Chapter Fifty-Four: Taking her as a concubine

The arrow clattered into a pillar in the room, slicing off several strands of Bai Hua's hair. He stared silently at the broken hairs on the ground, speechless, and the air seemed to freeze.

Su Xiaoning noticed that Bai Hua's condition was not right and was about to ask him what was wrong when suddenly the door opened and a man in black rushed in with a knife in hand!

The woman in black was short and looked very thin, but she came on aggressively. She didn't even look at Su Xiaoning and went straight for Bai Hua.

Bai Hua's face turned pale. It was unclear whether he was terrified or what, but he just stood there blankly, without any intention of dodging.

"Get out of the way!" Su Xiaoning panicked. Seeing that Bai Hua ignored her, she simply grabbed the bowls and plates on the table and threw them at the man in black!

"ah!"

The man in black screamed as he was burned, but his voice came out in a high-pitched shrill tone.

She's actually a woman?

This was the first time Su Xiaoning had encountered a female assassin, and she was momentarily stunned, unsure of what to do next. The female assassin glared at Bai Hua with a sinister look, and while Su Xiaoning was still in a daze, she rushed out the door and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Su Xiaoning realized something was wrong and was about to chase after him when someone suddenly tugged at her sleeve.

She turned around and saw Bai Hua tugging at her sleeve, gently shaking her head at her.

Su Xiaoning felt something was off, and tentatively asked, "Do you... know each other?"

Bai Hua's expression stiffened for a moment, and she vehemently denied it, saying, "No! I don't know her!"

Judging from your expression, it would be a miracle if you didn't recognize me...

Su Xiaoning teased Bai Hua in her heart for a while, but since Bai Hua seemed unwilling to say anything, she didn't press her and went to clean up the messy house first.

After tidying up the house, Su Xiaoning hesitated for a long time before leaving before finally speaking: "Actually, I came to see you tonight to act as a go-between. I wanted to ask if you wanted to come to the capital with us, but who knew that this would happen and we didn't leave any food or drink... I won't force you. If you don't want to go, then that's fine."

Su Xiaoning was prepared to hear Bai Hua's words of refusal, but she didn't expect to hear a soft "I'll go with you."

"Huh?" Su Xiaoning blinked, not reacting for a moment.

Bai Hua sighed, a resigned expression on her face. "I... I have some things that are inconvenient for me to do alone, so I might as well come with you. Anyway, we can look after each other, and no one will lose out."

Seeing his expression, Su Xiaoning guessed that it was probably related to that female assassin, but she didn't say anything more. She just happily discussed the departure date with Bai Hua and then told Su Qingcai the good news.

After discussing it, the group decided to set their departure date for three days later.

...

While Su Xiaoning and her group enjoyed a period of peace in Carp Village, the Seventh Prince's mansion in the capital was always in turmoil.

In the backyard, a group of women were gathered together, and Qin Yunyun was trembling in the middle of them.

"Oh, isn't this Miss Qin? She was putting on airs when she first arrived at the Prince's residence a few days ago, how come she knows to back down now?"

A beautiful woman giggled, but her beautiful phoenix eyes were full of malice.

She casually took a ladle of water from a servant and poured it over Qin Yunyun's head.

"I heard you were chosen by the lucky koi? That's great! Fish can't live without water, and I'm kind-hearted, so I'll let you drink as much water as you want!"

"What kind of lucky charm is this little bitch? Only someone as naive as you would believe that." The pretty woman standing next to the beautiful woman glanced at Qin Yunyun with disdain, her eyes looking at her as if she were trash. "You lowly thing, you don't even have a proper identity. What makes you think you're worthy of staying in the Prince's mansion?"

"Yes, the prince probably just wanted something new. These kinds of little things are the kind you play with and then throw away."

"You little slut, you'd better enjoy these days while they last, because you won't have such good days when you're kicked out!"

...

A group of women were mocking Qin Yunyun. A beautiful woman poured water over Qin Yunyun's head, making her shiver in the cold wind.

But Qin Yunyun said nothing. Although she had cursed these women in her heart, she gritted her teeth and endured it all.

Having experienced so many changes, she has learned a bit about the true meaning of life: a small act of impatience can ruin a great plan, and she can't afford to offend Su Qinghe and his concubines.

They weren't wrong; she just lacked a suitable identity to stay in the Prince's mansion...

Qin Yunyun's mind raced, and she simply closed her eyes and fainted!

When she woke up again, Su Qinghe was indeed sitting by her bedside.

"Your Highness..." Qin Yunyun called out to Su Qinghe in a soft and delicate voice. She nestled in the quilt like a frightened rabbit, and her pitiful appearance was truly endearing.

Su Qinghe didn't react much, only glancing at Qin Yunyun and saying coldly, "Did those women give you trouble? You could have just stayed in your room and not gone out. It's such a small matter that you had to trouble me to come back. What a waste of time!"

"Your Highness, I..." Qin Yunyun was getting anxious, tears welling up in her eyes, "I didn't want to either, but they've gone too far, saying that I don't deserve to stay in the Prince's Mansion because I don't have a formal identity. Your Highness, I want to know what I mean to you..."

Of course, it's just a tool that can be used.

Su Qinghe's eyes turned slightly cold, but he didn't voice his thoughts. He needed Qin Yunyun's help, so he couldn't be too definitive.

"Alright, you should take good care of yourself. I have other matters to attend to, so I'll be leaving now." Su Qinghe stood up listlessly. "I will instruct the servants that you will be my concubine from now on. Just stay in the palace peacefully."

"Thank you, Your Highness!" Having achieved her goal, Qin Yunyun breathed a sigh of relief, and a smile appeared on her face.

After resolving Qin Yunyun's matter, Su Qinghe returned to his study to continue his work.

Suddenly there was a knock on the door, and the man he had sent to keep an eye on Su Qingcai returned.

"Your Highness, it seems that the Ninth Prince is preparing to return to the capital. He is not only taking that woman with him, but also some unfamiliar people, who all seem to be capable individuals."

The informant lowered his voice and reported the information he had gathered over the past few days to Su Qinghe.

Su Qinghe sneered, his eyes filled with rage.

"He did indeed bring that woman with him. Well, their fates are intertwined; neither can live without the other. As for the others... does he think he can stand against me by recruiting a few ruffians from the martial world? What a joke!"

"Pass down the order to ambush them on their way back to the capital!"
