The old man's face was completely unfamiliar, and his shout left Su Xiaoning bewildered.
Su Xiaoning frowned and carefully examined the old man and the little girl beside him. "Grandpa, are you sure you haven't mistaken me for someone else? I don't remember treating you."
"It's normal for someone as important as you to forget things!" The old man snorted coldly and then coughed a few times in a mocking manner.
"You came to see me a few days ago and told me all sorts of things so convincingly that I actually believed your lies. But after taking the medicine you prescribed a few times, my legs are completely numb! You must have ruined my health, don't deny it! Pay up!"
The old man spoke as if it were a true story, and the little girl next to him, who seemed to be his granddaughter, burst into tears and kept calling out "Grandpa."
The surrounding gazes grew increasingly strange, and the guests stared intently at Su Xiaoning, whispering amongst themselves.
Su Xiaoning was speechless for a moment. She did not recall ever treating this person. Just as she was about to explain, Su Qingcai frowned and said, "If you are upset, you might as well pay me back. I can afford to pay you back."
"Wait." Su Xiaoning pressed down on Su Qingcai's hand as he reached for his purse. "This isn't about whether you can afford it or not, so don't rush."
Su Xiaoning turned to look at the old man again, revealing a smile.
"I'm sorry, I might have made a mistake in my treatment a while ago. How about this, let me take another look at you. If there's anything wrong with you, I'll treat you again, and I'll still reimburse you for the money, okay?"
The old man glanced at Su Xiaoning with some skepticism, but seeing that everyone around seemed to be waiting to see what would happen, he nodded in agreement.
Su Xiaoning was still smiling. She took out a pair of silver needles from her bosom. The silver needles were shiny, and the cold light reflected in Su Xiaoning's pupils, making them look somewhat terrifying.
The old man's heart skipped a beat, and he couldn't help but want to refuse, but the words had already been spoken, and it would be too late to regret it, so he had no choice but to bite the bullet and extend his arm.
"It might hurt a little, so bear with it." Su Xiaoning smiled slightly and took the silver needles and inserted them directly into the old man's arm.
"ah!"
A sharp, indescribable pain shot through the old man, who cried out and began to struggle.
Su Xiaoning held the old man's arm tightly and stabbed him repeatedly, specifically targeting acupoints that, while not fatal, caused intense pain. This was an experience that most people could not endure.
After being pricked with more than a dozen needles, the old man's face turned pale, and he was in so much pain that he could no longer speak.
Su Xiaoning calmly put away the silver needles, and said to Su Qingcai with a regretful look, "There's nothing that can be done. He's beyond saving. Give him twice the amount of money to prepare for his funeral."
A sly glint flashed in her eyes, which Su Qingcai keenly caught.
Su Qingcai smiled inwardly, but remained outwardly calm. He took out his money pouch and was about to give the old man double the price.
Upon hearing that preparations for the funeral were to be made, both the old man and the little girl felt a pang of fear. The little girl burst into tears and screamed loudly.
"Don't treat my grandfather like this! He's not sick at all!"
"Really? He's not sick?" Su Xiaoning stared at the little girl with a half-smile. The little girl was crying with tears streaming down her face and was powerless to refute.
Su Qingcai sneered, put away the money bag, grabbed the old man, and was about to drag him out.
"At your age, still swindling and cheating, what a disgrace to your age! Come with me to see the magistrate!"
"Don't touch my grandpa!" The old man was powerless to resist, and the little girl panicked and rushed forward, hitting and kicking Su Qingcai.
She was too weak to move Su Qingcai and could only cry loudly in despair. As she cried, she suddenly felt a pang of fear and collapsed to the ground.
Su Xiaoning was startled and quickly helped the little girl up. After taking her pulse, she quickly administered acupuncture, and soon the little girl, who had been unconscious, slowly woke up.
Su Xiaoning looked at the old woman and asked seriously, "Does your granddaughter experience palpitations from time to time? Does she also have trouble sleeping? Is she unable to eat?"
"Yes..." The old man also shed tears. He looked at the little girl with sorrow and pain in his eyes.
Su Xiaoning sighed and gestured for Su Qingcai to release the old man. She borrowed paper and pen, wrote down a prescription, and stuffed it into the old man's hand.
“Your granddaughter has a chronic illness, which could be life-threatening if not treated properly. Get the medicine according to my prescription, and it should be cured in about half a month. Remember not to do this kind of mistake again.”
While giving instructions, Su Xiaoning took out a money pouch from her bosom and stuffed it into the old man's hand, saying, "These medicinal herbs are too expensive. You can take this money for now."
The turning point came so quickly that the old man was stunned for a moment, then tightly clutched the money bag and prescription, and pulled his granddaughter to kowtow to Su Xiaoning.
"We're so sorry, we shouldn't have hurt you! You have such a kind heart. If there's a next life, we'll serve you like a slave, without a single complaint!"
The old man laughed and cried at the same time. He and his granddaughter kowtowed to Su Xiaoning several times in a solemn manner before leaving with profuse thanks.
Watching them leave, Su Xiaoning whispered, "There's something fishy about this. Someone must be directing them. Let's follow them and see."
"Okay." Su Qingcai nodded and left the restaurant with Su Xiaoning.
Unbeknownst to them, the conversation among the restaurant patrons completely shifted after they left.
"I was still feeling sorry for that old man, but I didn't expect he was just faking it. That witch wasn't angry at all, and even treated his granddaughter's illness!"
"I'd heard before that witch's medical skills were amazing, but I thought it was just a hoax. I didn't expect it to be true!"
"Oh dear, why are you calling her a demoness? She's sitting like a bodhisattva..."
...
Su Xiaoning and Su Qingcai followed the grandfather and granddaughter home. Their home was a small house in the suburbs. The old man had only been sitting in the house for a short while when a familiar figure hurriedly ran over.
"You two useless idiots! You can even mess up something this simple!"
Qin Sang was furious and cursed the old man.
The old man, trembling and with tears streaming down his face, held his granddaughter and said, "Master Qin, we have no choice. Our little girl is sick, and Miss Su is already showing her compassion by being willing to treat her. How can we possibly harm her?"
"You still dare to speak up for her! Your granddaughter is sick, so what? Is it more important than my instructions to you? You two useless pieces of trash, you shouldn't be alive!"
Qin Sang grew angrier the more she cursed, and even reached out to hit the two defenseless weaklings.
Su Xiaoning hurriedly tugged at Su Qingcai's sleeve. Su Qingcai understood and immediately picked up a stone and threw it at Qin Sang's wrist.
"Ouch! Which little brat did this!" Qin Sang cried out in pain, clutching her swollen wrist.
"What? You want to attack us?"
Su Xiaoning sneered and walked out of the shadows with Su Qingcai.
