Chapter 117 Taming Warhorses

Upon hearing this, the surrounding soldiers burst into laughter.

"Young lady, this warhorse has been with the general for over ten years. It has a very fiery temper. Don't talk big. It wouldn't look good if it got injured and started crying!"

"None of that concerns me," Su Xiaoning said coldly, staring intently at Jiang Fang. "General, would you be willing to give me your warhorse?"

Jiang Fang snorted coldly and said sarcastically, "It's not that I can't give up my warhorse, but you, this vixen, are not recognized by good horses at all, so how can you tame it? If you hurt it, I don't think you can afford to pay for it!"

"Whether I can afford to pay or not is a matter for later." Su Xiaoning stepped forward, her tone aggressive.

"In front of everyone, General, you have dared to slander a mere woman. I only wish to seek justice. If I cannot tame this warhorse, then I will accept your statement. But if I do, then I demand an apology from you. Would you be willing to make the bet?"

"You vixen, how dare you utter such audacious words! You truly don't know the immensity of heaven and earth!" Jiang Fang sneered and released his grip on the reins of his warhorse.

"Alright, I'll take your bet!"

"Father!" Jiang Lin exclaimed in surprise and rushed forward. "Miss Su only misspoke. Why must you hold it against her? You know the temperament of this warhorse. How can you let a young lady act recklessly? Absolutely not!"

Jiang Fang completely ignored Jiang Lin. He stared at Su Xiaoning and said coldly, "A slip of the tongue? She dared to make a bet, so why shouldn't I? Young people these days are fearless. They should be taught a lesson!"

He almost laughed out of anger. In his eyes, Su Xiaoning was nothing more than a child who dared to boast about taming his warhorse. He had to teach her a lesson.

Jiang Lin, frustrated by his ineffective attempts to dissuade her, turned to Su Xiaoning and pleaded, "Miss Su, why don't you just lower your head and apologize to my father? He's only saying it; he doesn't really mean it. You should..."

"She did nothing wrong, so why should she apologize?"

Su Qingcai interrupted Jiang Lin, her icy gaze leaving Jiang Lin speechless.

He turned around, patted Su Xiaoning's hand, and said softly, "Go in peace. No matter what happens, I'll take care of you."

He always trusted her unconditionally, even in such an absurd situation.

Su Xiaoning felt a warmth in her heart. She nodded solemnly to Su Qingcai, then turned and walked towards Jiang Fang's warhorse, her back view exuding a certain imposing aura.

Jiang Fang stepped aside and stayed with his soldiers. Almost every one of them had a mocking expression on their face, waiting to see Su Xiaoning make a fool of herself.

Su Xiaoning paid no attention to the stares of those around her as she walked step by step to the warhorse. Sensing the approach of a stranger, the warhorse neighed, and suddenly Su Xiaoning felt a burning sensation on her arm.

The burning sensation spread from her arm to her entire body, and Su Xiaoning broke out in a cold sweat. She knew the burning area was the koi fish mark, so she gritted her teeth and endured it, not showing any sign of discomfort in front of others.

The warhorse seemed a bit agitated, neighing several times in succession, but suddenly quieted down as Su Xiaoning slowly approached it.

It stared at Su Xiaoning's arm as if it had a spirit, and actually knelt down in front of everyone.

The dignified warhorse actually became docile in front of a strange woman, which almost made the eyes of the surrounding soldiers pop out, and Jiang Fang couldn't help but hold his breath.

Su Xiaoning's arm gradually returned to normal temperature. She reached out and carefully touched the warhorse's mane, and the warhorse rubbed against her palm.

With renewed confidence, Su Xiaoning watched as the warhorse knelt down, perfectly accommodating her height. She pushed off the saddle and straddled it.

The warhorse stood up and carried Su Xiaoning around the field a few times, showing no impatience and behaving very obediently.

Su Xiaoning smiled, very satisfied.

As the warhorse approached Jiang Fang, Su Xiaoning was about to bring up the bet when she suddenly felt something strange beneath her.

She frowned, reached out and touched the back of the warhorse, and suddenly felt a wound.

The wound was hard, and there seemed to be something inside; it felt like a piece of metal.

Su Xiaoning was startled and quickly dismounted, shouting to Jiang Fang, "Quickly, go and get a veterinarian! This horse is injured!"

"Nonsense!" Jiang Fang glanced at Su Xiaoning with disbelief, completely skeptical of her claim of being a "witch." "My warhorse follows me every day; do you think I wouldn't know if it got injured? You're just spouting nonsense!"

"It's your own horse, you should care more about it!" Su Xiaoning said unhappily, and simply went to find the veterinarian at the horse farm herself.

"If you won't go get a vet, I'll go myself! This horse is injured, and there might be something stuck in the wound. If it's not removed, it could get infected and die!"

Su Xiaoning ignored Jiang Fang and quickly found a veterinarian.

The veterinarian rushed over and examined the warhorse thoroughly. He found a wound and removed a small piece of metal from it.

As they watched helplessly as the small, blood-stained iron piece was removed from the warhorse, the surrounding soldiers gasped in shock. Jiang Fang was heartbroken and speechless for a moment.

The veterinarian cleaned the warhorse's wounds, applied medicine, and then left. Su Xiaoning breathed a sigh of relief. She stroked the warhorse's mane reassuringly and stared at Jiang Fang, saying, "General, you lost this bet."

He truly lost, and lost completely.

"You should keep your promise," Su Xiaoning reminded him.

Jiang Fang had spent his entire life fighting on the battlefield, and he had never apologized to a young girl before. His face was extremely ugly, and he stood there awkwardly, not knowing what to do with his hands and feet.

All the soldiers present turned to look at Jiang Fang. They were the witnesses to this bet, and now they were wondering if Jiang Fang would apologize.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, Jiang Fang had no choice but to utter three words with great difficulty after holding it in for a long time.

"……sorry."

Su Xiaoning's tense heart finally relaxed. Although the apology was very simple and sounded extremely perfunctory, she was satisfied that it could make the General of the Cavalry bow his head.

Su Qingcai smiled gently, walked to Su Xiaoning's side, took her hand, and then looked at Jiang Fang with a serious expression, saying:

"She has never been a witch. I hope the general will think carefully before he speaks. Since you dared to make the bet, you must be able to bear the consequences. General, you have spent your life on the battlefield. I don't think you don't understand some simple principles."

After saying that, Su Qingcai held Su Xiaoning's hand tightly, "Let's go."

Su Xiaoning nodded and followed Su Qingcai out of the horse farm.

The two strode away, paying no heed to Jiang Fang's furious, green face behind them.
