Chapter 33 Who wouldn't want to go to a state-run restaurant?

Lin Chuan warmed himself up, ate his meal, and then started cleaning up the lunch, putting all the uncooked meat into the pot.

When the fire was almost cooked, Lin Chuan went to bed.

Seeing that Lin Chuan was working hard, Qian Jinhua and Xu Chunmai let him sleep in the same room as Xu Shengli. Otherwise, he wouldn't be able to sleep well at night if the child cried.

Lin Chuan couldn't sleep for very long to begin with.

Having learned from the previous day's experience, and with the donkey at home, Lin Chuan got up on time and started packing.

Dress yourself warmly, and then set off with the donkey pulling the cart.

The sun hasn't come out yet, and it feels really cold right now.

When Lin Chuan arrived at the county park, it was not yet six o'clock in the morning.

The steamed buns next to me are already cooked and piping hot.

Lin Chuan parked the donkey cart and unloaded the table and other items. Yu Fei, who sold steamed buns, saw Lin Chuan and greeted him cheerfully, "Brother, you're here."

"How did you make that braised pork? Oh my, it's so delicious! My son couldn't get enough and asked me to buy some more today. He really only knows how to eat."

Lin Chuan smiled and said, "Okay, I'll set some aside for you later."

After selling things all day, I got to know the people around me. While selling, I would sometimes chat with them.

"Boss, how much is your braised pork knuckle?"

Many people had been asking all morning, but Lin Chuan didn't pay any attention and simply replied, "Two yuan a pound, how much do you want?"

"Lin Chuan?"

Upon hearing this voice, Lin Chuan looked over and saw Jiang Mingzhong.

Song Guoxing looked at Jiang Mingzhong, then at Lin Chuan, and asked, "You two know each other?"

Jiang Mingzhong smiled and said, "We know each other. He and my Xueying were high school classmates and are acquaintances."

Lin Chuan thought for a moment. Jiang Mingzhong couldn't have come so early in the morning just to buy braised meat.

It's highly likely that their business was affected by the braised meat they sold yesterday, which impacted the business of their state-run restaurant.

“Secretary Song, if it were Lin Chuan, I would understand. His cooking is indeed delicious.” As he spoke, Jiang Mingzhong said, “Lin Chuan, give us two bowls of big meat noodles.”

"Okay."

After Lin Chuan agreed, he started making noodles.

It was indeed cold in the morning, but a steaming bowl of noodles would definitely warm you up.

Jiang Mingzhong handed Song Guoxing one pair of chopsticks, and then the two of them found a place to sit down.

"Secretary Song, try this. It tastes quite authentic."

Song Guoxing was genuinely intrigued that Jiang Mingzhong had praised it.

Two large bowls of meat noodles were served, their aroma filling the air.

Song Guoxing picked up a piece of meat, took a bite, and his eyes widened immediately.

But he didn't say anything, he just silently finished the whole bowl of noodles, even drinking all the soup.

After paying, the two left the noodle stall.

On the way back, Song Guoxing exclaimed, "This Lin Chuan is really skilled. No wonder his braised meat sold so well yesterday."

Jiang Mingzhong was preoccupied. "Secretary Song, Lin Chuan's stall in Wangshan County is having a significant impact on the braised meat business of our state-run restaurants. Braised meat is already more expensive than regular meat, so not many people can afford it. If all our customers start buying from him, what are we going to do?"

Song Guoxing didn't take it seriously. "What's the big deal? I'll report it to the higher-ups and get Lin Chuan to work at our state-run restaurant. We're a government company. If we can get him here, he'll have a government job. Many people would love to do that."

In their minds, being able to get into a government-affiliated unit was a remarkable achievement, especially for a poor boy from the countryside.

Jiang Mingzhong shook his head. "Secretary Song, to be honest, when Lin Chuan was helping out at someone else's noodle shop last time, I mentioned that they looked down on our state-run restaurant and wouldn't come."

Song Guoxing was taken aback. "We're a government-owned company."

“They look down on our government-affiliated unit. This young man seems mild-mannered, but he doesn’t respect us at all,” Jiang Mingzhong said.

After thinking for a while, Song Guoxing said, "Then go buy some of his meat later, and when you get back, you can study how he prepared the seasoning."

He wasn't stupid; he knew they wouldn't hand over the recipe.

Jiang Mingzhong didn't say anything; how could that formula be easily researched?

He could act like a tyrant in a state-run restaurant, get dividends, and even splurge on meat on a regular basis, all because he had his own recipe.

However, he couldn't say that to Song Guoxing, since Song was the leader.

"Okay, I'll try it later, but it might not work."

Now it seems that Lin Chuan is a very big threat to him.

If Lin Chuan is allowed to continue developing his business, he will sell more and more braised meat.

In the entire county, including the surrounding townships and villages, there are only so many people willing to buy braised meat. If Lin Chuan's food tastes good, he will attract all the customers.

Although the state-run restaurant is government-owned, it doesn't affect his salary payment.

However, he buys less meat, so he can skimp on his share. He sells less braised meat, so he gets less in profit sharing.

He took far less money than he should have.

If he is replaced, he will receive less money and his status will decline in the state-run restaurant.

Lin Youfu's house in Yuquan Village.

Breakfast this morning was sweet potato porridge with some pickled radish.

Everyone in the family stared at the breakfast, but none of them had any desire to eat it.

I was hungry and my stomach felt acidic.

Lin Xinglong pushed the bowl aside. "Mom, can't you make something else to eat? Who can eat this?"

Wu Chunhua couldn't swallow it either, but to save money, she sat down, picked up the porridge, and started eating. "Eat it or not, that's all we have at home."

Lin Caifeng said unhappily, "We ate this yesterday for the festival, and we're eating this again today. My uncle's family had mooncakes and lots of meat yesterday, so why don't we have anything?"
