Chapter 213

Chapter 213

Tao Tao tied a handkerchief around her neck to stop the bleeding.

"Come, let me help you to bed to rest."

Tao's mother stared at her face in despair and said sorrowfully, "Give me back my daughter! Give her back! You monster! She's not my daughter at all..."

"I am your daughter, Mother, what kind of delusions are you having..."

She held her hand tightly, her eyes filled with worry.

At this moment, Tao's mother was pale and dizzy due to excessive blood loss. She was very resistant and could not easily pull her hand away from Tao's grasp.

“If I were really not your daughter, I wouldn’t have thought about taking you back, I wouldn’t have thought about finding your husband, I wouldn’t have thought about giving us all a good life, and I certainly wouldn’t have let Tao Liang go to school.”

“Mother, everyone changes. In that situation, if we didn’t change, we would only die.”

Tao Tao held her tightly in her arms, but placed her right hand on the side of her injured neck, pressing it intentionally or unintentionally, causing her to be unable to speak due to the pain.

"As for what you like to eat and what you don't like to eat, that's utter nonsense. A person can't possibly like the same thing all the time. It's perfectly normal for something you like to turn into something you don't like."

As she spoke, she picked him up and placed him on the bed, standing by the bedside watching Tao's mother silently weep again.

Tao's mother stopped speaking and looked at her, as if she had tacitly agreed with her words, or as if she was speechless and did not know how to refute them.

But once again she felt Tao Tao's sharp tongue and couldn't help but compare her now to her previous daughter.

The daughter used to listen to her in everything, obedient and gentle. Now, this person is domineering, brooks no argument, is single-mindedly ambitious, and full of ruthless malice.

Moreover, she would pretend, pretending to be the same person she used to be to deceive herself.

As her own daughter's biological mother, how could she not notice something was wrong with her? But she had clearly seen the mole on her palm, something only her own daughter would have.

This discovery only allowed her to convince herself every day that the person in front of her was her daughter.

As she thought about it more, her head started to feel dizzy again. In her hazy consciousness, reality and memories intertwined in her mind, instantly pulling her back to five years ago.

"Mother, Mother! Save me! Save me!"

The eleven-year-old girl's eyes were red, and tears streamed down her face as she frantically called out to the woman lying on the ground, half-conscious.

At such a young age, she couldn't break free from the man in front of her who was grabbing her arm and pulling her away with all his might.

Overwhelmed by maternal love, Tao's mother, her head covered in blood, swayed as she stood up. Her pale face was streaked with a mixture of blood and tears, a sight that was both terrifying and pitiful.

She cried out, "Tao Yuan, she's your daughter! How could you bear to sell her!"

Tao Yuan turned around and grinned maliciously: "Didn't you want to leave? Didn't you want to go back? Then I'll help you get rid of this burden."

“You are a high and mighty princess, and you’ve always felt ashamed to be with a lowly guard like me. Well then, I’ll clean up all these stains for you, and then we’ll go back to Xia Kingdom.”

Tao's mother was stunned, tears streaming down her face, her lips trembling.

Her daughter was indeed born when she felt most humiliated, and she always had very mixed feelings about her daughter.

Back then, she was the high and mighty Princess Xia Chaohua of the Xia Kingdom. Later, due to a rebellion, the palace fell into chaos, and her mother and father arranged for people to escort her away, who is now Tao Yuan.

Perhaps because he was the only person she could rely on, she couldn't help but develop a special feeling for Tao Yuan. But she always remembered that she was a princess of the Xia Kingdom and could never spend her life with such a person.

However, he disregarded her wishes and forcibly took her, later taking her to the Celestial Empire thousands of miles away, completely depriving her of any chance to escape.

After a period of peaceful life, and because he treated her very well and indulged her in everything, she later chose to open a funeral shop in order to live in anonymity.

Until he became addicted to three things, his temper became increasingly volatile. After he hit her once, he went even further. When she could no longer bear it, she began to look for an opportunity to escape.

When Tao Yuan found out, what devastated her even more was that she was pregnant.

Now that her son is two years old, she is really worried about him, so she plans to leave her daughter behind first, as her daughter is sensible and will understand her predicament.

Not long ago, just as she was about to escape under Tao Tao's cover, Tao Yuan returned. He saw the bundle in her hand and the child she was about to pick up, and beat her up.

Now she has to sell her daughter. She knows that she must have lost money at the gambling den again and is thinking of selling her daughter to pay off her debts, but she has no way to take her two children back.

She could only take her toddler son and flee this place. Once she returned to Xia Kingdom, someone would surely come to pick her up.

But now everything has vanished like a bubble.

She was unwilling to accept that she, a princess, had fallen to such a state.

Xia Chaohua looked around and saw a wood-chopping knife on the ground. A hint of murderous intent flashed in his eyes. He took a deep breath, mustered his courage, quickly picked it up, and rushed towards Tao Yuan.

The little girl was still struggling with Tao Yuan. Seeing this, Tao Yuan became angry and slapped her hard. The slap was loud and her face swelled up, and her ears were ringing.

Her eyes were filled with hatred. She opened her mouth and bit down hard on his tiger's mouth, using all her strength, her body trembling.

Tao Yuan screamed, released his grip, and raised his foot to kick her away.

In that critical moment, Tao Tao caught a glimpse of her mother rushing towards her with a knife out of the corner of her eye. She looked up at him and shoved him away.

With a soft thud, the sound of a knife piercing flesh sent chills down one's spine; it was utterly terrifying.

Xia Chaohua stared wide-eyed, his eyes bloodshot, terrified as he stared intently at the machete piercing his hand.

She only came to her senses when the warm blood seeped onto the back of her hand, and screamed in terror.

Tao Yuan looked down at the knife in his stomach in shock. Just as he was about to speak, a mouthful of blood gushed from his mouth. He reached out and grabbed her collar with one hand, and tried to strangle her with the other.

Suddenly, a force came from his back, followed by the sound of flesh being pierced, and the machete, still with a section of its blade remaining, pierced through him instantly.

Xia Chaohua screamed in despair, his palms burning as if on fire. He hurriedly shook off his hands, took a step back, his heels went weak, and he and Tao Yuan fell to the ground together.

Tao Tao, Tao Yuan's daughter, was standing behind him. Her face was ashen, and her eyes were filled with fear. When she saw her mother on the ground, she rushed over and burst into tears.

With a loud rumble, thunder rumbled in the once clear sky, pounding heavily overhead.

Looking at her daughter nestled in her arms, she broke down in tears. She had killed someone; she could never return to the Xia Kingdom.

If she just leaves like this, someone will definitely find out, and then her wanted posters will be posted all over the streets and alleys.
