Chapter Four: My Cheap Older Brother is a Like-Minded Person

"What did you say? Your mark ended up on Little Girl? That little beggar?"

In a secluded courtyard in Carp Village, Qin Sang slammed her hand on the table and sprang up from the stone bench, her eyes gleaming with a sinister light as she looked at Qin Yunyun.

Once home, Qin Yunyun lost all her arrogance from outside. She timidly shrank her neck and nodded hesitantly, "That's not quite right. The little beggar's mark was much prettier than mine. It looked so delicate. And since my mark suddenly disappeared, I didn't dare stay there any longer, so..."

Qin Sang's face instantly darkened.

The fish in Moon Pond were raised to be exceptionally plump by the villagers, and outsiders were eager to buy them. He and his eldest son often secretly scooped out the fish from Moon Pond to sell behind the villagers' backs, and it seemed like they could make a fortune. But unexpectedly, the thing that the Qin family had always relied on was stolen by a little beggar!

The key point is that once the other party makes an issue of that mark, they will obviously be more convincing than Yunyun!

"Keep this a secret for now, absolutely no one can know! Yunyun, think of a way to draw the mark on it, and make sure it looks nice. Just say your magic power has increased!"

Qin Sang exchanged a subtle glance with her eldest son, a hint of murderous intent flashing in her eyes: "Since that little beggar could steal from Yunyun, then we can steal from her too. If we can't, then..."

At this moment, in the Xu family courtyard, Su Xiaoning and her "siblings" had become the fish god and saintess in the eyes of the villagers. She thought about it carefully and realized that although such blind worship was wrong, the Qin family was obviously trying to achieve some purpose by leading the villagers' faith in the wrong direction. For the sake of the seafood that the villagers had brought, she had to help them.

She glared at the meddlesome Su Qingcai, pointed to a small wooden house next to the Xu family's house, and subtly threatened, "Brother, you just came out, you must not be feeling well. Why don't you go back and rest for a while, and I'll call you when I've finished cooking? Otherwise, it wouldn't be good if you revealed your true form in front of so many people..."

Su Qingcai's eyes twitched, she gave a barely perceptible snort, turned and left the Xu family's courtyard, then slipped into the small wooden house that resembled a beggar's den.

Although the house wasn't big, it looked fairly clean. However, the things inside were really dilapidated. There was a pile of rotten wood, and nothing could withstand his slap. Fortunately, he wasn't tired, so he simply found some tools in the house and started repairing these broken things while listening to Su Xiaoning's vivid speech in the neighboring yard.

Seeing that the people in the way had left, Su Xiaoning simply sat down on the ground with the villagers and started talking about fishing: "Uncles and aunties, we are fishermen. We have been fishing for a living since ancient times. If we don't fish and eat fish, how will we live? You can see that my brother and I also need to eat fish. The law of the jungle is the most basic law of nature. As long as we don't kill indiscriminately, that's fine..."

She carefully corrected the villagers' questions about whether or not fishing was permissible, repeatedly emphasizing that the practice of feeding fish to starve people must never happen again. She then subtly suggested that if they caught any unusual or strange seafood, they could bring it to her for her to see.

After the villagers thanked her profusely and went back to sea with their fishing nets and buckets, Su Xiaoning took the two large crabs that Aunt Xu had insisted on giving her and returned to her hut.

"Brother, I'm back! Let's go collect seashells!"

Looking at the repaired tables, chairs, and benches in the room, she suddenly felt that having someone to keep her company in this strange world wasn't so bad, if only this older brother wouldn't always look at her with eyes that seemed to want to tear her to pieces...

Su Qingcai was startled, then grabbed a large crab that was dangling in front of him and threw it on the table, giving her a cold sidelong glance: "It's already cooked, and you still want to use this thing to pinch me?"

"What are you talking about! How could someone as cute as me possibly harm my own brother? I was just too scared!"

Su Xiaoning sat down next to him with a smile, quickly peeled the crab shell for him, and handed it to him ingratiatingly: "We're siblings now, shouldn't we love each other a little more? Try it, the crab is delicious!"

Su Qingcai took a big bite of the crab meat, the delicious taste instantly taking over his taste buds. He unconsciously took the crab meat that Su Xiaoning handed him and put it in his mouth, his expression a little unnatural: "Um, razor clams, are they really as delicious as you say?"

Su Xiaoning was taken aback, then covered her mouth and chuckled. He must have been secretly listening to her explain some edible seafood to the villagers. She didn't expect that her cheap brother was a fellow foodie!

"Delicious! So delicious! Let's hurry up and go. I've already made plans with Aunt Xu and the others to go to the beach together. Maybe we can even have a good meal tonight!"

She quickly found a bucket in the room, grabbed Su Qingcai and ran outside, telling him as they ran what kinds of seafood were delicious on the beach.

Su Qingcai listened calmly, but his steps were not slow. He had just reached the seaside and hadn't had a chance to say anything when he saw Su Xiaoning cheer, kick off her straw sandals, pick up her bucket, and run off.

"Brother, I'm going to find Aunt Xu. You go play on Uncle Qingshan's boat by yourself! Catch lots of fish!"

Su Qingcai snorted coldly. What brother and sister? It was all fake after all!

The tide had just receded on the beach, and the villagers, who hadn't enjoyed collecting seashells on the beach for a long time, came out almost with their families.

When Su Xiaoning ran into the group of women with her bucket, Aunt Xu and the others had already picked up quite a few good things. She went over to each of them to take a look, and then she seriously started looking for seafood, just like Aunt Xu. Before long, she was one of the women.

It was autumn, the perfect time to eat crabs, but the crabs by the sea weren't so docile. Su Xiaoning risked getting pinched and picked up several, as well as a lot of sea snails and seaweed. The women around her said she was lucky.

When she was walking back, satisfied, she found Su Qingcai standing on a rock waiting for her, carrying several large fish strung together with straw rope.

"I didn't know you could fish. Let me see what kind of fish you have..." Su Xiaoning shoved the wooden bucket into his hands and snatched the fish from his hands, looking at them curiously.

"That's really strange. It's the first time I've ever seen a fish jump onto a boat. It seems the fish here are just as stupid as the people."

Su Qingcai raised an eyebrow arrogantly, disdainfully fiddling with the various seashells in the bucket: "They're all hard shells, what's so delicious about them? What's the point of picking these grasses? To hang yourself?"

Su Xiaoning rolled her eyes, picked up the seaweed he had picked out and thrown away, and angrily carried it back: "What do you know? This is seaweed! Seaweed! It's delicious. Wait until I cook it, and I'll make you drool!"

Su Qingcai curled his lips and was about to speak when he caught sight of a few people lurking in the distance. His deep eyes instantly darkened.

"Take your things and go back to cook. I'm going to be my fish god." He handed the bucket to Su Xiaoning and slipped behind a clump of trees.
