Chapter 57

Chapter 57

When Yi Tu and Jiang Hanyu arrived at the ancestral hall, Chu Sichi was still there.

But his face looked much more haggard than the day before.

I guess he was scared by what happened to Du Jinyu last night.

When Chu Sichi saw the person coming, his voice was filled with fatigue.

"What are you doing here?"

Yitu shook his head and told a serious lie.

"Madam Hui is worried that you're too exhausted from keeping watch, so she sent us over to tell you to return to your room and rest."

Chu Sichi hesitated for a moment, looked back at Dong Haoyue's coffin, hesitated for a moment, and nodded.

He was really too tired and had been frightened last night. Now facing Dong Haoyue's corpse, it was impossible for him not to feel panic.

The reason why he stayed in the ancestral hall was because the hall blocked the dirty things that wanted to come in last night.

Although he was willing to have a ghost marriage with Dong Haoyue, it did not mean that he wanted to go to the underworld to be a husband and wife like Dong Haoyue.

After Chu Sichi left, Yitu tried to look around.

He was looking for the heart knot that Chu Sichi took out last night.

There was nothing under the futon, nor around the coffin. Just when Yi Tu thought Chu Si Chi had taken the things away, Jiang Hanyu, who was standing in front of the brazier, suddenly spoke:

"Is this it?"

Yitu hurried over to take a look and saw that the exquisite red love knot had been burned completely black, with only a part the size of a fingernail left unburned.

And there seemed to be something else mixed in the burned rope.

"Look what this is." Yi Tu pointed at the twisted text pattern attached to the inside of the rope and looked at Jiang Hanyu.

"I don't know." Jiang Hanyu couldn't identify it and guessed:

"Like a spell."

"Spell?" Yitu was stunned for a moment, then a hint of understanding flashed across his face.

"I'm afraid so."

He knew that the heart knot that Du Jinyu gave to Chu Sichi was not as simple as it seemed.

No matter whether Du Jinyu loves or hates Chu Sichi, she cannot sincerely wish them well.

Now, the lovers Dong Haoyue and Chu Sichi have been separated before they even got married. Du Jinyu must have played a big role in this.

Unable to obtain the complete love knot, the two were about to leave.

Unexpectedly, someone came in at this time.

He was a short man with a mustache, wearing a gray coat. When he saw Yi Tu and Jiang Hanyu, he showed a hint of surprise on his face.

"What a coincidence, you're here too?"

As soon as the man said that, Yitu couldn't help but frown.

The reason was simply that this man's voice was too familiar, so familiar that he still had a shadow over the scene that happened on the back mountain yesterday.

The deliberately disguised figure of the heart-ripping monster is the player in front of him named Taishu.

Probably because he saw Yi Tu's expression and looked at him for a moment, Tai Shu smiled bitterly and spread his hands.

"Come on, brother, I'm a real person!"

"It's really not that thing in disguise!"

He came this time just to confirm the personal safety of the plot NPCs, so as to avoid the forced tasks being unable to be completed and them all being trapped here to death.

Taishu asked where Chu Sichi had gone, and Yitu told him that the man had gone back to his room to rest.

Taishu hesitated for a second, then said:

"Although the players' deaths are strange, the key point is not how they died. The two NPCs, Chu Sichi and Shao Feng, are very important."

"The former is fine, but the latter is really inconvenient for us to watch."

Yi Tu remained silent. After Tai Shu left, he looked at Jiang Hanyu. The moment they looked at each other, they knew the answer in each other's hearts.

It is not certain that the two plot NPCs, Chu Sichi and Shao Feng, will survive.

The bad nature of the game will not allow players to hold a wedding so smoothly and successfully.

But if you can preserve it, try your best.

The worst plan Yitu can think of now is that after the plot NPC dies, the player will replace the groom.

After all, there is no one else in the Dong family who can come forward, and the same goes for the Du family.

He just didn't know whether the player could survive if he married a ghost.

After coming out of the ancestral hall, Jiang Hanyu wanted to go to the east wing, but Yi Tu planned to go back to his room first.

It’s cold, really too cold.

Yitu couldn't help but rub his palms. His pale skin was without any blood color and so cold that he couldn't feel any temperature.

He didn't know if it was his illusion, but he felt as if water droplets were oozing out of the palm of his hand.

Thinking of this possibility, Yitu's heart sank to the bottom.

He hugged his arms tightly, thinking about going back and wrapping himself in the quilt as soon as possible.

However, on the way back to the west wing, he happened to run into Taishu, whom he had just met not long ago.

Taishu was still wearing the same gray robe, and his short stature and funny mustache made him look a bit shifty.

Taishu looked up and saw him, a surprised smile appeared on his face.

"I was wondering why there was no one in the yard."

He walked straight towards Yitu and asked immediately:

"Where are you going? What's so busy?"

As he got closer, Yitu smelled a faint smell of fishy smell coming from the man.

The person in front of him was not Taishu at all, but the beast disguised as Taishu.

