Xu Yu prepared this meal quickly and fried the dishes simply. Two dishes and a soup were placed on the table, and the door opened with a click.

Xi Jiang was sitting on the sofa flipping through a magazine, a literary and artistic magazine from Qingying, with lots of words and models, and all kinds of high-quality faces. She was just frustrated that the figure of one of the male models in the magazine didn't meet her aesthetic standards when she heard a noise and saw Zhu Wenxu's frowning face.

"Why are you here?" His tone was rarely impatient.

"Come and see you guys."

That's an understatement.

Zhu Wenxu took off his coat: "You can go now."

He showed his dislike for Xi Jiang when he spoke, and took a glass of water and sat down. Xu Yu turned around to get his meal, and when he came back, he found Xi Jiang already under the table.

Xi Jiang shrugged: "Since I'm here, it's not too much to ask for me to have a meal."

He was so focused on going with Xu Yu today that he didn't care what vegetables Xu Yu bought at the market. Two of them were not his favorite flavors, but Zhu Wenxu liked them. The soup contained sweet pumpkin, which he couldn't eat either.

Xu Yu lowered his head to eat, and when he picked up the food, he found that Xi Jiang was staring at him.

"Usually we have chicken, duck, fish, or hot pot, why is it so simple with him?" Xi Jiang didn't have much of an appetite. "Doesn't he pay you?"

Xu Yu: "Eating too much in the afternoon is bad for your health."

Zhu Wenxu put down his bowl and said, "I'm not picky about food. I'll eat whatever he makes. If you don't like it, you can leave."

"I really don't like it." Xi Jiang threw down his chopsticks, "Instead of letting him follow you, it's better to let him go back."

Xu Yu didn't expect that he couldn't even have a peaceful meal.

The air instantly smelled of gunpowder, and Zhu Wenxu warned coldly, "Get out."

Xi Jiang didn't listen. He went back to the sofa, crossed his legs, and flipped through a magazine. From time to time, he would take pictures with his mobile phone, and occasionally pay attention to the movements of Zhu Wenxu and Xu Yu.

After dinner, they would clean up together. Zhu Wenxu would wash the dishes while Xu Yu would mop the floor. It took less than ten minutes to clean up. Zhu Wenxu wiped his hands and said, "I have something to do at the company tonight. I'm hungry, so I'm going to go."

Xu Yu nodded: "Okay."

"Xi Jiang, I'll take you there." Zhu Wenxu didn't give him the right to speak, he grabbed his arm and walked towards the entrance.

Xi Jiang was forced to change his shoes. It was getting dark outside. The two of them walked one after the other. Xi Jiang put the magazine under his arm and put it in his pocket: "How much do you like Xu Yu?"

"What does it have to do with you?"

Xi Jiang sneered: "Of course it's related. Isn't it thanks to me that you two can be together?"

Zhu Wenxu also sneered: "Put away your confidence."

"I owe you something, and I'll find a way to make it up to you."

When they reached the parking space, Zhu Wenxu reminded them, "If you feel sorry for me, just stay away from us. The farther the better."

Xi Jiang chuckled, opened the car door, got in, and got off the driver's seat: "I'll come again."

The car drove away. Xi Jiang's expression changed. He tugged at his tie and called his vibrating phone. Wei Pei'er on the other end said gently, "I'm at the hotel."

Xi Jiang picked up a cigarette and hummed, unable to hide his slight annoyance: "I'm coming."

After half an hour of walking, Xu Yu went downstairs to take out the trash. Normally, when home alone, he would read a book on the sofa, but after finishing his reading, he didn't know what to do, so he decided to go out for a walk.

After a short stroll, they arrived at the nearby flower and bird market, where a long row of flower pots lined the shelves. Xu Yu remembered there were no green plants in the room, but he didn't know what Zhu Wenxu was allergic to, so he squatted among the crowd, intending to pick one for himself first.

The boss enthusiastically introduced: "The flowers here are all carefully cultivated by me. If there are any problems, I will refund them."

Xu Yu chose a small pot of gardenias. It had a fragrance and would be especially nice in the bedroom, so it could serve as a free air purifier. After paying, he returned home and his cell phone rang.

Wang Li shouted, "I finally made it out of this desolate place with no signal. When I came out, the villagers thought we were primitive people. Are you free tomorrow? Let's have a meal."

Xu Yu thought: "Don't you still have to work?"

"It's been postponed. There's a problem with the team over there, and they need to re-arrange the staff." Wang Li sighed, "So I took this opportunity to rest for two days."

"Can."

