Song Qi stopped and turned around.
This time he was prepared, and he grabbed Su Ping's arm a second before she could stop herself, preventing her from crashing into his arms again.
"I've arrived. Thank you for seeing me off, senior. It's getting late, you can go back now."
Hearing his nonchalant tone, Su Ping smiled and pretended to be very thirsty.
"Little Song, I'm a bit thirsty. Can I come to your house for some water? It's all Aunt Mei's fault; she put too much salt in the dishes..."
If Song Qi hadn't tasted Aunt Mei's cooking before, he really would have been fooled by her.
Aunt Mei's cooking skills are undeniable, but when she talks about it, it sounds like she doesn't know how much salt to add.
Seeing that he was just staring at her without saying a word, Su Ping subconsciously swallowed.
Just when she thought Song Qi would refuse, she heard him say, "Okay, as long as you don't mind, senior."
They actually agreed?
Su Ping was somewhat surprised and flattered, following him through the iron gate.
The residential buildings in front of her looked rather old, and Su Ping was certain she would never have come to a place like this before.
But for some reason, she had a strange feeling when she followed Song Qi upstairs.
It seemed as if this wasn't my first time here.
Su Ping shook her head, trying to clear the strange thoughts from her mind.
On the second floor, Song Qi took out his key, opened the door, and then turned to look at Su Ping.
Su Ping looked at him with some confusion when she saw him open the door but not go inside.
What does he mean by this? Is he not going to wait for me to go in first?
Su Ping steeled herself and walked inside, praying that no big dog would pounce on her again.
Thinking of the big dog that had pounced on her in the back garden last time, Su Ping hesitated a bit as she walked in.
Just then, she heard a "click" behind her; Song Qi had turned on the wall light switch.
Su Ping was immediately struck by the layout of the room. Unlike the dirty and messy hallway she had just left, the living room was clean and cozy, giving it a homey feel.
Unexpectedly, Song Yifei, who seemed so well-behaved, had this side to her, and Su Ping's impression of her was once again refreshed.
Seeing that she entered the house without saying a word, only glancing around erratically, Song Qi frowned and asked, "What are you looking for?"
Su Ping realized that her actions were a bit too blatant, so she quickly looked away and went over to sit down on the sofa.
"No, I just envy you for being able to live in a house like this."
After she finished speaking, she wanted to slap herself twice. How could she speak so recklessly without thinking? What did she say?!
Song Qi snorted and said coolly, "Really? Even someone as rich as you, senior, would yearn for this kind of life?"
Su Ping opened her mouth, about to explain that she didn't mean it that way, when she saw Song Qi put his bag on the table and turn to go to the kitchen.
A little while later he poured a glass of water over.
"I don't know if you can handle this water, so I added some tea leaves. It's a bit hot, so let it cool down a bit before you drink it."
After Song Qi finished speaking, he placed the cup on the coffee table in front of Su Ping.
After thanking her, Su Ping glanced around and wondered why Song Yifei hadn't made a sound even after she'd been inside for a while.
Did they go to bed so early?
Song Qi sat down opposite her, squinting as he sized her up.
"Where's your sister? Is it inappropriate for me to come to your house so suddenly? Should you tell her?"
Song Qi curled his lips and sneered inwardly. He was still thinking that when Miss Song was thirsty, she could have just found any shopping mall or supermarket on the street and had any kind of water she wanted, but she made up an excuse to come to his house for water.
It turned out that drinking water was just her excuse; she had come to the house to see her sister.
What does she want to do by contacting her sister at this time? Is she trying to brag to her sister about the progress she's made with Xu Yichen these past few days?
Thinking of his sister's downcast mood on the phone, Song Qi felt a nameless anger rising within him.
No matter what, the way my sister turned out is inextricably linked to both of them.
Su Ping didn't know why Song Qi's gaze was slowly turning cold, so she quickly picked up the water glass on the table to warm her hands.
"It's okay, my sister isn't home these past few days."
What?
When Su Ping heard Song Qi say that Song Yifei wasn't home, she was a little confused.
Does that mean there are only the two of them in this house now?
It doesn't seem appropriate for a man and a woman to be alone together late at night...
Thinking about how hard she had tried to get here, Su Ping wished she could bite her own tongue.
Seeing that Su Ping's expression suddenly became blank, Song Qi asked, "Senior, what's wrong?"
For some reason, Su Ping always felt that when he said that, the last syllable of his voice seemed to rise slightly.
She immediately felt even more awkward, realizing she couldn't stay there any longer.
"It's nothing, it's nothing. I just suddenly remembered that I have some things to take care of at home. Since you're home, I'll head back now."
After she finished speaking, she prepared to put the water glass on the table and get up.
However, Song Qi had clearly guessed her intentions and sat down beside her before she could get up.
"Senior..."
As Song Qi approached, Su Ping tensed up instantly and stammered, "W-what are you doing?"
As Song Qi watched Su Ping slowly lean back on the sofa as he approached, the smile on his lips deepened.
Finally, with nowhere left to retreat, Su Ping collapsed onto the sofa.
Even the usually aggressive Song Qi sat up straight and pointed innocently at the tea on the table.
"Didn't you say you were thirsty, senior? You haven't drunk any of this water."
Is it just because she didn't drink water?
Su Ping blinked, and immediately felt that he had been tricked.
Why is he standing so close to her when he's supposed to be talking?
Watching her frantically get up from the sofa to grab the water glass from the table, Song Qi's smile grew wider and wider.
For some reason, he suddenly felt like teasing her, which he found strange, as this was the first time he had ever had this thought.
Su Ping originally only intended to take a small sip as a symbolic gesture, but she forgot that the water was still a bit hot, and she immediately stuck out her tongue from the heat after taking a sip.
"It's so hot, so hot..."
Su Ping quickly put the cup on the table, her tongue sticking out as she breathed on it, but she noticed that Song Qi's gaze was fixed on her.
Su Ping thought for a moment and then withdrew her tongue, but kept her mouth slightly open, as if letting more air in would make her tongue feel less painful.
Suddenly, Song Qi leaned closer and cupped Su Ping's face in his hands.
"Senior..."
Su Ping was stunned, her mouth slightly agape as she watched Song Qi's face get closer and closer.
What does he want to do?
Song Qi stopped just centimeters from Su Ping's face.
