Chapter 88 Mo Ruinan's Purpose

After thanking her, Su Ping saw her assistant take out her phone and make a call to tell Mo Ruinan that she had arrived.

"Miss Su, the young master is waiting for you upstairs. Please come with me."

Su Ping nodded, watching as her assistant used a key to unlock the outermost lock, revealing another facial recognition keypad lock inside.

Seeing her staring, the assistant turned around and smiled: "The young master's paintings are all at home. We specially put an extra lock in case thieves come to steal them."

For some reason, Su Ping always felt that this person's smile was fake, and his eyes were also very empty. Even when she looked into his eyes, she couldn't see any focus in his gaze.

At the end of the stairs on the second floor, there was also an iron door with a combination lock containing more than ten digits.

Just how valuable is Mo Ruinan's painting that it's locked up so tightly?

The assistant led Su Ping upstairs to the second floor, and they walked inside, eventually stopping at the open door of the study.

Hearing the noise, Mo Ruinan, who was reading at her desk, looked up.

"Pingping, you're here?"

Su Ping laughed heartily: "If Brother Nan asks me to come, I always have to come."

Mo Ruinan clearly found these words pleasing to the ear, and the corners of her mouth curved into a wider smile.

He pushed the wheelchair toward the bookshelf, reached out and pulled out several books, and finally stopped the wheelchair in front of Su Ping.

Su Ping took them; they were all professional books, many of which were out of print.

"have a look."

Mo Ruinan gestured for her to sit at the table over there.

Offering unsolicited favors is either a sign of malice or theft.

Su Ping pretended to be very interested and sat down, opening the book.

The first thing that catches the eye is a photograph.

It's a group photo of several people, with Mo Ruinan in the center, Chen Qi and Lu Huai standing on either side, and Shen Jiayu, who is wearing glasses, standing in the middle. Next to him is a short-haired girl who is smiling and making a peace sign at the camera.

Judging from their still youthful faces, they must have been quite old.

Mo Ruinan seemed to have just seen the photo and came over in her wheelchair with a hint of apology.

"I'm sorry, I took this photo before I went abroad. I didn't expect it to be here."

Su Ping sneered inwardly, "So this is what you really wanted."

Then she looked up, a blank expression on her face, and asked, "The girl standing next to A-Yu, are they close?"

Mo Ruinan was surprised that she had actually noticed Gu Lan, and a glint of light flashed in her eyes.

Sometimes a woman's jealousy can be so terrifying; it was all worth the effort he put into this whole thing.

"Didn't A-Yu tell you about her?"

After saying that, Mo Ruinan looked at Su Ping with some annoyance: "Was it inappropriate for me to tell you this? Maybe A Yu isn't ready to introduce her to you yet."

Su Ping took in the expression on his face and watched him perform quietly.

Seeing that Su Ping remained silent, Mo Ruinan continued, "Her name is Gu Lan. She is the daughter of A Yu's father's deceased friend. She was raised by the Shen family since she was a child. A Yu and she grew up together as childhood sweethearts."

"And then?" Su Ping's eyes were filled with tears, and her voice trembled.

Mo Ruinan sighed, seemingly organizing her thoughts, and leaned back in her chair, lost in memories.

"Then the Shen family fell into an economic crisis. After A Yu was in a car accident, he was in a coma for a year. When he woke up, Gu Lan married my brother and became my sister-in-law."

At this point, Mo Ruinan paused for a moment: "Of course, by then I had already gone abroad for further studies, and I heard about it from our mutual friends. The truth of the matter is probably only known to the few people involved."

Leaving something in suspense can actually spark endless imagination.

"She's so beautiful, your brother is so lucky."

Su Ping looked up with a smile, showering him with praise.

This was the first time she had seen Gu Lan's photo. At first glance, she did look quite like Sister Yifei, but if you looked closely, you would find that apart from their faces being somewhat similar, their eyes and temperament were completely different.

Gu Lan is like the sun; her eyes always shine, drawing people's attention to her unconsciously.

Mo Ruinan hadn't expected her to act completely unpredictably, and the emotions she had painstakingly built up were starting to get out of control.

"You don't mind the relationship between Ah Yu and her..."

Su Ping interrupted him: "I believe in A Yu, and besides, she's your sister-in-law now, isn't she?"

Upon hearing this, Mo Ruinan pursed her lips, her eyes turning somewhat cold.

Su Ping continued, "And your older brother must really like her, right..."

As Su Ping spoke, she kept her eyes fixed on the changes in Mo Ruinan's expression.

Before the words were even finished, a ripping sound was heard.

She looked down at the photo that Mo Ruinan had crumpled up, a smile appearing on her lips.

Realizing she had lost her composure, Mo Ruinan quickly stuffed the photo into her pocket.

That's interesting.

Su Ping looked away, pretending not to have seen what happened.

Mo Ruinan looked at her tense profile and understood.

Do you really think that if you pretend not to care, you can stop caring?

Su Ping was just complaining to the Calabash Brothers, but she didn't expect Mo Ruinan to be a brother-obsessed person, which made her very happy, hahaha.

Just then, a commotion seemed to come from downstairs.

It sounded like something being thrown to the ground.

Mo Ruinan's expression changed, and then she saw her assistant push open the door and walk in.

"Young Master, should I go take a look?"

Mo Ruinan waved to him, and then saw the assistant turn and leave with a respectful expression.

They moved quickly, disappearing behind the door in just a few steps.

"I just got back to China. No one has lived in my house for a long time. There are some nasty rats. Did they scare you?"

Mo Ruinan smiled again and explained to Su Ping.

Hearing that there was indeed no more movement, Su Ping nodded knowingly, picked up her things, and got up to leave.

Mo Ruinan saw her to the door, watched her go downstairs, and then looked away.

Inside the study, more than a dozen cameras can see every corner of the Mo family compound.

He only felt relieved after seeing Su Ping leave the main gate without any hindrance, and then pushed his wheelchair down the stairs via the other passageway in the elevator.

"Young Master".

The assistant just came out from the end of the corridor after locking the door, and stood there waiting for Mo Ruinan's instructions.

"Open the door."

Mo Ruinan maneuvered her wheelchair over and looked at the locked door in front of her.

The assistant hesitated, "But he's not completely unconscious yet, I'm worried..."

"I know, open it."

The assistant nodded, took out his key, and opened the door.

The door was reinforced and thickened; you needed a key to get in from the outside, but there was no way you could get out from the inside, not even a fly.

After the door was pushed open, the simple furnishings of the room came into view: an unused bed, and a photo of Mo Ruinan and a man on the table. The glass mirror reflected the light, making it impossible to see the man's face.

The assistant pushed Mo Ruinan inside and stopped in front of a row of bookshelves.

After moving one of the switches, the bookshelf automatically slid to both sides, revealing the door that was locked with four or five locks.
