Su Xiaoning felt as if she had been thrown into a soft, warm pit, with handfuls of wet, hot sand hitting her.
She pursed her lips tightly and dared not open her eyes. Not long after, a sharp and violent female voice rang in her ears.
"You actually have time to care about the life or death of a dirty beggar! If the fish gods are hungry, I'll chop you up and throw you into the fishpond to feed the fish!"
Su Xiaoning heard the wails and pleas for mercy from several women, which gradually faded into the distance as the sound of whips lashed out.

Su Xiaoning rubbed her stomach as she crawled out of the sand pile. Looking at the unfamiliar scene in front of her, and her thin, dirty arms and legs, she almost screamed!

Wasn't she feasting on a seafood extravaganza with a bunch of friends?! How come it's like... she's been transported to another world?!
Su Xiaoning touched her thin, pale face, which was completely different from before, on the verge of tears, and realized the terrible truth...

A burning hunger surged through her, and she had no time to think about anything else. She glanced at the beach and ran to a crescent-shaped fishpond not far away.
"My goodness! These fish are so fat!"
She kicked off her worn-out straw sandals and jumped barefoot into the waist-high fishpond.
Suddenly, an unfamiliar species entered the school of fish. The golden fathead fish swam over and gently pecked at Su Xiaoning's calves and arms with their mouths agape. One of them, bold and big-headed, even jumped into Su Xiaoning's palm. She scooped it up with both hands, held the bighead fish in her arms, and happily climbed ashore.
Once out of the water, the bighead yellow croaker thrashed its tail twice and then stopped moving. Su Xiaoning took a sharp stone to gut it, then found some dry grass, lit it with a torch by the fishpond, and sat on the beach to grill the fish.
"fragrant!"
Su Xiaoning tore off a piece of grilled fish and put it in her mouth. Just as she was about to get up to catch another one to grill, she suddenly felt an itch on her arm. She rolled up her sleeve and looked down, and immediately burst out laughing.
"I didn't expect the original owner to be so bored, getting a full-sleeve tattoo for no reason. But the design is quite nice, shaped like a red koi fish, it really looks like this grilled fish..."
"Ah—what are you doing! What are you doing?!"
Before she could finish speaking, a scream suddenly came from not far behind her. She turned around and saw a woman in a moon-white dress running towards her, carrying a black leather whip.
"You vile creature! How dare you steal food from my Fish God! I'm going to throw you into the sea to feed the fish!"
As Qin Yunyun cursed, she swung her long whip from a distance. Su Xiaoning was startled and quickly dodged towards the fishpond. The black whip struck the fire, but somehow the end of the whip caught sparks and flew straight towards the white-clad woman's white dress, which was being lifted by the sea breeze!
"Ah! Fire! My clothes are on fire! You idiots, come and help me put out this fire! I am the holy maiden chosen by the Fish God. If I get hurt, the whole village will suffer!"
Qin Yunyun screamed in fright, jumping up and down while her burning skirt trembled, and bossing around a group of fishermen behind her.
The fishermen behind her were angry, but there was nothing they could do but step forward and help her put out the fire.
Qin Yunyun was no longer the saintly figure she once was. Her white clothes were dirty and messy, and a few strands of hair had fallen out of her exquisitely styled hair bun. She stared at Su Xiaoning with eyes that looked like she was about to pounce on her and bite her.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't glare at me, I didn't do anything!" Su Xiaoning looked completely innocent, and while she was talking, she left a row of teeth marks on the grilled fish, making the fishermen around her drool.
They hadn't eaten fish in ages, and they longed to be like Xiao Ni'er, to catch one from that damned fishpond and eat it...
"You, you! How dare you try to argue! If you hadn't lit a fire here to grill fish, why would the Fish God have punished me? It must be your actions that angered the Fish God, and I must obey his decree and throw you into the sea!"
As they were talking, the Qin family members brought over a fishing net cage from not far away. Without saying a word, two burly men grabbed Su Xiaoning's arm and threw her into the cage full of tangled threads, then carried her towards the sea.
"Huh?"
Su Xiaoning then realized what was happening.
To her surprise, the moment she moved, the silk threads in the cage seemed to have all rotted in the sun, breaking into pieces. Before she could move even twice, the silk cage had a large hole in it, and Su Xiaoning, holding the grilled fish, fell tumbling onto the beach.
She blinked, lowered her head, and took a bite of the grilled fish: "Mmm! It smells so good..."
Qin Yunyun was so angry she almost cried, and she started whipping the whip wildly.
However, Su Xiaoning lost her balance and rolled on the ground, causing the silk cage carried by the men to sway from side to side. The whips that were lashed out all struck the cage and the men from the Qin family.
"Ah! Stop hitting them! Yunyun, what's wrong with you? Why are you throwing them at your uncles?"
The men howled in pain as they were beaten, but Qin Yunyun was so enraged she lost her temper. The men angrily threw down the cage and strode back, shouting, "We're done! We're done! Good heavens! What kind of mess is this! Let whoever wants to serve us have it..."
