Chapter 89 Unexpected

Chapter 89 Unexpected

"Huh? Why are you mute?"

Duan Gan reached out and flicked her smooth forehead with his finger, making a crisp sound.

Tao Tao cried out, instantly snapping back to reality. She covered her slightly red forehead and stared at him resentfully, saying, "It doesn't hurt! It doesn't hurt at all."

After saying that, she walked straight past him and headed forward, her cheeks puffed up with anger. Anyone with eyes could see that she was being sarcastic.

She had only taken a couple of steps when someone grabbed her by the back of her neck and lifted her up effortlessly.

The sudden feeling of emptiness made her panic, and she reached out and scratched wildly.

"What are you doing?! Are you sick or have you forgotten to take your medicine?"

His voice was slightly cold: "Are you saying I'm sick?"

"Hey, put me down!"

Frustrated, Tao Tao reached out and tried to tear off her clothes, but his grip was too strong, and she couldn't get them off, instead getting herself all sweaty.

"Your temper is getting worse and worse. How dare you speak to me like that?! Who gave you the audacity?!"

Duan Gan used his other hand to grab her haphazardly grabbing hand, and Tao Tao simply threw the white lantern in her left hand on the ground and pried open the large hand in her right hand.

With a soft "poof," the white lantern went out instantly, but fortunately, some were still hanging on the tree, preventing the place from becoming completely dark.

Even if a young woman has little strength, she can still make quite a fuss when she gets going.

With her hands captured, she still had her feet, and at worst, her fangs. She could always make the person in front of her suffer. Did he think she was so easy to mess with?

She kicked him, which immediately annoyed him. He bent his knees to block her kick, and instead of holding her by the back of her neck, he grabbed her by the neck.

He held her vital spot in his hand, yet she felt no fear whatsoever.

He didn't use much force, afraid of hurting her little arms and legs, which only emboldened her to be arrogant and unruly.

"What's all the commotion about?!"

He narrowed his eyes dangerously, tightened his grip on her neck slightly, and instantly she couldn't breathe. She quickly grabbed his fingers with both hands, trying to catch her breath.

Her fair face immediately turned as pink as a peach.

She hurriedly patted his hand, tears welling in her eyes, as if she were about to collapse at any moment.

Duan Gan was startled and quickly let go, only to see her eyes turn cold as she opened her mouth and pounced on him, biting his chin directly.

He leaned back, unable to dodge in time. He happened to be standing on a small hillside, and when she pounced on him, he lost his footing and the two of them fell into the bushes at the same time, as if they were laughing together.

Little did they know that there was a downhill slope behind the bushes, and the two rolled down it, with things rushing past them, accompanied by countless stones and obstacles.

Her pupils constricted, and she screamed in fear.

He frowned, reached out and hugged Tao Tao tightly, covering her with his cloak to protect her from the possibility of being scratched by branches and stones.

The wind whistled past his ears, and Duan Gan felt dizzy as he tumbled downwards.

Until his head hit a large rock, he groaned, his vision went black, and he passed out.

Tao Tao was held protectively in his arms, her head covered by a cloak, her vision completely obscured by darkness. She felt the calm subside, and after a while, noticing he wasn't moving, she reached out and nudged him.

"Duan Gan? Duan Gan??"

Boom!!

A dull rumble of thunder struck overhead, and a silver streak flashed across the night sky, instantly illuminating it as bright as day.

She pulled off the cloak wrapped around her and looked up, only to find that his eyes were closed, as if he had fainted.

She couldn't help but feel a little anxious, and reached out to pat his face: "Duan Gan?? Wake up? Lord Duan?"

She couldn't be woken up, so she started to panic and looked around.

Before anyone knew it, the moonlight had quietly hidden itself away, and now it was pitch black all around, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. From time to time, the howls of wild beasts could be heard in the distance.

Another bolt of lightning ripped through the sky, and in its light, she saw the stark white bones scattered across the ground.

Tao Tao braced herself against the ground, trying to get up. Inadvertently, she touched something hard. Curious, she explored it and found it was a strip-shaped object.

She immediately realized what it was, and was terrified. She quickly threw it aside.

“Duan Gan…”

"What kind of hellhole is this?"

Her voice was trembling as she wondered if he had hit his head, and she quickly reached out to touch it.

As a result, she actually felt a sticky, damp, and hot hand on the back of his head. When she brought her palm to her nose and sniffed it, the metallic smell hit her nostrils, and she immediately knew she was doomed.

"Don't die! If you die, won't I be buried with you?!"

Awooo! Awooo!

The howls of wolves echoed from afar.

Then came a rustling sound from the bushes, as if something was gradually approaching.

Tao Tao's eyes lit up with alertness. She held her breath and looked around.

Upon seeing a pair of shimmering green eyes appear in the distance, she gasped silently.

"My goodness... we've won the lottery..."

So, were all these people eaten by wolves until only bones remained? What if she doesn't know martial arts?

Her eyes were slightly vacant as she said softly, "Duan Gan, if you don't wake up soon, we'll both be devoured by wolves."

Even so, she wouldn't just sit and wait to die. Fortunately, she still had her bag on her, and the dagger and tinder she always carried were still there.

Roll the cloak on the ground into a ball, then randomly select a good bone and wrap it around it.

She touched what felt like a shinbone and said soothingly, "I'm sorry, senior. Once I get out, I will definitely come back to pay my respects to you and burn lots of money for you."

Soon, pairs of green eyes appeared all around, emerging like will-o'-the-wisps.

He took out some special alcohol from his bag and poured it on his clothes. He lit a torch, illuminating the gaunt, hungry wolves that were staring at them menacingly.

Awoo!

With a roar, the alpha wolf charged forward.

Tao Tao's gaze was resolute, and she did not back down. Holding a torch in one hand and gripping a dagger in the other, she charged straight at the enemy in an instant.

Before long, the alpha wolf was burned in the abdomen by the blazing torch in her hand. It howled and hurriedly retreated, while the other hungry wolves surrounded it.

The ball of fire in his hand made the pack of hungry wolves eager to attack, yet they dared not approach directly.

All it could do was gape open, baring its teeth and howling.

Tick-tock...

Suddenly it started raining.

She looked up at the gloomy sky, where large raindrops relentlessly pelted her face.

"Oh no..."

The wind, mixed with rain, made the torches flicker, allowing the hungry wolves to regroup.

Just then, she noticed out of the corner of her eye that a dark figure was rushing towards Duan Ganfei on the ground, and she quickly turned around and reached out to block it.

The sharp fangs bit directly into her thin wrist, causing her to wince in pain. She reacted quickly, kicking the blade with all her might.

The hungry wolf held on tightly, its belly caved in even as it was kicked, but it refused to let go.
