground, the liquid spreading and corroding the floor.

But she didn't care about any of that. She turned around and took a bottle of medicine from the locked cabinet. Then she quickly stepped forward to support Ling Wu and anxiously fed her the medicine.

In her panic, the cloak that had been covering her face fluttered back slightly, revealing a still-beautiful face.

Although she quickly put it back on, Lingwu still saw her face.

She bears no resemblance whatsoever to Celestia.

"Thank you," Ling Wu said, shifting her gaze from the corroded floor.

It seems that not all the medicines made by the apothecary are healing potions.

The pharmacy owner's voice remained worried: "Has your health always been this poor? Doesn't your family give you medicine? Your attire suggests you're a noble lady, so why haven't your family assigned you guards?"

She became increasingly agitated as she spoke, and finally her voice carried a hint of anger: "Since it's an illness you've had since childhood, why didn't your family take you to see a doctor?"

"...How did you know that this is a disease I've had since childhood?" Ling Wu looked up at her, puzzled.

The apothecary was silent for a moment, then her gaze fell on Ling Wu's fair wrist before she explained, "I am from the East... I took your pulse while I was feeding you the medicine."

Ling Wu didn't dwell on this point, even though she hadn't felt anyone touch her wrist.

“The East… If I have the chance, I would like to go to the East to take a look. My mother might be in the East.” Ling Wu’s eyes were full of expectation, and she kept observing the pharmacy owner out of the corner of her eye.

The owner of the medicine shop seemed to be shrouded in sadness, but since her face was not clearly visible, Lingwu could not be sure.

"You will see your mother." She said, as if offering a blessing, yet also as if making a vow.

"Thank you for your blessings." Ling Wu smiled, her eyes clear and bright.

The apothecary returned to his initial indifferent demeanor, but when Ling Wu left, she was carrying a leather bag full of medicines, proving that the apothecary was not at peace.

After going downstairs, she ran into Ling Wu from Alcipe. She tilted her head and asked, "Have you been waiting long, Mr. Liar?"

“I just got back too,” Alcipe replied earnestly, then glanced almost imperceptibly at the apothecary behind Ling Wu.

Lingwu nodded. "Then let's go home."

“It’s still early, I can show you around the beautiful scenery of the royal city a little longer.” Alcipe’s face was a little pale.

Ling Wu could see that his mental value had dropped very low, which he guessed was due to the mental value he lost in the fight with Wen Xing.

Seeing this, Lingwu nodded, "If Mr. Swindler doesn't mind the trouble."

“I never find it troublesome to deal with beautiful young ladies…”

As Alcipe spoke, the apothecary's gaze seemed to penetrate the cloak and transform into a sharp dagger that pierced directly into his flesh!

Alcipe silently noted this down.

Only after boarding the flying carpet with Ling Wu did Alcipe say affectionately again, "Your Highness, you are truly a very special person."

“Mr. Swindler is quite special too.” The girl holding the leather bag had a glint of stars in her eyes.

Alcipe resisted the urge to ruffle the girl's hair, his Adam's apple bobbing as he inexplicably awaited her next words.

But the girl only glanced at him before looking down at the myriad lights below.

Alcipe sighed softly.

The arrogant little princess will always wait for others to humbly inquire about her.

"That lowly swindler, may Your Highness ask him what you find special about him?" Alcipe asked, bowing her head.

Ling Wu smiled, "Mr. Swindler's tricks are quite unique."

"..."

Al Sipé chuckled helplessly, but then he heard a voice in his ear saying that his favorability rating was increasing.

He instinctively looked at the girl who had increased his favorability, only to find that the girl was also looking at him.

As they gazed at each other, he could smell the unique cool fragrance emanating from her, and the unchanging purity and... a touch of gentleness deep within her eyes.

Al-Sippe's heart clenched for a few seconds, then he lowered his gaze and looked back ahead.

What should I do? He seems to have a crush on an NPC.

What he didn't know was the fleeting coldness in the girl's eyes the moment he lowered his head.

Back in the castle, the girl nestled into the soft bed. "Goodnight, Mr. Liar."

Alcipe smiled tenderly, but did not say goodnight. "May I tell His Highness a bedtime story before I leave?"

The girl's long eyelashes trembled slightly, her beautiful eyes blinked, and then she murmured an "Mmm."

Alcipe's eyes softened even more after receiving permission, but also showed some worry.

She seems to be very open with people. Does that mean she would agree to let anyone else enter her room like that?

He felt a surge of frustration.

Why is someone so intelligent so unguarded around outsiders?

For a moment, he forgot that the person in front of him was an NPC.

After all, the personalities of NPCs are pre-defined.

Alcipe's eyes were filled with complex emotions. He calmed himself down before speaking gently, "Once upon a time, there was a little rabbit. The little rabbit was going out..."

"What's a little rabbit?" the girl asked curiously.

"..."

“Let me put it another way,” Alsippe said helplessly. “Once upon a time, there was a beautiful little girl who met a big gray wolf on her way out…”

"What is a big bad wolf?" the girl asked curiously.

Alcipe sighed softly, then said with a rather indulgent and helpless tone, "If Your Highness welcomes me, then I'll bring them all to show you tomorrow, okay?"
