Chapter Twenty-Nine: The Shipbuilders

On the way to A Liang's house, Su Qingcai specifically instructed Su Xiaoning not to make any rash remarks or alert him. Although Su Xiaoning was puzzled, she agreed and did not say anything at A Liang's house, only chatting about everyday things.

Because they were grateful for Su Xiaoning's previous help, Xiaolian and Aliang were very enthusiastic towards Su Xiaoning, showing no signs of anything unusual.

Su Xiaoning couldn't hold back any longer. After seeking Su Qingcai's opinion with her eyes, she cautiously asked, "Brother Liang, I remember your ancestors were shipbuilders. Have you inherited their skills?"

“I’m just a fisherman now, how could I do that kind of work!” Ah Liang shook his head. “Besides, I don’t even know if our ancestors were shipbuilders. That was ages ago. People in the village keep saying these things, and I don’t know how to explain it!”

Su Xiaoning was stunned to find that all the news she heard was just rumors.

She and Su Qingcai exchanged a glance, unsure of what to do next.

Ah Liang tapped his head, as if he was racking his brains to think of something. "No, let me think... Our ancestors left us a box with some blueprints inside. They might be for building ships. Why don't I take you to see them?"

With a desire to verify, Su Xiaoning agreed. Ah Liang then went to the master bedroom and brought out a wooden box, took out several blueprints from the box, and handed them to Su Xiaoning and Su Qingcai.

Su Xiaoning didn't recognize the blueprints, but Su Qingcai's expression changed immediately upon seeing them.

These are indeed shipbuilding blueprints; the rumors are true!

His ancestors were all shipbuilders, so does he really not know how to build ships?

Su Qingcai glanced at A Liang nervously, and the more she looked, the more familiar he seemed.

If his facial features were a few years older, he would clearly be the person who helped the Seventh Prince build ships in his previous life!

Alarm bells rang in Su Qingcai's mind. He grabbed A Liang and demanded, "Tell me again, do you even know how to build a ship?!"

Ah Liang was stunned. He didn't know why the person who was fine just a moment ago had suddenly started attacking. Trembling, he said, "Didn't I tell you? I'm just a roughneck, how would I know anything about these things..."

You're lying!

Su Qingcai refused to let go, his whole body radiating a chilling anger.

In her past life, she suffered too many losses in naval battles because of that shipbuilder. Now that person was right in front of her, Su Qingcai almost lost control of herself.

Su Xiaoning was startled, not understanding what was wrong with Su Qingcai. She struggled to separate the two, saying, "Let's talk this out. Why are you hitting me? Brother Liang, I'm sorry, he was probably just too anxious. Please forgive him..."

She lowered her head and said softly to Su Qingcai, "Let's discuss this carefully and not act rashly here. You told me not to alert them, so why are you getting so anxious first?"

Without thinking twice, Su Xiaoning dragged Su Qingcai away.

On the way back, Su Qingcai kept a sullen face, seemingly very angry.

Su Xiaoning sighed and advised, "I think Ah Liang is a good person, he doesn't seem like the type to lie. It's just a few drawings, what does that prove? We can just keep looking for him, don't get angry with innocent people..."

"Innocent?" Su Qingcai sneered. "He will definitely build the ship! And he will be recruited by others and become their accomplice!"

"What nonsense are you talking about..." Su Xiaoning stared blankly at Su Qingcai, unable to understand the deeper meaning in his words.

Su Qingcai snorted coldly, ignored Su Xiaoning, and turned to walk towards A Liang's house again, seemingly determined to get to the bottom of things.

Su Xiaoning had no choice but to follow behind him, keeping her eyes on him, as she couldn't hold him back.

The two turned back, but when they got to a spot not far from A Liang's house, they saw a group of people knocking on A Liang's door.

This group of people were dressed in fine clothes and had a grim expression; they were people Su Xiaoning had never seen before. Curious, she was about to approach for a closer look when Su Qingcai pulled her back.

"Don't make any rash moves. Those people... they are the Seventh Prince's men."

They all wore special badges on their waists, which were unique to the Seventh Prince's men.

Although the timing wasn't quite right in this life, Su Qinghe's people still managed to find A Liang in the end.

Su Qingcai's eyes turned cold. He didn't say a word, but pulled Su Xiaoning aside to eavesdrop on the conversation inside the house.

Ah Liang's room door was wide open. Su Qinghe and the man he sent opened the bundle in their hands and dumped the gold inside onto the table with a "clatter".

"Our master said that as long as you're willing to work for us in the future, you'll definitely reap the rewards. Consider this gold a deposit; accept it today. If you're willing to agree, it's just a drop in the ocean, and you can choose any beauty in the capital. How about it, are the terms good enough?"

A beautiful woman with a hefty sum of money is something anyone would be tempted by.

Upon hearing these words, Su Qingcai gritted his teeth, wishing he could rush into the house right now and drag Su Qinghe's people out.

Unexpectedly, Su Qingcai's words came true; Ah Liang had been approached and might be recruited in the future. Su Xiaoning was filled with trepidation. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but a cold voice reached her ears.

"Young master, let me go and kill him!"

Su Xiaoning turned her head and saw that the person who came was Ding Yi!

It turns out that Ding Yi didn't really leave; he had been staying by Su Qingcai's side, silently protecting his safety.

Seeing Su Qingcai's many concerns, Ding Yi's only thought was to eliminate the problem completely and leave no future troubles.

Before Su Qingcai could speak, Su Xiaoning turned pale with fright. She grabbed Ding Yi and shook her head, saying, "No, A Liang is a good person. He's always been honest and law-abiding. How can he just kill someone like that? If he's gone, Xiao Lian won't be able to live either!"

"What others do is none of my business," Ding Yi said, shaking off Su Xiaoning's hand without changing his mind. "Anyone who causes trouble for you, young master, I will eliminate as soon as possible!"

"No, you can't do anything reckless!" Su Xiaoning was shocked and simply grabbed Ding Yi's arm tightly.

The two became entangled, and Ding Yi was indeed held back for a moment.

Ding Yi was getting impatient and was thinking about whether to just knock Su Xiaoning unconscious when he suddenly heard A Liang's voice coming from inside the house.

"Who are you people? Why are you suddenly targeting me? I'm just a fisherman, I don't know anything, and you're not going to do me any good! I don't want this gold, and I'm not interested in any beauties. I have a wife and I'm perfectly content. I don't have time to worry about anything else. You can leave now!"

Upon hearing this, the three people eavesdropping nearby were immediately astonished.
