Looking at the phone that was abruptly hung up, Shen Jiayu shook his head and smiled indulgently.
Su Ping opened the door and, sure enough, saw Tu Hengchuan standing downstairs wearing a mask.
His hair seemed to have grown a bit longer, but his skin hadn't gotten much tanned.
Hearing the noise, Tu Hengchuan looked up and saw her. He took a few steps toward her, his voice sounding very happy: "You're here?"
Su Ping nodded: "Brother Chuan, it's so late, is there something you need?"
Hearing the familiar "Brother Chuan" from afar, Tu Hengchuan was filled with emotion.
Thankfully, she's still alive.
"Pingping, I came to see you as soon as I finished filming today. Can we go somewhere together? I have something I want to tell you."
Tu Hengchuan walked over and shook Su Ping's hand, his words full of sincerity.
Su Ping got into the car with him. The car was quiet, but Tu Hengchuan kept talking, talking about the interesting things that happened during filming. Later, he rolled down the window to let in the evening breeze and held Su Ping's hand tightly.
He suddenly wished the road could be longer, so he could hold Pingping's hand forever.
Finally, the car stopped under a big tree.
"Pingping, close your eyes and wait for me in the car, okay?"
Without waiting for her to reply, he got out of the car and took things from the trunk to set things up.
Su Ping rested her chin on her hand, glanced at Tu Hengchuan who was busy under the moonlight, and suddenly felt sleepy.
But she immediately patted her cheeks; she couldn't be sleepy now, she had a performance to do later.
A few minutes later, Tu Hengchuan finished making the arrangements, and Su Ping quickly lay back in the chair and closed her eyes.
Seeing Pingping waiting for him with her eyes closed, Tu Hengchuan felt a warmth in his heart, opened the car door, and pulled her out of the car.
"Don't open your eyes, I'm holding your hand, don't be afraid."
Tu Hengchuan covered Su Ping's eyes with one hand and led her away with the other.
Su Ping couldn't help but complain in her heart. This place was full of rocks. If she accidentally fell, she would definitely drag that bastard Tu Hengchuan down with her!
It took them three or four minutes to walk a distance of just a few dozen meters.
Finally, Tu Hengchuan released her, and a light appeared in front of them.
It was a door made of flowers, decorated with lights. It looked hastily built, but it still looked quite decent.
"It's a bit simple, please don't mind."
Tu Hengchuan stopped in front of her, like a child.
"This is?"
Su Ping looked at Tu Hengchuan and asked.
"This is a place my mother used to bring me when I was little. She said that there was a fairy living in this tree, and that any wish you made to it would come true."
Su Ping stared blankly at the big tree not far away, then saw Tu Hengchuan walk over and kneel down on one knee as if he had made up his mind, and then take out a box from his pocket.
"Pingping, I've finally come to understand my own heart, so tonight I'd like to ask the tree spirit to be my witness and stay with me, okay?"
Inside the box was another earring that matched the blue one on his ear, shining brightly under the light.
Tu Hengchuan was a little nervous; his hands were trembling.
Then he watched as Su Ping walked towards him, stopped in front of him, and helped him up.
Did she promise herself?
When Tu Hengchuan reached out to hug Su Ping to express his joy, he saw Su Ping take two steps back to avoid his embrace.
Seeing Su Ping's hesitant expression, Tu Hengchuan's smile froze on his face: "Pingping, what's wrong with you...?"
Su Ping looked at him, tears welling up in her eyes, and said, "Brother Chuan, it's impossible for us anymore. It deserves a better girl."
Upon hearing this, Tu Hengchuan felt his mind go blank and subconsciously stepped forward to take the earring out of the box and place it in Su Ping's hand.
"No, I don't want to give it to anyone else, and I don't like anyone else either. Pingping, what happened? Please don't abandon me."
Su Ping shoved him away, ignoring the earring that slipped from their hands and fell to the ground.
"I said it's impossible for us, don't you understand? It's impossible..."
"Yes, I really wanted that earring of yours before, but now I'm not worthy to wear it anymore, Tu Hengchuan. Forget me, okay?"
"If I say you're qualified, then you are qualified!"
Tu Hengchuan didn't want to hear any more of her self-deprecating words, so he couldn't help but interrupt her and pick up the earring from the ground.
“I was too hasty today and didn’t pay attention to your feelings, but this earring can only be yours. If you don’t want it now, I’ll keep it for you and put it on you myself when the time is right.”
After saying that, he came over and tried to grab Su Ping's hand, but Su Ping shook him off.
"I don't want it now, and I won't want it in the future, Tu Hengchuan. Let's let each other go."
After saying that, she closed her eyes, and a tear rolled down her cheek.
Tu Hengchuan panicked a little and took two steps forward to hug her: "Pingping, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have yelled at you. Has something happened to you lately? Please tell me."
In his arms, Su Ping simply shook her head silently, unwilling to say anything more.
In the end, Tu Hengchuan dared not mention the matter again. On the way back, he touched the earring in his pocket, looked at Su Ping who was sleeping against the car seat next to him, and especially after seeing her red eyes from crying, his heart ached so much that he could not breathe.
He should have noticed something was wrong sooner. Why was Pingping, who was usually so happy to see him, so quiet and withdrawn tonight? What had happened to her that made her like this?
In the end, Su Ping was carried out of the car by Tu Hengchuan. Su Zhinan saw his daughter being carried in by a strange man and subconsciously wanted to question him, but when he saw that face, he was dumbfounded.
Isn't that the actor?
Tu Hengchuan had read reports about Su Zhinan before and recognized him as Pingping's father.
After carrying Su Ping upstairs and placing her on the bed, he came downstairs and stood in front of Su Zhinan, respectfully calling out "Uncle".
With his gaze open and honest, Su Zhinan coughed lightly, looking somewhat embarrassed.
"You're back so early?"
Not only Tu Hengchuan, but even Aunt Mei, who was standing next to him, looked at him with disbelief.
Su Zhinan realized he had said something inappropriate and quickly changed the subject: "Can't you tell I'm questioning you? It's dark and windy outside, what kind of behavior is it for a man and a woman to be out alone!"
Tu Hengchuan quickly lowered his head, showing a good attitude in admitting his mistake.
"I'm sorry, Uncle. It won't happen again. It's all my fault. Please don't blame Pingping."
Su Zhinan thought to himself, "My daughter is so capable, why should I blame her?"
However, he didn't show it on his face. He hummed in response and then looked at Tu Hengchuan, saying, "It's good that you know it's your fault. It's getting late, so I won't keep you to sleep. You should go back now."
