Chapter 157 The "Father" Who Came to Demand His Person

"Get him out."

Su Qingcai gave a casual instruction without even lifting his eyelids; he didn't want to waste his breath on someone who was clearly looking for trouble.

Ding Yi and Bing Er responded and joined forces to try and shove the man out.

The man was quite strong and stubbornly refused to move. During the scuffle, he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Someone come and judge this! The Ninth Prince's Mansion is openly abducting people, refusing to release my son, and now they want to kick me out! Is there no law in this world?!"

"Su Xiaoning, you jinx, you witch, get out here right now! You caused the Holy Maiden to fall before, and now you've kidnapped my son. You vicious woman aren't even as good as one of the Holy Maiden's toes!"

This person is actually a supporter of Qin Yunyun?

Su Qingcai's brow twitched, and a surge of anger rose in her heart. Just as she was about to have Ding Yi and Bing Er take action to drive the man out, a sigh suddenly came from behind her.

"What on earth happened?"

Su Xiaoning walked towards the gate with a solemn expression.

The man's howls were like those of a pig being slaughtered, so Su Xiaoning naturally heard them too. As soon as she stood at the door, the man shouted fiercely, "Give me back my son!"

"Your son? I've never seen him." Su Xiaoning raised an eyebrow, feeling that there was something fishy about this person, and did not admit to the little beggar.

The man seemed to be enraged, baring his teeth and claws as he was about to attack Su Xiaoning, but he was stopped by Ding Yi and Bing Er, and could only stand behind them, glaring angrily.

"Su Xiaoning, stop lying through your teeth! Someone already told me that you took my son Xiaodao away on the street today! Give Xiaodao back right now, I'm counting on him to make money!"

Upon hearing the words "make money," Su Xiaoning's face immediately darkened. She clenched her fists and said in a low voice, "Xiaodao is sick now, and you still want him to make money? He has so many injuries, and we don't know how long it will take for him to recover. If you really are his parents, let him stay here with us so he can recover."

"Pah! I don't trust any of you!" the man spat, refusing to budge an inch. "No way! Bring out the knife right now, or I'll report you to the authorities! You people living in the Prince's mansion are all hypocrites, stop pretending to be good people!"

"Report to the authorities?" Su Qingcai stared at the man with a half-smile. To say "report to the authorities" in front of the Prince's mansion was a huge joke.

He was already impatient and was about to tell Ding Yi and Bing Er to make a move when he saw Su Xiaoning looking down, seemingly lost in thought. When she looked up, she took a step forward.

"Okay, don't report this to the authorities. We'll give you the knife."

"You?!" Su Qingcai looked at Su Xiaoning in surprise, as compromising in the face of problems was not her style.

Su Xiaoning didn't look at Su Qingcai, but turned to instruct Bai Hua to bring out the knife. The man, knowing he was in a position of power, stood smugly in front of the door, his hands on his hips, a posture that was particularly infuriating.

Su Qingcai was puzzled and said sullenly, "Why did you agree to him? Don't you think I can handle this?"

He was both anxious and angry. How could a prince be suppressed by a local ruffian?

"Shh." Su Xiaoning's expression softened as she gestured for Su Qingcai to be quiet.

Taking advantage of the man's inattention, she leaned closer to Su Qingcai and whispered in his ear, "Don't worry, I have a backup plan."

Su Qingcai's expression was slightly strange. He looked at Su Xiaoning's face. Her eyes were bright and sparkling, full of confidence and reassurance towards him.

Su Qingcai's anger gradually subsided. He nodded and did not ask any further questions.

After a while, Baihua brought out the knife.

Xiao Dao seemed terrified of men; he trembled all over and hid behind Bai Hua, too afraid to approach.

Su Xiaoning squatted down, patted Xiaodao's head, and whispered, "Don't forget what I told you, I will definitely come to save you."

“Sister…” Xiao Dao’s eyes reddened. He nodded solemnly, stepped out from behind Bai Hua, and walked timidly toward the man.

"You little brat, aren't you home yet?!" the man cursed, picked up the knife and walked away like he was carrying a chicken, without even saying thank you.

After he had walked a short distance, Feng Jiuming suddenly emerged from the mansion. Disguised, he silently followed the man, and soon they disappeared into the thick of the night together.

“What is he doing…” Su Qingcai looked at Su Xiaoning, knowing that she was probably the one who ordered it.

Su Xiaoning kept looking in the direction Feng Jiuming had left. Her expression was solemn as she said in a low voice, "Didn't you say you wanted to find out his true identity? I've been taking care of Xiaodao, and I asked him about his condition when he woke up."

"He told me that there was a courtyard in Beijing where children were kept, full of kids like him. He didn't know who his parents were, and those kids were just like him. Someone deliberately injured and maimed them so they would look more pitiful and beg for more money. Those kids must have been trafficked, and this den absolutely cannot be allowed to exist!"

"Seriously?!"

Su Qingcai was shocked, never expecting that Xiao Dao had such an origin.

Su Xiaoning's face was ashen, her eyes filled with gloom, and her lips were bitten so hard they were almost bleeding: "How could you treat the children like this... I promised Xiaodao I would rescue him and help destroy this hideout, but he doesn't know where the hideout is, so I can only let him go back first and find out the location."

"So that's how it is... I understand now." Su Qingcai nodded gently, reached out and pulled Su Xiaoning into his arms, soothing her anxious heart.

The two stood in front of the door and waited. Before long, Feng Jiuming returned.

"The man took the knife and went to the south gate of the capital, where there was a woodshed. I noticed the situation seemed a bit complicated; there was more than one adult in the woodshed, so I couldn't act rashly and came back first."

After thinking for a moment, Su Qingcai instructed Su Xiaoning to stay behind and decided to go and find out for himself.

He had only taken one step when someone grabbed his sleeve.

"No, I want to go with you too. I promised Xiaodao I would save him."

Su Qingcai turned around. Su Xiaoning's expression was very firm, and there was also a hint of worry about Xiaodao.

He sighed softly and gently patted Su Xiaoning's head: "Okay."

...

As Feng Jiuming had instructed, Su Qingcai and Su Xiaoning quickly arrived at the South Gate and indeed found a woodshed.

The door to the woodshed was wide open, and Xiao Dao could be seen huddled in the corner at a glance.

The clean clothes Su Xiaoning had given him were now stripped off, and he was wrapped only in a tattered cloth, shivering in the cold wind blowing into the woodshed. Even in this difficult situation, his eyes were still full of hope, anticipating Su Xiaoning's arrival.
