Chapter 127 Pretty Little Things

Chapter 127 Pretty Little Things

Duan Gan stood by the table, looking at the unsuspecting Tao Tao with a hint of helplessness in his expression, and sighed silently.

He bent down, reached out, picked her up, and carried her out of the study towards the bedroom.

Behind them, a brightly colored long-tailed parrot flapped its wings and followed closely.

A magnificent robe swept through the air like a gust of wind, passing by the doorway. Leng Qiao stood stiffly to the side, her head lowered, her face pale, her eyelashes trembling nervously, like a wooden stake.

In the east wing, Xixin had just gotten up to use the restroom. Rubbing her eyes, she walked out in a daze and saw the door of the east wing open, with a tall and imposing figure flashing by.

As she rubbed her eyes hard, trying to see clearly, a figure suddenly appeared in front of her, blocking her view.

Xi Xin looked up in confusion, "Leng Qiao, why are you standing here so late at night instead of sleeping?"

Leng Qiao remained expressionless, her eyes icy, and said calmly, "I also get up at night like you. Do you want to go with me? I'll go with you."

"Huh? You're wearing this to get up in the middle of the night?"

She looked Leng Qiao up and down at her outfit, scratched her head and wondered, "Could it be that all the guards sleep dressed like this?"

They didn't even mind the discomfort.

However, the figure she just saw going into the room didn't seem to be the boss.

Xi Xin peeked out and saw that the door to the east wing was already closed.

Leng Qiao glanced at her sideways without changing her expression, then moved her feet and reached out to grab her arm.

"Let's go."

Xi Xin's pupils dilated in shock. She looked down in astonishment at the hand that was holding hers, blinking in confusion.

When did she become so enthusiastic? Sure enough, everyone who works under the boss, no matter what their personality was like before, will eventually change for the better.

And so, Xixin let Leng Qiao drag her away.

As the two turned around, the candlelight flickered, and the doorway reflected the shadow of a tall figure carrying a slender girl in his arms.

The man lowered his head and gazed at the obedient girl. Her sleeping appearance was more tranquil and well-behaved than when she was usually active. His heart was like a calm lake where a pebble had been thrown in, causing ripples to spread.

He weighed her up and down, then frowned.

It's too light, it has no weight at all.

He went into the inner room, gently placed her on the bed, and covered her with the blankets.

Sitting beside her, his tender gaze remained fixed on her fair and soft face.

Finally, he couldn't resist reaching out his fingertips to trace her eyebrows, long, curled eyelashes, delicate nose, and moist, rosy lips, exhaling warm, moist breath.

Thinking to myself, her quiet demeanor is quite endearing.

quack--

Duan Gan frowned, turned his head impatiently, and said coldly, "Shut up."

The parrot that had been pacing back and forth on the screen tilted its head, blinked its beady black eyes, and actually spoke in human language.

"Kitten! Eat kitten!"

Suddenly, a soft whooshing sound rang out, and the next second the parrot fell headfirst to the ground.

Just as it was about to scream, it found that it couldn't open its mouth. In a panic, it flapped its wings wildly and flew around the room.

"If you want to die, then keep struggling."

The voice carried a distinct murderous intent, and in the blink of an eye, the parrot stopped, its wings trembling with fear, and obediently returned to the screen.

It turned its head to look at its rump, where a few beautiful and delicate tail feathers were missing. Its eyes were filled with tears and resentment.

The next morning.

The girl lying on the bed turned over, and the next second she suddenly sat up, a few strands of hair sticking up unruly.

Tao Tao looked around blankly, tilted her head in confusion, wondering when she had returned, as she had no recollection of it.

Just then, a brightly colored, dazzling bird caught her eye through the window.

The golden sunlight streamed in through the gaps, falling directly on the bird and making its already dazzling feathers shine like gold dust.

"Huh? Who are you? What are you doing here?"

She couldn't resist getting out of bed and walking towards the birds.

She is really beautiful; she liked her at first sight.

She reached out and slowly touched the bird's crest, tentatively and gently.

The parrot tilted its head to look at her, looking adorably silly, but it didn't avoid her touch. Instead, it raised its head and rubbed against her fingers.

"You're so cute."

She sighed from the bottom of her heart.

As if it understood, the parrot proudly puffed out its little chest and flapped its wings.

Her haughty demeanor only made her more adorable.

"You must be a parrot, right? Can you talk? Hmm?"

Tao Tao scratched the soft fur on its chin. It was fluffy. It is said that parrots can understand human nature, and some can even talk. She wondered where this parrot came from and whether it had been trained.

"cat!"

A sharp, hoarse sound suddenly burst from its mouth, startling her so much that she quickly backed away.

"Hey, did you just say something? That was so awful!"

She stared at it with wide eyes in surprise, then her lips twitched slightly at the sound it had just made, a hint of disdain in her expression.

"You brat! You stinky brat..."

This time she heard clearly, put her hands on her hips, and said irritably, "How dare you swear at me like that? Who are you calling a brat!"

"Bad! Bad, bad!"

Hearing this, Tao Tao became even angrier and reached out to grab it. The parrot dodged, spread its wings, and flew up, swirling arrogantly above her head.

"How am I bad? I just praised you for being cute, and you were the one who insulted me first!"

"Get out of here and go back to where you came from!"

She darted out the door and let it fly out on its own.

But to my surprise, it flew around the room aimlessly, refusing to fly out.

She didn't want to keep it; judging by its appearance, it might be a pet that had escaped from the home of some wealthy or powerful person.

If she takes it in, it's theft, and she definitely won't let it go.

"boss!"

She heard a soft sound outside and came in carrying water for washing. Suddenly, she saw a streak of light fly past her.

Xi Xin screamed in terror, "What is that! Ah! Don't come any closer..."

"Boss, help!"

She hurriedly ran behind Tao Tao to hide, burying her head in Tao Tao's back, not daring to look at her.

"It's nothing, it's just a parrot."

Tao Tao turned her head to comfort her. When the bird saw Xi Xin's frightened appearance, it landed on the screen and cackled mockingly, looking very smug.

She looked at the bird's arrogant manner and found it somewhat amusing, then patted her head in exasperation.

After waiting for a while, Xixin finally dared to raise her head and peek out with her eyes.

She glanced at it, and her face immediately lit up with excitement. Her eyes lit up, and she pointed at it, saying, "Boss, this bird is so beautiful!"

The parrot looked at the finger pointing at it, then suddenly lunged forward, its sharp beak slashing at her finger.

Fortunately, Tao Tao reacted quickly, pulling Xi Xin behind her and blocking her in front of her, then grabbing her by the neck.

Seeing this, the parrot flapped its wings wildly and squawked incoherently, its cries shrill and mournful, as if someone had done something to it.
