Chapter 76 Is it really that bad?
When Tao Tao arrived at the Privy Council, everyone at the entrance recognized her and called out in unison, "Miss Tao."
She paused for a moment, then chuckled dryly, "I came here to..."
"Please go ahead!"
The two men made way for her to go inside.
His attitude was even more respectful than before, and he did not stop her.
She waved her hand and said, "I won't go in. Please take this food box to Lord Chen."
The two men looked at each other, their faces showing difficulty and a hint of apology, and said, "Miss Tao, I'm sorry, we can't deliver this. Why don't you deliver it in yourself?"
"Can't we deliver it? Why?"
One of them said, "We are both on duty and cannot leave our posts without permission."
"Oh, I see. Sorry, well, I'll wait a bit. But never mind, I'll go in then."
Tao Tao glanced at the food box, thinking that it wouldn't be good if it got cold.
She went inside, only to realize where she was going in this huge mansion. She then turned back to the entrance to ask.
Where is your Fourth Master usually located?
"He is probably in the study at this time."
Which way do I get there?
He pointed to the corridor: "Follow this road to the end and then turn left. Along the way, you will pass the auxiliary offices, the offices in the capital, and the proofreading room. Then turn right and walk forward for about half an incense stick's time. Pass through a garden and go through the artificial hill. You'll be there soon."
"No, it's so complicated?" Tao Tao looked at him in surprise.
"Miss Tao, you'll understand after walking it a couple more times."
She stood in the middle of the garden, looking at the network of paths around her, and scratched her head.
"That's strange, I clearly followed the directions he gave me."
Suddenly, voices mixed with footsteps came from not far away, gradually approaching.
"In a while, the Fourth Prince and I will go hunting in the suburbs with His Majesty. You need to pay close attention to the Imperial City Guard's patrols in the capital, especially after curfew, to prevent any major mishaps."
Ye Chengxian, standing beside him, nodded and said, "Yes, Lord Chen."
Just as Chen Jinghe was about to walk forward, he suddenly stopped, his gaze turned cold, and he looked up at the place hidden by the artificial hill, slowly drawing the sharp sword from his waist.
Upon seeing this, Ye Chengxian was about to ask a question, but was stopped by his eyes.
Tao Tao turned around, and suddenly her pupils dilated in shock. A sharp blade, gleaming with a cold light, was pressed against her neck, startling her instantly.
"My lord, spare his life!"
As she spoke, she looked up and suddenly looked at them with a surprised expression.
"It's you?!"
"Tao Tao?!"
The two of them cried out at the same time.
Chen Jinghe frowned, his expression displeased, and he crossed his arms, scrutinizing her from head to toe.
"No unauthorized personnel are allowed in the Privy Council. How did you get in?"
"I walked in."
She said matter-of-factly, and shoved the food box in her hand into his arms, "You have the nerve to say that? Were you lying to me about that snake soup last time?"
When the topic of the snake soup came up, his face immediately fell.
He thought his grandfather didn't know he was the one who did it, but he never expected that every meal after that consisted of snake meat. Even now, his mouth still tastes fishy, which disgusts him.
I can't eat anything and have lost at least ten pounds.
He said irritably, "Didn't you also complain to Fourth Master?"
Upon hearing that he was wronging her, she immediately glared at him and said, "I didn't! Do you think I'm that kind of person? Don't judge me by my own standards."
Chen Jinghe was taken aback. Could it be that Fourth Master had guessed it?
Thinking about it carefully, it's not surprising that Fourth Master knew everything, so it's not surprising that he knew it was him.
He softened his tone and said, "Then what brings you here this time? Bringing snake soup again?"
"Would I dare send snake soup again?! Send the fish you made this time over quickly, lest your noble envoy go hungry."
"I'm leaving."
Without waiting for his reply, Tao Tao turned and left.
Ye Chengxian, standing to the side, was completely stunned. He never expected that Lord Chen would be so familiar with her. He had almost forgotten that since Lord Duan was so close to her, Lord Chen must be familiar with her too.
Thinking of this, he quickly said, "Lord Chen, I will see Miss Tao off."
Chen Jinghe, holding the food box, watched in surprise as the others ran after her.
"Hey! What are you giving me?!"
"Tao Tao! No, you should take the food yourself!"
He quickly stepped forward and blocked their path, stuffing the food box back into Tao Tao's arms with a look of reluctance on his face.
If she cooks terribly again this time, then those things will definitely appear in his meal next time.
"Delivering food won't kill you, will it?!"
She looked at him speechlessly.
Chen Jinghe thought to himself, that was more painful than death.
"Forget it, where is your Fourth Master? I'll deliver it myself, I don't need you."
"No, you have to lead the way. This Privy Council is too big; I can't figure it out."
Ye Chengxian glanced at the two of them and said cautiously, "Then I shall take my leave?"
Chen Jinghe waved his hand, his head aching.
With him leading the way, we arrived at the study quickly.
When he got to the study, he realized that this was not a place she could enter, so he took the food box from her hand and knocked on the pear wood carved door.
"Fourth Master?"
"Enter."
A deep voice came from inside, and he pushed open the door and went in.
Seeing that it was none of her business, Tao Tao turned and left.
Chen Jinghe placed the food box on the table. "Fourth Master, this was sent by Tao Tao."
Upon hearing this, Duan Gan put down the folded document in his hand, looked at the familiar food box, and asked, "Has she left?"
"No, I'm waiting at the door."
"Let her in."
Should we let her in?
Chen Jinghe couldn't help but look at him in confusion, and only when the man looked up at him did Chen Jinghe come back to his senses.
"Yes, Fourth Master."
He walked out the door, about to call her, when he suddenly realized she was gone. He hurriedly ran out to look for her.
Finally, I saw her back halfway there and shouted, "Tao Tao! Why are you leaving?"
The person who heard the noise stopped and turned around. They saw Chen Jinghe and saw him run up to her in a few steps. They asked suspiciously, "What happened? Was that fish really that bad?"
Otherwise, why would he have chased after him?
She frowned slightly, waiting for him to speak.
He shook his head and said, panting, "No, it's Fourth Master who wants to see you."
Her eyes widened immediately. Was this so bad that she was going to hold her accountable? Fine, fine, I won't make it again. She even burned her hand.
Tao Tao followed behind him, looking down at her reddened fingertips.
"Fourth Master, Tao Tao is here."
She stood behind him, not hearing his response, and cautiously looked up to observe her surroundings.
The study is quite large. On the right side is a large semi-transparent landscape screen, through which you can vaguely see a military sand table, which is a battlefield sand table used for battle layout.
Duan Gan said, "Go down."
After bowing and clasping his hands in greeting, Chen Jinghe turned and left. Tao Tao, lost in her own thoughts, followed behind him as he walked away.
Did I say you could leave?
The man's voice was calm and pointed.
Chen Jinghe turned around and saw Tao Tao following behind him, winking and reminding her.