Yitu remembered what Jiang Hanyu told him, that when this thing asks questions, he must answer it.

But he didn't know what to say in order to avoid being killed by this thing.

Yitu looked at it calmly, thought for a moment and said:

"Of course I'm going to where I want to go. Aren't you going to find Master Chu?"

That thing was stunned and said awkwardly:

"Yes, I just came back from Master Chu's place, and Madam Hui called me over again."

Although Yitu was a little frightened in his heart, he did not show any fear of this thing. He asked:

"What did Madam Hui call you for? Is she preparing a wedding dress for Miss Dong?"

Taishu shook his head, "No, not this."

It stared at Yitu with narrowed eyes, then sighed deeply.

"Mr. Dong is dying. Madam Hui is so sad about this that she can't eat."

"She asked me to think of a solution."

Yitu frowned. He had heard the conversation between this thing and Madam Hui last night.

Dong Qingshan is old. After losing his wife, he lost his beloved son. Once his will is depressed, he may not be able to survive.

Madam Hui wanted to use that thing to exchange for a heart for Dong Qingshan.

"Life and death are all predetermined. What can you do about it?" Yitu answered it calmly.

Taishu shook his head calmly, his eyes became more weird, and his voice became shrill.

"How could that be? People should have their own say over their own lives!"

"Master Dong is dying. Do you think a person whose heart has stopped beating can survive?"

Yitu's alarm bells rang. This thing was too close to him, but even if he kept his distance now, he couldn't escape.

On the back mountain, A Tai’s death reappeared before his eyes.

Before this beast took action, he also asked Artest a similar question.

Can a person live without a heart?

Artest failed to answer its question in time, but it gave the answer itself.

But that's not necessarily the right answer.

"Without a heart, a person becomes dead and of course cannot survive."

Yitu explained every word very clearly.

Taishu's expression instantly turned ugly, and dense black hair began to grow on his face. He screamed at Yitu:

"You're talking nonsense! People can survive without a heart!"

After saying that, its camouflage fell off, and a creature as tall as a man, with pointed cheeks and a long mouth, pounced on it.

Yitu's heart tightened and he quickly stepped back.

"But you're not even human!"

The moment the creature's sharp claws scratched Yi Tu's arm, the Disciple Card Adao Ling Body appeared passively.

When Yi Tu shouted those words, the thing suddenly screamed, its body suddenly shrank by who knows how many times, and it rolled on the ground holding its abdomen in pain.

Yitu was stunned for a moment, and was about to go up and step on the thing to death, but the thing cleverly escaped.

Yitu stood there for a while, covering his bleeding arm, and then walked towards the main room.

That thing was injured and must have returned to Madam Hui's residence.

After he arrived at the main room, he saw that Madam Hui's door was indeed ajar, and it was that thing that opened it by itself.

Yitu walked over quietly and didn't notice the person or monster in the house.

Yitu suspected that this was related to his weakening aura. He was almost dead, not to mention that the thing was injured.

He leaned over to the crack in the door and looked out. Madam Hui was kneeling at the head of Dong Qingshan's bed, her face looking haggard.

A furry little creature, only half a meter tall and about the size of a child, squatted cautiously at Madam Hui's feet.

It covered its chest and whispered Madam Hui's name.

"Xiaohui, Xiaohui, it hurts here."

Madam Hui turned her head and glanced at it, and Yitu was stunned for a moment.

Madam Hui looks so old, no wonder she didn't come out to meet guests today.

"Ah Li, just bear with it." Madam Hui stroked the creature's head, her voice filled with bitterness: "We will get through this."

Ali didn't say anything, just took a few breaths.

Yitu knew that it must be very painful, but he didn't roll on the ground in pain because he didn't want to annoy Madam Hui.

"Ali." Madam Hui hesitated for a moment, then spoke again, "Qingshan's aura has weakened a lot. He hasn't eaten or drunk anything for these days..."

Madam Hui's voice was filled with tears. "I'm afraid he won't be able to hold on. Can you save him?"

Ahri didn't say anything, but the sound of her breathing became louder and louder.

"Xiaohui, I can only save you." Ali spoke after a long time.

Obviously, this was not the answer Madam Hui wanted. She was angry and sad, and she shed tears:

"If Qingshan is gone, I don't want to live alone."

"Please save him, just like you saved me, okay?"

Ahri covered his chest with his furry paws and gasped:

“But, but…”

"But what!" Mrs. Hui cried heartbrokenly:

"There are so many guests at home, can't we just kill any one of them?"

"This is so easy for you!"

Ahri still clutched her chest tightly and kept shaking her head:

"But......"

Yi Tu, who was standing outside the door, listened quietly for a while, then turned and left.

Madam Hui didn't understand the guy's hesitation and thought it just didn't want to save Dong Qingshan.

But Yitu guessed the real reason and the words that Ali kept repeating but couldn't say out loud.

But I have given you my only heart.

I don't have another heart to give.
