Chapter 166

Chapter 166

Tao Tao looked down at her and said, "Did you write anything in here?"

Tu Miaoling nodded: "Yes."

After listening, Tao Tao looked at the words on the envelope. Her handwriting was easy to recognize, though it was crooked and messy. It read "To my beloved, dear one" in large characters.

"What is this? A love letter from that pretty boy?!"

Boss Tu suddenly jumped out and reached out to snatch the letter from her hand.

"Let go!"

Tao Tao frowned, staring coldly at him, and turned away to avoid his snatching. "Uncle Tu, what are you doing? Why don't you go out for a bit? It's best not to look at a young lady's things."

"That's right, that's right, get out of here, this is my room!"

Tu Miaoling didn't care that this was her father and chimed in without any politeness.

He snorted coldly, "Don't you dare learn bad habits from me..."

Seeing that he was still talking, Tao Tao impatiently pushed him away, saying, "I'm sorry, Uncle Tu, I've offended you."

She gave an apologetic smile, slammed the door shut with both hands.

Then she turned around and sat down opposite Tu Miaoling, and began to examine the letters. After a while, she found that they were all sweet nothings.

If this gets out, it will definitely be criticized.

"Oh dear, these are all the same, you'd better not look at them."

Tu Miaoling shyly placed her hand on the letter, her cheeks flushed, looking quite embarrassed.

Tao Tao sighed silently. These sweet words were especially powerful for a young girl just beginning to experience love, particularly since the person who wrote them was quite good-looking.

Although she had never seen them in person and had only heard about them from Tu Miaoling, the top courtesans were generally good-looking.

"No, you understand all of this? What's with all this 'longing for you,' 'short longing,' 'endless longing,' 'watching the sky at dawn and the clouds at dusk,' 'thinking of you whether walking or sitting,' it's all so cheesy."

Tu Miaoling chuckled, somewhat embarrassed: "I attended two classes in school when I was young, and I could barely understand them."

“I’ve taken all these letters. If he sends anyone else to deliver another letter, remember to let me know.”

Upon hearing Tao Tao's words, she immediately made a face and said, "Why do you want to take it away? I need to see it day and night."

"You're getting dumber the more I look at you!" She pushed Tu Miaoling's forehead with her finger in an annoyed tone.

No matter what she said, Tao Tao simply took the letter, stuffed it into her bosom, opened the door, and walked out.

After leaving the house, she did not go home. First, she went to the pawnshop to find out if there was any truth to it. Then she went to the Wufu Gambling House. Finally, she saw Wan Guirong eating with a group of thugs at a wonton stall.

Wan Guirong was drinking his wonton soup when suddenly a shadow fell over his head, and someone was standing next to him.

He frowned, looked up, and asked impatiently, "Who are you? How dare you block your grandfather's light? Be smart and get out of my way!"

"Are you Wan Guirong?"

The young woman in front of him looked soft and weak, and although she had no expression, she seemed easy to bully.

He wiped his greasy lips with his hand and said irritably, "I am, so what, you little wench, what do you want?"

At the same time, the men sitting together also stood up, looking at her with fierce expressions.

To his surprise, the young woman, whom they had intentionally threatened, remained expressionless and showed no fear whatsoever, which made Wan Guirong feel somewhat frustrated.

Everyone around him treated him with utmost respect, yet this young lady wasn't afraid of him at all.

"You'd better watch your mouth, or I'll get angry."

Tao Tao sat down on her own and poured herself a cup of tea.

Her arrogant attitude enraged Wan Guirong. He glared at her, clenched his fist, and swung it fiercely at her head.

Those present quickly moved away, feeling a pang of worry for the frail young woman before them.

The waving fist sent a gust of wind through her hair, but she seemed oblivious, remaining motionless.

In that critical moment, Wan Guirong's fist was suddenly clenched tightly, the force so great that he let out a scream, his face contorted in pain.

Immediately following was a crisp cracking sound and another scream; his wrist bone had been snapped.

The henchmen beside him were shocked and rushed to attack Leng Qiao.

These amateurish skills were no match for Leng Qiao. In just a few exchanges, the ground was littered with thugs groaning in pain.

Wan Guirong's face was grim. He looked around and, surprisingly, didn't run away. Holding his severed right hand, he recklessly grabbed a stool and charged towards Leng Qiao.

"You asked for this. I originally wanted to talk things out, but who knew you were so eager to get beaten up."

Tao Tao looked at the disheveled group of people on the ground with a smile on her face.

"Oh my god! My table! My chair... How could you do this... Everything's broken, how am I supposed to do business?!"

The stall owner, his face contorted with grief, stared at the wrecked remains of tables and chairs scattered on the ground, tears welling up in his eyes.

It's heartbreaking, but when you encounter these things, you can only say you're unlucky.

Seeing this, Tao Tao reached for her waist, then suddenly remembered that she had given all her money to Tu Miaoling. She then reached out to Leng Qiao.

Leng Qiao immediately understood and took out a piece of silver from her waist and placed it in her hand.

"Stadium owner, is this enough?"

The stall owner was tidying up the broken bowls and cups when he looked up and saw a shiny piece of silver right in front of him. His expression immediately changed and he broke into a joyful smile.

He quickly nodded: "Enough, enough, thank you, young lady."

"That's good. Could you also get me a bowl of wontons?"

"Okay, okay, I'll be right there."

After recovering, the people on the ground quickly got up and ran forward.

Wan Guirong failed to escape, as Leng Qiao blocked his way.

"Brother Wan, please sit down. Don't be afraid. I just want to ask you something. You can leave after I'm done."

Hearing the light, melodious voice behind him, Wan Guirong froze, staring at the cold-faced woman in front of him.

She said coldly, "My young lady told you to sit down, didn't you hear me?"

He chuckled dryly a few times, raised his hands, and said, "Fine, fine, I'll sit down, okay?" He was extremely annoyed that he had run into a tough opponent.

He never expected that this seemingly ordinary young lady was actually a young lady from another family.

"What do you want to ask me? Please speak."

Wan Guirong unconsciously used honorifics when speaking, and his face looked somewhat uneasy.

Thinking that he hadn't offended any important figures recently, he figured that going to collect the debt was just to scare them, otherwise they wouldn't pay him back.

"Did you lend money to a young woman named Tu Miaoling?"

Tu Miaoling?

Wan Guirong's expression changed slightly, but he quickly returned to normal.

He scratched his head in confusion, pretending to think carefully, and then said, "It seems there is such a person. What's wrong? Did this young lady offend you?"

Tao Tao glanced at him and said calmly, "Just answer my questions, don't waste your breath."
