Chapter 143 Hand her over

"Help! My stomach hurts so much!"

Qin Yunyun slumped to the ground, clutching her stomach, her face deathly pale, and beads of sweat forming on her forehead. She was putting on a very convincing performance.

Feng Jiuming hadn't expected this turn of events, and he laughed in exasperation, mocking, "What are you pretending for? You hurt yourself and you're trying to blame it on someone else?"

"If you hadn't scared me, I wouldn't be like this!" Qin Yunyun said, tears welling up in her eyes, sitting on the ground and groaning.

"Everyone, you must stand up for me! I was just trying to help by giving out porridge, but this jinx is jealous and wants to harm me! My child was hard-won, and this vicious woman is trying to kill him! You can't let them get away with this!"

Qin Yunyun tearfully accused Su Xiaoning and Feng Jiuming, which immediately stirred up the emotions of the onlookers, who were all furious and determined to get justice for Qin Yunyun.

The crowd formed a circle around Su Xiaoning and Feng Jiuming, while a maid carefully helped Qin Yunyun up.

Qin Yunyun clutched her stomach and carefully stood up, feigning pain, but a malicious glint flashed in her eyes. She gave a signal to the guard beside her, pointed at Su Xiaoning, and shouted, "She tried to harm my child! Arrest her!"

"Yes!" Li Wei responded loudly. He was the guard that Su Qinghe had recently assigned to Qin Yunyun. He always put Qin Yunyun first. As soon as she gave the order, he immediately led his brothers to approach Su Xiaoning to prepare to take action.

Su Xiaoning stared warily at the menacing guards. At the critical moment, Feng Jiuming saw that the situation was not good, so he pulled Su Xiaoning and used his lightness skill to leap out of the encirclement like a swallow.

The two staggered towards the Ninth Prince's mansion, followed by shouting crowds and guards. Feng Jiuming lagged behind, fighting with the people surrounding them, slowing them down so that Su Xiaoning could escape safely.

Su Xiaoning didn't dare slow down at all. She finally managed to shake off the pursuers behind her and arrived at the gate of the Ninth Prince's Mansion. After some twists and turns, Feng Jiuming also finally arrived and joined her.

Both of them were covered in dust and dirt, especially Feng Jiuming, who was in a sorry state, completely unlike his usual glamorous image.

With a mournful face, Feng Jiuming pulled Su Xiaoning and prepared to go into the manor to tidy up, but suddenly the sound of a carriage came from the gate. A magnificent carriage stopped in front of the manor, and Su Qingcai lifted the curtain and stepped out of the carriage.

Su Xiaoning froze, unable to move an inch. She huddled behind Feng Jiuming, too afraid to look at Su Qingcai, whose expression had suddenly changed.

What's going on here?

Su Qingcai, who had just been all smiles, now had a dark cloud over his face. He hadn't expected to see such a scene when he returned from dealing with matters in the palace. What on earth had happened?

Su Qingcai approached Su Xiaoning step by step and said coldly, "Didn't I tell you not to go out recently? You still went out and caused trouble?"

"I..." Su Xiaoning originally wanted to argue that she wasn't acting recklessly, but when she thought about the chaotic situation just now, she didn't have the courage to face Su Qingcai and was speechless.

Seeing that the two were deadlocked, Feng Jiuming stepped forward with a stiff upper lip: "It's not her fault. I just thought she was too bored, so I took her out to have some fun. Who knew that Qin Yunyun would be so good at stirring things up..."

He recounted the events that had just transpired to Su Qingcai in detail. After listening, Su Qingcai looked at Pearl in Su Xiaoning's arms and saw that Pearl looked listless with bloodstains at the corner of her mouth. Su Xiaoning's gaze was filled with both heartache and sadness, which immediately calmed Su Qingcai's anger by more than half.

Su Qingcai sighed, saying helplessly, "Taking her out to play is one thing, but why did you have to go find Qin Yunyun? Don't you know who benefits the most from these rumors? Sigh..."

He wanted to say a few more words, but suddenly he heard a commotion coming from afar. Looking up, he saw a group of commoners rushing towards him, with a few guards mixed in among them.

Su Qingcai immediately realized who these people were. Without saying a word, he urged Su Xiaoning and Feng Jiuming to enter the mansion, while he himself stayed at the gate, waiting for Ding Yi and Bing Er.

Li Wei led the people to the gate of the Prince's Mansion. He first stepped forward and bowed to Su Qingcai, then said solemnly, "Su Xiaoning has offended our lady. We request that the Ninth Prince hand over Su Xiaoning to set the record straight."

"You think you can just hand it over like that? What kind of offense is this? I don't know anything about it, so why should I agree to your request?" Su Qingcai frowned and directly rejected Li Wei.

Li Wei remained calm and pointed to the villagers behind him: "Su Xiaoning has committed a serious mistake, and the villagers behind me can all testify to that."

As soon as he finished speaking, the people began to shout indignantly.

"That jinx Su Xiaoning, if we just kept to ourselves, that would be fine, but she insisted on coming out to harm people, that's wrong of her, she must be handed over to be punished!"

"The Holy Maiden is such a kind person, and she still went to great lengths to provide us with porridge while pregnant. Yet Su Xiaoning, that heartless wretch, actually tried to harm her child. How wicked! How can the Ninth Prince protect such a sinner!"

"Hand over Su Xiaoning! Or we're not leaving!"

...

The crowd was in high spirits, clamoring to "uphold justice" for Qin Yunyun. With so many people, the momentum was immense; even with half of the palace's guards trying to maintain order, they almost couldn't stop the angry mob.

Looking at the excited crowd, Su Qingcai felt powerless, but he still stood guard at the gate, unmoved as a mountain, even though he felt as if he were carrying a thousand pounds of pressure on his back.

The commotion outside the Prince's mansion reached inside, and Su Xiaoning naturally heard it as well. She knew that Su Qingcai was bearing the pressure for her, and a pang of sorrow welled up in her heart. She almost wanted to go back and stand beside him. However, looking at the pearl that was still twitching in her hand, she could only suppress her emotions and ran to Bai Hua with the pearl.

Su Xiaoning handed the pearl to Bai Hua, who was taken aback. Before she could ask why, she began to examine the pearl.

Qin Yunyun's kick was really hard; Pearl was badly injured, seemingly with internal organs damaged. Bai Hua carefully reached into its belly, and after only a few touches, she suddenly felt a small, lumpy object.

Bai Hua was startled and quickly parted Pearl's thick fur, and sure enough, she saw a small thing protruding from the fur.

He took out the small object, which turned out to be a piece of paper folded into a small square. Upon opening it, he found it contained a prescription, with the old man's handwriting at the end.

"This prescription can prevent your illness from recurring and keep you safe for the time being."

A relapse? Wasn't Su Xiaoning completely cured? Could it be...?

Bai Hua was shocked. He slammed the prescription on the table with a "bang" and stared at Su Xiaoning with eyes full of anger.

"What exactly are you hiding from us?!"