He suddenly felt his steps become lighter, his body felt particularly light and he felt dizzy. His breathing became increasingly difficult. Xu Yu squatted on the side of the road, shaking his head, and heard Wang Li's fragmented message: "...Tomorrow... how about we meet...?"

Xu Yu frowned, cold sweat running down his forehead and chin. He stood up strangely, controlling his body: "Okay, tomorrow we will meet..."

Before he could finish his words, he just stood up, his consciousness blurred, and he fell to the ground with a thud, unconscious.

His head felt dizzy, and he couldn't see clearly at first. He blinked several times before slowly coming back to consciousness. Xu Yu smelled disinfectant and the scent of alcohol-stained fabric.

He tilted his head and saw an IV drip. It took him a while to realize he was in a hospital. The door opened, and Fu Wa ran over to Xu Yu with a plate of freshly bought dumplings. "You're finally awake."

Xu Yu was stunned: "What's wrong with me?"

"Allergic reaction." Fu Wa put down the dumplings and poured him some water. "Wang Li heard you land with a thud and thought something had happened to you. He called the police and asked me to check on you. When I arrived, the police had just dropped you off. You were unconscious at the time."

Xu Yu took the cup of water and asked uncertainly, "Am I allergic to gardenias?"

"Yes, I'll sign the guarantee for you. If anything goes wrong, you can find Wang Li," Fu Wa said. "I used to work at a different place and had a colleague who was allergic to gardenias. He'd get red spots when he was around them, but it wasn't as severe as yours."

Xu Yu was still on the verge of becoming insensitive: "...How come I didn't know I was allergic to flowers."

As soon as he finished speaking, the door of the ward was pushed open. Zhu Wenxu, sweat on his forehead, walked straight to Xu Yu and asked, "Why did you think of buying flowers?"

"I want to decorate the room." Xu Yu said, "Are you done?"

"I'm done." Zhu Wenxu said, looking at Fu Wa, "Thank you."

Fu Wa thought he looked familiar. After thinking for a long time, he almost jumped up, stunned and unable to believe it: "Are you Mr. Zhu from Tianlai?"

Assistant Zhou came to Fu Wa and said, "Sir, please keep your voice down. Mr. Xu still needs to rest."

"S-Sorry, I'm a reporter from Sunstone. I invited you for an interview before, but never received a response." Fu Wa took out his business card. "I'm not sure if you would like this honor."

It is difficult to make an appointment with him and difficult to meet him. So far, no one has ever interviewed him, not even magazines of unknown reputation.

Zhu Wenxu took the business card and said, "I'll consider it. Thank you for your hard work. My assistant will take you back so you can rest early."

Fu Wa knew what she meant and gave Xu Yu a wink: "Have a good rest. Wang Li and I will come to see you next time."

Xu Yu nodded: "Thank you for your help. Be careful when you go back."

Assistant Zhou sent Fu Wa away. There were only two people left in the ward. Zhu Wenxu saw the dumplings and asked, "Would you like something to eat?"

"I'm not very hungry yet."

"Don't buy flowers next time. I didn't buy them because I was worried you might be allergic. If you like them, buy some green plants without flowers next time."

Xu Yu heard his concern: "I know, it's too late, you should go back."

Zhu Wenxu didn't say anything. He sat aside and started peeling the apple he had just bought. "Leaving you here alone? I can't do that."

Xu Yu opened his mouth to say he was used to it, but couldn't continue. His health wasn't too bad, and he rarely got sick. Most of the time when he was sick, he was alone in the hospital or at home. Occasionally, his aunt would help him get some water, but otherwise he just had to endure it.

Xu Yu looked at the peeled apple and asked, "How did you get through your previous illnesses?"

Unexpectedly, Xu Yu would suddenly ask this. Zhu Wenxu blinked, stared at him and smiled: "You can still come over, it will be fine slowly."

A vague answer.

Xu Yu knew he was lying and didn't expose him: "The weather is getting colder soon, don't catch a cold."

"You're sick, but you still worry about me?" Zhu Wenxu gave him the apple, "I will."

A sticky look followed, Xu Yu knew what he wanted to do, pinched the apple and slowly took a bite.

He chewed slowly, his left cheek slightly bulging. Finally, after swallowing the first time and preparing to take a second bite, Zhu Wenxu pinched his hand.

With no concealed eyes and no hidden intentions, he leaned in and kissed her. The kiss had a faint apple scent, which was unexpectedly good for Xu Yu. Coupled with the rapid improvement in Zhu Wenxu's kissing skills during this period, this kiss lasted longer than expected.

He wanted to continue, but considering that Xu Yu was now a patient, Zhu Wenxu stopped thinking and turned around to start peeling the second apple.

Xu Yu stared at him and smiled: "You can't finish one."

