Chapter Eleven: The Room Filled with Fragrance

After saying that, Su Xiaoning turned and walked towards the kitchen of the restaurant.

Hearing the commotion outside, the woman who was helping in the kitchen rushed out. She stood with her arms crossed at the kitchen door, blocking Su Xiaoning's way, and glared at Su Xiaoning with displeasure, saying, "I made this fish soup myself. What makes you think I'm not as good as you?"

The onlookers, standing on the woman's side, chimed in, "Miss Ruxing's father was a renowned chef. After achieving great success, he returned to Qinghe Town and opened this restaurant. Miss Ruxing inherited his skills and is the best cook in the surrounding area. Young lady, you should at least consider who you're talking to before you boast!"

It turns out that the woman's name is Ruxing. She is the daughter of the restaurant owner and has inherited her father's culinary skills.

Upon hearing someone speak up for her, Ru Xing's ego flared even higher, her eyes revealing no concealment of her disdain for Su Xiaoning.

Upon seeing this, Su Xiaoning immediately lost her temper.

She shoved Ruxing aside and said bluntly, "As the saying goes, there are always people better than you, and there's always something beyond your understanding. Perhaps your skills are indeed top-notch in Qinghe Town, but if you're complacent and unwilling to learn from others, you'll ruin your father's reputation one day!"

Su Xiaoning walked into the kitchen and, in front of the other chefs, scooped a fish out of the fish tank. She picked up a cleaver and actually began to process the fish.

Ru Xing stumbled from the push and didn't react for a moment. Furious, she rushed into the kitchen to snatch Su Xiao Ning's cleaver.

Su Xiaoning dodged in a flash, holding a kitchen knife in her hand, and casually pointed the sharp blade at Ru Xing.

"Since you treat my brother as an honored guest, surely it would be alright for your sister to borrow your stove? By the way, this kitchen knife has no eyes, so Miss Ruxing, you must be careful."

The cleaver gleamed silver, startling Ru Xing. She glanced back at Su Qingcai, who stood calmly and leisurely not far away, and finally gritted her teeth and stepped aside to wait.

Su Xiaoning smiled smugly, her hands never stopped working, and she also directed the other chefs to quickly start a fire and prepare the ingredients.

Fifteen minutes later, a rich aroma gradually wafted into the kitchen.

As soon as the aroma of the fish soup wafted out, Ru Xing's face instantly turned ugly. She had originally thought that even if this wild girl knew how to cook, she couldn't possibly make any delicacies, but the diners who had gathered at the kitchen door, attracted by the aroma of the fish soup, proved Su Xiaoning wrong.

As the cooking time increased, the aroma of the fish soup became more and more intense, filling the restaurant with such fragrance that it even alerted the restaurant owner, who was reviewing accounts in his room.

The restaurant owner took a deep breath of the aroma in the air and was immediately awestruck. He rushed to the kitchen. He walked over to the stove in a few quick steps and, before Su Xiaoning could even speak, lifted the lid of the pot.

The lid was lifted, and steaming hot vapors dissipated, revealing a pot of milky white fish soup. Without a word, the restaurant owner scooped up a spoonful, tasted it, and exclaimed with delight, "Who made this fish soup?!"

He considered himself an expert at making fish soup, with few rivals in the world, but this fish soup was extraordinary in taste, rivaling even his own!

Su Xiaoning recognized the man's attire as the restaurant owner and immediately puffed out her chest, saying, "I made this fish soup!"

The restaurant owner glanced at Su Xiaoning, grabbed her hands, and said excitedly, "How did you make this fish soup? I'm willing to offer a hundred taels of silver just to tell you how to cook this fish!"

"No need for the hundred taels of silver. I was just trying to prove something to some people who don't believe me." Su Xiaoning glanced at Ru Xing, pleased to see the unpleasant expression on her face. "Actually, my method for cooking fish is the same as the chefs in your restaurant, except I have a few extra steps..."

This wasn't a secret, so Su Xiaoning just casually mentioned it to the restaurant owner. However, she suddenly remembered the villagers of Carp Village and changed the subject, saying:

"However, even if you know how to cook fish, you might not be able to make the best fish soup. The most important thing about a dish is the ingredients. To be honest, I'm from Carp Village, and the fish caught in our village are the best ingredients. If you can use those fish, you can definitely make the most perfect fish soup!"

Upon hearing this, the restaurant owner immediately waved his hand and promised, "Alright, from now on, all the fish in our restaurant will be caught by your Carp Village! Whenever you and the people from your village bring fish, I'll buy as many as you have!"

"Thank you so much, boss!" Su Xiaoning smiled so much that her eyes narrowed into slits. She discussed the date for delivering the fish with the restaurant owner, completely ignoring Ru Xing, who was standing to the side, so angry that her stomach hurt.

After everything was settled, Su Xiaoning bid farewell to the restaurant owner and left the restaurant with Su Qingcai.

On the way back to Carp Village, Su Xiaoning skipped and hopped along, excitedly telling the villagers the good news.

Looking at Su Xiaoning's smiling face, Su Qingcai's heart softened, and he smiled and said, "You were complaining about the fish soup at someone else's restaurant, but now you're thinking about selling fish for the villagers?"

Su Xiaoning was taken aback, her smile faded, and she revealed a serious expression.

“I have no father or mother, I am just an orphan. It was the people of Carp Village who raised me and made me live to this day. If I don’t repay their kindness, wouldn’t I be unworthy of being human?”

Although she transmigrated from the modern era, she knew from the original owner's scattered memories about her tragic past and the kindness shown to her by the villagers of Carp Village. Since she was occupying the original owner's body, she should repay this kindness on her behalf.

Su Qingcai was taken aback by Su Xiaoning's sudden serious expression. The setting sun shone on Su Xiaoning's face, and her pure and innocent eyes made Su Qingcai's face flush.

While she was still in a daze, Su Xiaoning had already grabbed Su Qingcai's hand and was walking quickly on the way home. "Let's go, we have to bring this good news back quickly!"

Su Qingcai looked down at his hands clasped with Su Xiaoning's, unconsciously tightened his grip on hers, and strode forward.

...

Upon returning to Carp Village, Su Xiaoning asked Aunt Xu and Uncle Qingshan to gather the villagers and share the good news with them. Hearing this incredible news, the villagers were overjoyed and thanked Su Xiaoning profusely.

Su Xiaoning scratched her head a little embarrassedly and said with a smile, "The boss means that I should be the middleman. From now on, everyone can entrust the fish they are going to sell to me. I will calculate the cost and price for everyone and then deliver the fish with everyone."

"Great, great, thank you so much, little girl." The villagers were overjoyed and delivered all the fish they had caught that very evening.

Su Xiaoning was doing accounting until late at night when a wave of drowsiness washed over her, and she couldn't stay awake any longer, so she slumped over the table and fell asleep.

Not long after, Su Qingcai pushed open the door with a cup of tea in his hand and was stunned when he saw Su Xiaoning fast asleep.
