The action caught Song Qi's attention. He looked at Su Ping, who had been acting strangely from the beginning, and quickly reached out to hold her hand tightly as she gripped the edge of the table.
The pain on her face didn't seem faked; was she really that uncomfortable with the environment here?
"you……"
Su Ping looked at Song Qi's face in front of her, and suddenly seemed to remember something. She flung his hand away, covered her head, and looked even more pained.
Her actions caused a hurt look to flash across Song Qi's face, but he quickly concealed his emotions and went over to hold her shoulders.
He suddenly had a strange feeling, and was also a little scared.
The way my senior looked at me just now was clearly out of physical fear. Did she, like me, recall some unpleasant memories?
"Senior, did something come to mind?"
Song Qi's words instantly relieved the pain in Su Ping's head. She opened her eyes and asked.
"Am I supposed to remember something?"
The two looked into each other's eyes, and Song Qi visibly breathed a sigh of relief, revealing a smile as he said in a seemingly relaxed manner, "It's nothing, senior, you just scared me."
A strange feeling flashed through Su Ping's mind; she had a feeling that he was hiding something from her.
Uncle Zhang had already wiped the table and beckoned the two people over.
"Don't just stand there, I'll make you some handmade noodles in a bit, they'll be chewy and delicious."
Seeing the smile on Uncle Zhang's face, Su Ping recalled the scene just now, suppressed her thoughts, nodded, and walked over to sit down with Song Qi.
She hadn't thought much of it at first, but Song Qi's question just now made her take notice.
Why did he ask himself if he remembered something? Was he afraid of remembering something?
Seeing Song Qi wiping the table in front of her with a tissue, Su Ping tentatively asked, "Song Qi, do we know each other before?"
Without the joking tone of "Little Song," Song Qi paused in his movements.
After a while, she looked up and said with a smile, "Don't you recognize me? Or did you just remember something, senior?"
He subtly shifted the topic back, while observing the subtle expressions on Su Ping's face.
Surprisingly, Su Ping only paused for a moment before saying nothing more, nodding and agreeing.
It was July, yet she suddenly felt a chill, a chill that began to spread from her limbs and bones, gradually engulfing her.
Song Qi's answer was too calm, but it was precisely this flawless tone that made it seem a bit fake.
She became even more certain that he knew something, and perhaps it really was related to the part of her memory that she had lost.
She thought she needed to hurry up and find a way to help herself remember the missing parts of her memory as soon as possible.
Thinking of two other people who gave her the same feeling, Su Ping pursed her lips and decided to try to interact with them more to see if she could remember something.
For a moment, both of them were preoccupied with their own thoughts, and neither of them said anything more.
The eerie atmosphere was broken when Uncle Zhang came over carrying two steaming bowls of beef noodles.
"Here, have some Zhang's beef noodles."
Uncle Zhang smiled and placed the beef noodles in front of Su Ping, and also gave her a pair of chopsticks.
It was just a routine action, but Song Qi felt a little nervous.
Looking at Su Ping, who remained motionless, he couldn't help but start to overthink.
A pampered young lady like my senior would probably find these reusable chopsticks from a street stall disgusting.
Just as he was thinking about whether to find an excuse to help Su Ping rinse the chopsticks in boiling water, he saw Su Ping nod with a smile, casually pick up the chopsticks, and put a piece of beef into her mouth.
Then a satisfied smile appeared on his face as he looked at Uncle Zhang and gave him an affirmative review: "Wow, it really is delicious!"
Just then, another guest came in. Uncle Zhang responded and said apologetically to the two of them, "You two eat first, I'll go back to work."
Su Ping took a bite of noodles and noticed that Song Qi next to her hadn't moved at all.
She was surprised and asked, "What's wrong? Aren't you going to eat?"
Her tone was normal, as if what had just happened had never occurred.
Song Qi shook his head, suddenly feeling a little wistful.
He looked down and stirred the noodles in the bowl with his chopsticks, saying, "It's nothing, I just suddenly thought of some things from the past."
Watching the steam slowly rise from the bowl, Song Qi began to speak.
“When I was little, because my mother was in poor health, the neighbors all disliked my sister and me and wouldn’t let the other children in the neighborhood play with us.”
"After my mother passed away, when my sister and I were starving, Uncle Zhang would bring us beef soup and noodles every time he came back from his stall, saying that they were leftovers from the unsold food."
"Without his bowls of noodle soup, my sister and I wouldn't have made it through that winter."
Upon hearing this, Su Ping realized that the bowl of noodles in front of him held such significance for him.
Hearing the slight sob in his voice, she put her chopsticks down on the bowl, patted his shoulder, and comforted him, "It's okay, all of that is in the past. You're all grown up now. Just forget those unpleasant memories from your childhood."
She had considered that Song Qi and his sister had a hard childhood, but she hadn't imagined it would be this bad.
Song Qi nodded, but his other hand, which was hanging by his side, gradually clenched into a fist.
There are some things he thinks he will never forget in his entire life.
Some people are even worse than animals.
When Su Ping felt the table start to shake, she thought it was an earthquake.
He put down his chopsticks and quickly looked around. Finding that everything was normal except for the table in front of him shaking, he then looked at Song Qi beside him.