"You have to eat that too." Zhu Wenxu said, "I'll peel it and eat it with you."

The degree of allergy is not mild. Once Xu Yu falls asleep and wakes up, he will have difficulty breathing, his throat will be itchy and he will feel nauseous. Sometimes he will even vomit the food he eats.

So he tried to sleep immediately after the daytime checkups and stay up a bit at night. On the third day, when Xu Yu's mental state wasn't as bad, he finally dared to pull out his phone to play for a while. Wang Li had been sending him a lot of messages, saying he had to go back to listen to the news because headquarters had requested a meeting.

Xu Yu replied to him to work hard.

Then came Wei Pei'er's WeChat message. She had already arrived in Qingying. On the first day here, she fell in love with the city culture with flower-paved streets and posted many selfies.

Xu Yu sent him a message about how to be petite and lovely, cleared the chat history, stuffed her phone under her pillow, and prepared to eat the strawberries that Zhu Wenxu had bought that morning.

It was slightly sour and slightly sweet. Xu Yu wasn't that averse to fruit, so he ate two or three and lay down again.

After waking up, he went to the toilet with a bottle of saline solution. When he came back and wanted to continue sleeping, someone came in.

With a long black coat and extra-long legs, it was easy to tell who was coming. Xu Yu sat down with his back to her, hung up the saline bottle, and lay down in the quilt.

Xi Jiang put one hand in his pocket and said in a bad tone: "How could you torture yourself like this when you were with him?"

“Everyone gets sick.”

"He can't even afford to hire a nurse for you? He's not that poor, is he?"

Xu Yu gave him a tired look: "Brother, is this what you came to say?"

"I just want to see how you will fare without me. Instead of this being so bad, you might as well consider coming back with me, at least..."

"Brother." Xu Yu shook his head, "I want to sleep."

"Xu Yu, countless people in this world have suffered through hardships for their lives and work, and have been up all night and back home for a few pieces of silver. You are already luckier than anyone else. I have never let you suffer, and it is I who brought you to this new world. How should I treat you? Think carefully."

Xi Jiang stopped talking and turned away.

Xu Yu closed his eyes, feeling tired both physically and mentally.

At noon, Zhu Wenxu bought some other fruits, patiently peeled and cut them into pieces and placed them on a small plate, then fed them to Xu Yu one by one. After dinner, Zhu Wenxu would clean them up and take them out to throw away.

At 4:30 in the afternoon, Xu Yu woke up drowsily. The hospital flipped through the medical records and asked, "How are you now?"

Xu Yu shook his head: "I feel like vomiting."

Fu Wa, who was standing next to him, immediately gasped and asked, "Now?"

Xu Yu shook his head again: "I don't feel like vomiting right now, I can bear it. Don't you have to go to work?"

"Didn't you sign a guarantee last time? I was called in by the hospital. Let's hear what the doctor says first."

The doctor flipped through all the recent medical reports and said, "Your body doesn't seem to have any major problems, but your brain is showing some residual effects. I've made a preliminary deduction. Did you experience a car accident?"

Xu Yu was stunned: "Car accident?"

The doctor took in Xu Yu's reaction. "Generally speaking, people have different degrees of allergies. You nearly suffocated the day you were brought in. We later examined your physical condition and discovered that in addition to allergies, you also have a brain rejection issue."

"You'll need to take medication for a while after you're discharged."

Xu Yu had no memory of the car accident and looked confused: "...Then what should I do?"

The doctor suggested: "You can go see a psychiatrist."

After giving a few more instructions, the doctor left. Fu Wa, who hadn't dared to speak the entire time, was horrified: "Did you have a car accident and lose your memory?"

Xu Yu looked over and asked, "Amnesia?"

"Yeah, that's how it's portrayed in novels and TV dramas. Car accidents cause amnesia," Fu Wa said. "You should find a good psychologist to hypnotize you. Maybe they can find some missing parts."

Xu Yu's brain was buzzing, and he couldn't remember any of the superficial things, let alone the general location and time of the accident.

He covered his forehead and asked, "Can I ask you a favor?"

Fu Wa patted his chest: "You say."

"I'll try to convince you and Zhu Wenxu to stop the interview," Xu Yu said. "Can you please not tell anyone else about this, including Wang Li?"

Fu Wa opened his mouth. Not telling Zhu Wenxu was fine, but not telling Wang Li was a bit more troublesome. He knew Wang Li's temper. If he knew he had helped to conceal the matter, he would have killed him. But thinking carefully, this was Xu Yu's private matter, so it was understandable that he didn't tell, not to mention the tempting conditions.

So he nodded without hesitation: "Don't worry, I will keep what I said today to myself."
