Chapter 314 Lying

Su Ping sighed and beckoned to him with her finger.

Seeing this, Xu Yichen approached with some skepticism.

Little did they know that Song Yifei, who happened to be working part-time, witnessed the two plotting together.

Seeing Xu Yichen, who had told her yesterday that they weren't a good match, now sitting in a private room chatting and laughing with Su Ping, Song Yifei's eyes immediately reddened.

Were all those things he said just excuses?

Song Yifei, who had just felt a bit better and was thinking of removing Xu Yichen from her blacklist, bit her lip and forced herself to look away from that scene.

But the images of the two people lingered in his mind.

Because she was so flustered, Song Yifei was stunned for a moment before she reacted when the manager called her.

Seeing this, the manager couldn't help but frown slightly and asked, "What's going on? I've been calling you for ages."

Song Yifei realized she was a little out of sorts, her face instantly turning red as she looked down at her shoes.

My nose tingled, and tears welled up uncontrollably.

Seeing this, the manager held back his temper and didn't continue to say anything to her. Instead, he came over and continued to talk to her about the work arrangements for later.

After she finished speaking, she looked at Song Yifei, who was clearly out of sorts, and felt a growing sense of dissatisfaction.

If it weren't for her previous good behavior, she would have already lost her temper.

Did you remember what I just said?

Hearing the manager's noticeably colder tone, Song Yifei paused, her nails digging into her palms to try and calm herself down.

After nodding, he said softly, "I've got it."

On the other side, Shen Jiayu, who had just returned home, was hugged by Shen Silan.

"What's wrong? Do you want me to buy you something again?"

Shen Jiayu reached out and pinched his cheek, then casually asked.

"Uncle, why is Lele not paying much attention to me today? I heard from Grandpa Wu that you took it out today. Did you do something to it?"

Upon hearing Shen Silan's words, Shen Jiayu's smile froze, and for some reason, the memory of Lele tackling someone in someone else's backyard that morning flashed into his mind.

Lele rarely takes the initiative to get close to a stranger like this. If he hadn't spoken up to stop her today, that little girl would probably have been pinned to the ground for a while longer.

Shen Silan looked up at Shen Jiayu, who seemed to be deep in thought, and knew that she must have guessed correctly. She immediately pressed on.

"Uncle, you've gone too far!"

"Lele is a bit difficult to raise. You really are the kind of person they say you are!"

Having been scolded for no reason, Shen Jiayu raised an eyebrow, chuckled, and squatted down in front of Shen Silan.

"Tell me, what kind of person is your uncle?"

Shen Silan was usually very afraid of Shen Jiayu, and those two sentences just now were blurted out in a moment of panic.

Faced with his scrutiny, the child, still just a kid, quickly gave in.

Her little mouth twitched, and her eyes were already brimming with tears.

"You're just like them, a cold-blooded and ruthless bad person. I hate you!"

Shen Jiayu was amused by him and couldn't help but reach out and ruffle his hair, saying...

"Alright, stop pretending. If you're not careful, I'll cut off your allowance, then you won't have money to take your female classmates out."

Shen Jiayu has always been one to remain silent until he makes a decisive move that directly targets someone's vital artery.

Upon hearing him mention his allowance, Shen Silan immediately became obedient. One second she was crying and complaining, and the next she showed a fawning smile.

"Uncle, you wouldn't do this to me. You're the best uncle in the world."

This kid changes his mind so quickly. Shen Jiayu, unusually, felt like teasing him and asked, "That's not what you just said."

Seeing that he was about to continue, Shen Silan got anxious and said in a hurry, "I was wrong, I will never say that to you again."

Shen Jiayu snorted and then gave up.

As I was getting ready to go upstairs, I found Lele lying listlessly at the top of the stairs. When she saw me, she just twitched her ears slightly and then continued to lie there.

Another heartless man. He's already infatuated with a young girl after just one meeting. Does he really like her that much?

Shen Jiayu sighed and looked away, the image of the little girl's panicked face resurfacing in his mind.

She's so young, she's probably still in school.

In the evening, Song Qi returned home after finishing his part-time job and found the house empty.

The observant man immediately sensed something was wrong; his sister didn't have a night shift today, so there was no way she hadn't come back yet.

After sending a message to Song Yifei, he waited in the living room for more than ten minutes, but his sister still hadn't replied.

He decided he couldn't wait any longer, grabbed his keys, and called Song Yifei as he left.

The phone rang several times before being answered. After a moment of silence, Song Yifei's voice came through.

"Xiao Qi, what's wrong?"

Song Qi noticed something was off about her voice, paused for a moment, and then asked in a deliberately casual tone, "Sister, I brought you your favorite cake. Where are you?"

Song Yifei wiped away her tears, calmed her breathing, and replied, "Xiao Qi, I ate quite a lot tonight. You can eat the cake yourself. I might have to work overtime, so you don't need to wait for me."

Hearing her increasingly nasal tone, Song Qi tightened his grip on the phone and uttered two words.

"lie."

These two words caused Song Yifei, who had finally managed to calm down, to lose control of her emotions and burst into tears.

Song Qi asked her for her location, and Song Yifei only told him where she was after he asked twice.

Looking at the location on his phone, Song Qi felt a surge of panic. He told her to stay put and then quickly rode his bicycle towards her.

He only has his older sister now, and he doesn't want anything to happen to her.

My sister's emotions have always been very stable; she has rarely lost her composure like this in front of me.

Thinking about what he had seen in the movie theater today, Song Qi felt a surge of irritation.

The only reason my sister has become like this is because of that man. Did that man say something to my sister again?

Once he reached the foot of the overpass, Song Qi threw the car on the ground and ran up the overpass in one bounding motion.

He was afraid that if he was even a little late, his sister would do something foolish.

The wind was strong on the overpass, and Yun Qi spotted Song Yifei standing there alone in the wind at a glance.

"elder sister."

Upon hearing his voice, Song Yifei stiffened and then turned to look at him.

Her hair was disheveled in the wind, and her face and eyes were incredibly red.

Song Yifei smiled at him as usual: "Xiao Qi, you're here?"

Song Qi didn't say anything, but simply took off his coat and walked towards her.

Song Yifei shook her head in refusal, her smile more painful than a grimace.

"Xiao Qi, it's too cold up here, let's go home."

Seeing her feigned strength, Song Qi felt even more distressed.
