Chapter 11: Land of Hope

Chapter 11: Land of Hope

When modern humans face the possibility of losing their fertility, they look for answers from a scientific perspective.

People will study genes, radiation, and various factors that may affect the combination of sperm and egg, and try to eliminate them one by one to find the final truth.

Although decades of research have yielded no results, this pattern remains unchanged.

When faced with such things, the ancestors of the Yangjiagou tribe in ancient times would only look for answers from the gods.

"The Moon God deprived the tribe of their fertility" was the answer they found.

They expressed the answer through a stone carving.

In this way, everything can be explained.

Why did the ancestors of the Yangjiagou tribe suddenly change their beliefs and worship the moon god crazily?

This is because they are trying to appease the "wrath" of the Moon Goddess and restore the fertility that was deprived by the Moon Goddess.

Why did they carry out crazy and cruel sacrifices, even using pregnant women and pregnant animals as sacrifices?

It is very likely that they believed that pregnant women and pregnant animals were the embodiment of the power of reproduction. The Moon God, who holds the power of reproduction, would like this kind of sacrifice. The ultimate goal is to allow the Moon God to restore their own fertility.

But it is obvious that their self-rescue efforts have not yielded results.

This ancient tribe eventually disappeared in the long river of history.

After perfecting his speculation, Zhou Cheng did not stop digging, but instead accelerated it.

The reason is simple: a single piece of evidence is not enough.

This one stone carving alone wasn't enough to fully prove his hypothesis. He needed at least one other artifact with a similar image carved on it to prove that the image on this stone carving was a common phenomenon, rather than just a random creation by a tribal priest.

An artifact engraved with similar images appeared on the fourth day of Zhou Cheng's excavation.

It was a clay pot, and inside it was something that had long dried up and it was impossible to tell what it was.

Zhou Cheng speculated that this might be a sacrificial utensil used to offer sacrifices to the moon god.

On it, that “baby falling from the moon” image reappears.

When he saw the pottery jar and the portrait on it again, Zhou Cheng subconsciously let go of the shovel in his hand, slowly squatted down, and picked it up from the soil with slightly trembling hands, as if he was holding some rare treasure.

After seeing the portrait clearly, Zhou Cheng let out a long breath, then sat down on the edge of the tunnel regardless of the dirt and mess, and lay down on the ground with his body leaning back.

“Hahahahahaha…”

Zhou Cheng burst into laughter, startling the little monkey playing nearby. It jumped up, turned around and ran more than ten meters before stopping and looking at him in surprise.

Zhou Cheng kept laughing until he was out of breath, until all the hard work of the past few months, the ordeals between life and death, the dozens of difficult journeys, the future full of uncertainty, all of this, all the depression and heaviness brought about by it were vented out, and he finally calmed down.

The autumn sky was very clear. There were a few white clouds floating around the setting sun, and the rest of the sky was vast expanses of azure blue.

The wind blows gently, the insects chirp softly, everything is so peaceful and quiet.

Zhou Cheng lay there, enjoying the tranquility of the autumn wilderness, and didn't want to move for a long time.

He knew that he had found what he wanted.

My guess was correct.

The existing evidence has proven with a high probability that the ancestors of the Yangjiagou tribe had indeed lost their fertility, just like human civilization today.

Human civilization lost its fertility because it was "attacked" by an unknown existence - research over the past few decades has proven this and denied the possibility of any natural factors.

Why did the ancestors of the Yangjiagou tribe also lose their fertility?

Zhou Cheng couldn't be sure whether the ancestors of the Yangjiagou tribe lost their fertility because they were attacked by this unknown existence.

But at least, the two appear similar on the outside.

The fact that pregnant women from other tribes were captured from outside also proves that the local environment has not changed much, and it is unlikely that the loss of fertility was caused by environmental factors.

According to common sense, the ancestors of the Yangjiagou tribe, like the current human civilization, most likely lost their fertility because of this kind of attack.

This leads to a question: There were so many tribes in ancient times, why did only the people of Yangjiagou tribe encounter the same thing as human civilization?

What are the similarities between the two?

If this common point is found, does it mean that human civilization has found that unknown existence - the one the ancestors of the Yangjiagou tribe called the "Moon Goddess" - who brazenly attacked human civilization, deprived it of its reproductive capacity, and led it to the brink of extinction?

This is very likely.

Knowing the reason why the Moon Goddess attacked them, they could formulate targeted countermeasures and have hope of resolving this disaster.

Or maybe we are unable to find that common point. After all, the Yangjiagou tribe has been lost in the long river of history for too long, but it doesn’t matter.

Did the Yangjiagou tribe leave behind any clues or information about the Moon God during their fight against the Moon God until their demise?

If we can find these clues and information, we can also use them to enhance our understanding of the Moon Goddess and break the current situation where we are on the verge of destruction and know nothing about the Moon Goddess.

In either case, it means that our side has made significant progress in combating the disaster.

Even the mere discovery of an ancient tribe that had the same experience as human civilization, and the fact that "the experience of human civilization is not an isolated case", is itself an extremely significant breakthrough.

A major breakthrough that can create a ripple in the human world that is completely hopeless and as calm as stagnant water.

Zhou Cheng knew that it was time for him to leave Yangjiagou and return to the human world.

Holding the pottery jar carefully, Zhou Cheng stood up and looked at the lush green land in front of him, his eyes full of eagerness.

No matter which possibility you speculate, more clues must be buried under this land.

This is a land of hope.

Keep digging and looking for more clues. It is far from enough to rely on one's own strength.

We must seek help from civilization.

After returning to the cave, Zhou Cheng carefully sorted out several key pieces of evidence, such as the skeleton of a pregnant woman, stone slabs, pottery jars, and computers and other equipment, and put them in his backpack. After making all the preparations, he fell into a deep sleep.
