Chapter Seventy-Two: The Body Invulnerable to All Poisons

Time passed by, and Gu's father sat quietly in the room, did some calculations with his fingers, and then burst into laughter.

"The time has come; your life will surely remain in the Gu family!"

At the same time, Su Xiaoning, who was waiting anxiously, suddenly clutched her stomach. Her face turned pale, and she cried out, "Ouch, ouch!" She stood up abruptly and ran outside.

Bai Hua and Su Qingcai thought Su Xiaoning was delirious due to the poison and were anxious to follow her, but when they saw the direction Su Xiaoning was rushing in, they looked at each other and both showed embarrassed expressions.

What was she doing in the outhouse?

...

After waiting for about fifteen minutes, Su Xiaoning returned to her room with unsteady steps.

Faced with Bai Hua and Su Qingcai's puzzled expressions, she scratched her head somewhat embarrassedly and said softly, "I probably ate too much and couldn't help it... Hey? Why don't I feel any poisoning?"

Su Xiaoning blinked and touched her stomach. Apart from the severe abdominal pain she had experienced earlier due to overeating, she felt no other unusual sensations.

"How is that possible? Judging from the time, you should have already taken effect from the poison." Bai Hua frowned and stepped forward, pulling Su Xiaoning over to examine her complexion. "Let me check you out."

Su Xiaoning nodded in agreement and stood obediently without moving, letting Bai Hua take out several silver needles and stick them into her acupoints.

Bai Hua pricked Su Xiaoning with several needles. He took out the blood-stained silver needles, observed and smelled them, but found nothing unusual. After thinking for a while, he took out a small bottle from his pocket and shook some black powder from the bottle onto the silver needles.

The black powder dissolved into the blood on the silver needle, turning the blood into a murky grayish-brown. But in a short while, the color of the blood gradually changed, becoming more and more vibrant, and finally returned to its original blood red color!

Bai Hua was greatly surprised. He looked at Su Xiaoning with disbelief and his tone was extremely excited.

"I never thought that anyone in this world could actually cultivate such a physique... Su Xiaoning, you are already immune to all poisons!"

"Immune to all poisons? Are you talking about me?" Su Xiaoning was shocked. She looked down at her body and couldn't believe that she had such an amazing physique. Could this also be a result of her good luck?

Bai Hua pondered for a moment and said, "It's already a miracle that you survived the medicine I tested on you before. It must have changed your constitution after that, making you immune to all poisons and allowing you to rest easy..."

"I see." Su Xiaoning nodded, then immediately pulled Bai Hua and Su Qingcai out. "Since I wasn't poisoned, things are much easier. We can't stay here any longer; to avoid any unforeseen complications, let's take the others and leave tonight!"

Gu's father clearly had ill intentions. Since Su Xiaoning hadn't been poisoned, their best option was to leave immediately. The three of them reached a consensus and quickly went to Ding Yi and Bing Er's room. As soon as they pushed open the door, they saw Ding Yi and Bing Er lying on the bed, looking extremely weak!

"What happened? What's wrong with you two?" Su Xiaoning's heart tightened, and she quickly went over to check on the two of them.

Ding Yi and Bing Er's lips were purple, but their faces were flushed an abnormally. Their foreheads were indeed alarmingly hot. The two were delirious and muttering incoherently, exhibiting the same symptoms as the plague victims they had seen in the city.

What happened? Didn't they skip dinner tonight?

Su Xiaoning stood helplessly by the bed, glancing at Bai Hua with pleading eyes. Bai Hua sighed softly, stepped forward to examine the two of them, and after a while shook his head helplessly.

“They ate too much food in this mansion before, and now the toxins have entered their bodies and are starting to take effect. I’m afraid it won’t be long before they end up like the plague victims in the city.”

The plague victims in the city could not receive the antidote and could only wait to die after contracting the disease, passing away in agony.

Are Ding Yi and Bing Er going to end up like this too?

Su Qingcai's face was very grim. He frowned and said in a deep voice, "We definitely can't leave in this situation. We have to stay and find a way to treat them."

"But how do we find a solution now?" Su Xiaoning was somewhat frustrated. She had integrated all the information she had gathered over the past few days into her mind, trying to come up with a perfect solution.

Several key pieces of information flashed through her mind, and Su Xiaoning suddenly had a flash of inspiration, pointing at Su Qingcai.

"I've got it! Go and use your good looks to get information out of Miss Gu!"

"What kind of time is this to be joking around?" Su Qingcai's face darkened, clearly finding Su Xiaoning's idea absurd.

Su Xiaoning shook her head and recounted the information she had overheard while chasing the plague victims. She looked at Su Qingcai with a serious expression and said solemnly, "Miss Gu was the first person to fall ill. You see, she doesn't seem to have any abnormalities now. She must have the information we want. Of all of us, you are the one she is most interested in. We'll just have to ask you to do this."

Seeing Su Qingcai's dark face and silence, Su Xiaoning tugged at his sleeve, revealing a pitiful expression, "For Ding Yi and Bing Er, I'm begging you!"

Su Qingcai originally didn't want to agree to this ridiculous plan, but seeing Su Xiaoning's pleading look, he couldn't bring himself to refuse.

He snorted coldly, then nodded silently, which could be considered as tacit agreement.

...

In the following days, Su Xiaoning feigned illness and stayed at the Gu residence. Meanwhile, Su Qingcai changed his previous temperament and visited Gu Zeyin almost every day, either discussing poetry and songs with her or studying music and chess with her. Their relationship progressed rapidly.
