There was no elevator, so Su Ping and the others followed the old woman up to the second floor.
The old woman went down the stairs and brought out two candles for them.
"This place is remote, and power outages are common. Here are two candles for you in case of emergency."
Su Ping took the candle with a puzzled look on her face. For some reason, she felt that something was off about the place.
The old woman pointed to the stairs next to her and said, "Alright, you can go up here."
"Remember, it's windy at night, and tree branches might hit the windows. If you hear them hitting the windows, just ignore them."
"Then, if it's not necessary, don't go out into the corridor. The upstairs is full of guests, and they'll be very grumpy if you wake them up."
After saying this, the old woman turned and went back to her room.
In the light of the wall lamp, her figure was indistinct.
"I feel like this place is weird."
Su Ping shrank back, took Lu Zhiyan's hand, and walked upstairs.
The lights upstairs were even dimmer, so Su Ping could only turn on her phone's flashlight.
The surroundings were quiet as Su Ping and Tie Niu slowly walked up to the third floor.
There were rooms on both sides. Su Ping looked through the rooms one by one and found that the room on the right was 316.
If it's 304, it should be over there.
Su Ping was walking in that direction when she suddenly paused as she passed by room 303 next door.
Because she saw that the door to room 303 was half open, and even though there was no wind, the door was swaying.
There was no one inside!
Su Ping's expression turned somewhat unpleasant, and she quickly grabbed Lu Zhiyan's hand and swiped her card to open the door to room 304.
As soon as I stepped into the house, I was hit by a musty smell.
Su Ping even wondered if she had been murdered by that old woman. How long had it been since anyone had lived in this room?
After tidying up the room briefly, Lu Zhiyan opened the window to let some fresh air in.
As soon as the window was opened, a strong wind blew in, carrying in many dry branches and fallen leaves.
It also had the salty, fishy smell of seawater.
It seems the old woman was right after all; the wind is indeed quite strong.
Lu Zhiyan tried to close the window, but found that she couldn't close it no matter what she did.
The evening breeze whistled into the room, sounding just like a baby crying.
Su Ping felt a chill run down her spine. She and Lu Zhiyan went up together and finally managed to close the window.
For some reason, she always felt uneasy.
When Su Ping was taking a shower, the power suddenly went out, plunging the bathroom into darkness.
Before she could speak, Lu Zhiyan had already pushed open the door and walked in with a candle.
"Don't be afraid."
Su Ping and Lu Zhiyan looked at each other, their eyes filled with worry, seemingly oblivious to the fact that something was amiss.
Finally, Su Ping blushed, hugged herself, turned around, and squatted down: "Get out!"
"But……"
Lu Zhiyan knew that if he went out into the bathroom, he would be plunged into darkness again, and he was afraid that Pingping would fall.
Seeing that he didn't move, Su Ping turned her head and looked over, only to find him holding a candle and staring at her with a conflicted expression.
"Put the candle aside, then go outside!"
Lu Zhiyan felt a little wronged when she suddenly spoke to him angrily.
But after seeing her bright red ears, I realized what was going on.
His gaze unconsciously fell on her snow-white back, and he subconsciously swallowed.
Pingping's back is so beautiful, he couldn't think of any adjectives to describe it, it was beyond words.
Before Su Ping could speak again, he had already placed the candle in the candlestick next to him and turned to close the bathroom door.
Seeing his awkward, clumsy back, Su Ping chuckled.
When she came out after taking a shower, Lu Zhiyan was still sitting blankly on the bed, not daring to look directly at her.
Su Ping wanted to tease him.
Faced with her sudden approach, Lu Zhiyan instinctively stepped back, almost falling backward onto the bed.
Su Ping laughed and took a clean towel from the shelf next to her.
"What are you doing? I just wanted you to sit a little to the side so I could dry my hair."
After realizing he was overthinking things, Lu Zhiyan's face turned bright red.
Suddenly, the only sound in the room was the sound of her drying her hair. Watching this scene, Lu Zhiyan felt as if something had filled his heart.
After drying her hair, Su Ping noticed that Lu Zhiyan was staring at her.
Lu Zhiyan was caught red-handed and quickly looked away.
He suddenly felt a bit hot and looked around the room.
To be fair, this old woman was quite shrewd in business; besides a bed, there wasn't even a chair or sofa in the room.
Su Ping noticed his embarrassment and said...
"Now that the weather is cooler, let's squeeze in together."
Looking at the only quilt, Lu Zhiyan thought for a while and then decided to go downstairs to ask the old woman for another quilt.
When Su Ping saw him get up, she quickly asked him where he was going.
Lu Zhiyan opened the door and said he would be back in a little while.
After saying that, he took his phone and went out.
Su Ping remembered what the old woman had said: don't go to the corridor unless necessary. For some reason, she suddenly felt a chill run down her spine.
By the time she caught up to the door, Lu Zhiyan had already reached the stairwell.
His figure flickered in the dim candlelight, making him somewhat indistinct, before finally disappearing at the top of the stairs.
Not knowing when he would return, Su Ping left the door slightly ajar.
[Huluwa, when can I go back tomorrow?]
[9:00 AM.]
The Calabash Brothers yawned, clearly exhausted.
Su Ping was puzzled and asked.
Why do we have to wait until 9 a.m.?
[Because the work schedule is 9 to 6, the person in charge only starts work at 9 AM.]
Hearing what the Calabash Brothers said, Su Ping almost laughed in anger.
It's that familiar 9-to-5 routine again.
She vaguely heard the sound of a doorbell ringing downstairs; it rang twice and then stopped.
It seems Lu Zhiyan has learned his lesson this time and didn't keep pressing the button.
Su Ping rubbed her slightly sore eyes and looked towards the doorway.
Why hasn't Lu Zhiyan returned yet?
The bell downstairs seemed to ring twice more. Su Ping was too lazy to wait for him, so she yawned, threw off the covers, and lay down.
She was half asleep when she was woken up by a knocking sound on the window.
The sound was a bit eerie, like someone was actually banging on the window outside.
But this is the third floor, and there can't possibly be anyone outside the window.
The noise outside the window was still going on, and Su Ping felt a chill run down her spine. How could this guesthouse be so scary!
She was alone in the room. Su Ping glanced at her phone; half an hour had passed.
The door was still ajar. Why hadn't Lu Zhiyan returned yet?
Just then, I heard faint footsteps outside the door.
Because it's exceptionally quiet at night, even the slightest noise is amplified.
Su Ping listened to the footsteps approaching from the stairwell and finally stopping outside the door.
Why did it take you so long?
Su Ping yawned, turned over and sat up in bed, intending to go to the toilet.
The moment she closed the bathroom door, the half-closed bedroom door was also pushed open.
