Chapter Thirty-Eight: Longing in Dreams

Su Qingcai ultimately took Su Xiaoning's words as a joke. After Su Xiaoning left, he regained his composure and seriously discussed the matter of the traitor with Ding Yi and Bing Er.

"That person has already released a carrier pigeon; they must have found some important clue and are now leaving it to its own devices."

Su Qingcai frowned. After thinking for a moment, he instructed, "Have the others go and help the fishermen during this time. They don't need to stay by my side for now. Right now, no one can be trusted except you."

Ding Yi and Bing Er agreed to the matter and then relayed Su Qingcai's instructions after they left. The other guards, though confused, obediently followed the instructions.

Su Xiaoning and Su Qingcai lived in adjacent rooms, so the guards couldn't approach Su Qingcai, which meant they couldn't approach Su Xiaoning either. This worried Xu Huang greatly.

He needed to know the progress of Su Xiaoning's ship model project; if it was already finished, that would be terrible.

To avoid any unforeseen complications, it's best to strike first!

Xu Huang acted decisively and secretly sneaked into Su Xiaoning's room that very night, intending to sabotage the model ship under cover of darkness.

The room was completely dark, and Xu Huang crept in. Thinking no one was home, he lit a tinderbox for light.

Unexpectedly, when the tinderbox was lit, it clearly revealed a human figure!

Xu Huang's heart tightened, and he immediately looked ahead.

The figure behind the desk was none other than Su Xiaoning!

Su Xiaoning appeared to be making a model ship. She held a block of wood in one hand and a carving knife in the other, carefully carving. But strangely, there were no blueprints in front of her, and her eyes were even closed!

How could someone make something with their eyes closed? Is she playing a trick on someone?

Xu Huang quietly approached Su Xiaoning and waved his hand in front of her eyes.

Su Xiaoning showed no reaction, her face displaying a peaceful expression of deep sleep.

Xu Huang breathed a sigh of relief. He was just about to destroy the ship model when Su Xiaoning suddenly thrust a carving knife into him!

With a clang, the carving knife sank deep into the table, just a few inches away from piercing Xu Huang's hand.

Xu Huang broke out in a cold sweat. He hadn't expected that Su Xiaoning would protect her precious model ship even in her dreams.

Let's just go all the way and get rid of Su Xiaoning once and for all.

Xu Huang revealed his true colors, pulled out a dagger from his pocket, and swung it down at Su Xiaoning!

Unexpectedly, Su Xiaoning dodged the attack with a quick movement, and then dodged the next few moves as well, showing no signs of being someone who was asleep.

While Xu Huang was still in a daze, he saw Su Xiaoning suddenly reach out and press his head firmly onto the table, while her other hand slowly pulled out the carving knife from the table.

Damn it, could it be that she's going to—

Xu Huang's face turned ashen. He struggled desperately and managed to escape just before Su Xiaoning's carving knife was about to pierce his neck, but the sharp carving knife still left a bloody mark on his neck.

A faint pain throbbed in Xu Huang's neck, a reminder of how absurd he had been tonight.

Xu Huang no longer cared about causing any damage. He glanced at the carving knife in Su Xiaoning's hand with lingering fear, then ran away as if fleeing, not caring how much noise he would make.

The door was opened and closed with a bang, waking Su Qingcai, who was sleeping next door.

Fearing that something might have happened to Su Xiaoning, Su Qingcai ran out wearing only his undergarments. He carried an oil lamp into the next room, but was suddenly pulled into someone's arms.

The person in his arms was petite and delicate, and the faint, unique fragrance emanating from her clearly reminded Su Qingcai who he was holding.

Their bodies pressed together, ignoring the unusual heat that surged from Su Qingcai's feet and rushed straight to the top of his head.

Su Qingcai felt a surge of heat throughout his body. He nervously swallowed and pushed Su Xiaoning away, about to question her about what she was doing, when he saw that Su Xiaoning had her eyes tightly closed and was muttering something.

"The model is almost finished, just wait a little longer..."

Hearing Su Xiaoning mention the ship model, Su Qingcai couldn't help but feel a pang of heartache.

He knew that the ship model manufacturing had reached a critical stage. Su Xiaoning had been staying up late to make models lately, and now she was probably obsessed with it, even dreaming about it. It was too tiring for her.

Su Qingcai's heart softened for no apparent reason. He took Su Xiaoning's hand, intending to take her back to her room to rest. Just as he was about to go to the table to get Su Xiaoning's blanket, his gaze was drawn to the unfinished model ship on the table.

This ship model was a shape he had never seen before; it looked extremely novel, and he didn't know if he could actually make it.

However, none of the ordinary ship models he had made in the past could produce the ship he was most satisfied with. Perhaps this innovative item created in a dreamlike state will bring unexpected results.

Su Qingcai carefully observed the ship model, which revealed its extraordinary nature in every way, and was greatly surprised. His gaze towards Su Xiaoning was soft and full of appreciation.

...

The same night, Carp Village was quiet and peaceful, but Black Wind Village was in turmoil.

"I don't want to get married! I don't want to be a bandit's wife! I... I'm still just an unmarried girl. I want a father, I want a mother. Don't treat me like this, I'm scared..."

Qin Yunyun, dressed in a bright red wedding gown, huddled in a corner, hugging herself.

She yelled and screamed, her shrill voice irritating everyone. But after a short while, her expression suddenly changed, and a strange smile appeared on her face.

"No, staying here is fine too. Anyway, I can't go back to my home. My enemies are still there. And Narcissus Town, those people are all despicable. How dare they disrespect me, the Holy Maiden? I'm living the high life here, and they don't even know how jealous they are of me. Hehehe..."

Qin Yunyun cried and laughed, making a ruckus non-stop, never having a moment to rest.

The Black Wind Chieftain, dressed in his wedding attire, stood outside the door, watching helplessly as his beautiful bride suddenly went mad, unable to advance or retreat.

"Brother, why has sister-in-law suddenly gone mad? Should we call a doctor to take a look at her?"

The henchmen of Black Wind Stronghold crowded around, offering their advice to their leader.

Cherishing his new wife, the Black Wind Chieftain waved his hand and ordered his men to fetch a doctor.

The doctor had been kidnapped from the town late at night and had no time to treat anyone. He casually prescribed a few doses of medicine and slipped home. The people of Black Wind Village were unaware of this and went to get the medicine according to the prescription. While preparing the medicine for Qin Yunyun, they also contributed many folk remedies, all wanting to "treat" Qin Yunyun.

During this period, Qin Yunyun almost vomited from taking so much medicine, and she felt extremely bitter.
