Chapter 17 was complained about.

Upon seeing the note, Lin Miaomiao smiled faintly: "Don't worry, we're classmates after all, how could I hold a grudge over such a small matter?"

Xiang Jin breathed a sigh of relief and continued writing: "Thank you."

Lin Miaomiao realized something, and the doubt in her pupils turned into shock: "You can't speak anymore? I heard you went to jail, could it be—"

Xiang Jin remained silent.

Lin Miaomiao, standing two steps away, was dressed in designer clothes, looking exquisite and fashionable, while she herself, having worked a long day, had shoes and trousers covered in dust, looking as dirty as if she had just come from a garbage dump.

This stark contrast sent a chill through Xiang Jin's heart.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to rub salt in your wounds. I just didn't expect you to have changed so much," Lin Miaomiao said apologetically. "I have to go to a meeting soon, so I won't keep you any longer. Let's keep in touch!"

Xiang Jin nodded, and after exchanging phone numbers, she walked towards the elevator.

"What are you looking at? Go inside for the meeting." Ke Yuyan walked to Lin Miaomiao's side, staring at the figure entering the elevator, and paused for a moment, "Is that Xiang Jin?"

"Yes, it's her." Lin Miaomiao's smile faded.

"Is she delivering a package?" Ke Yuyan was shocked.

Back in school, Xiang Jin was a renowned and popular figure.

"Yeah, our department's most beautiful girl is actually delivering packages." Lin Miaomiao scoffed. She wondered what Wen Yibai's reaction would be if he saw his former goddess like this.

He rejected her back then, loving Xiang Jin wholeheartedly.

………………

On the way back, Xiang Jin was somewhat lost in thought.

Although I only studied at university for a year, seeing Lin Miaomiao tonight brought back many long-forgotten memories; those bright years felt like they were from a past life.

The longer and deeper she thought about it, the more resentful she became. Xiang Jin patted her face to stop herself from thinking about it any further.

After the meal, Xiang Jin boiled water as usual to warm Feng Jianian's feet.

She has been sticking to this habit for half a month. No matter how late or tired she is that day, she will always finish this before going to sleep, which is so stubborn that it is hard to understand.

"Jianian, why are your feet always so cold?" Even after scalding them for a long time, his feet still weren't warm enough; a normal person would have been red and burning by now.

Feng Jianian's eyes were deep black: "I broke it when I was a child, got injured, and it took a long time to heal. It left me with a chronic condition."

Later, no matter how nice the weather was, he would always have trouble falling asleep because his legs were too cold, to the point that he hadn't had a good night's sleep for many years.

Until I met her.

She started warming his feet every night; if hot water wasn't warm enough, she would rub them with her hands; if rubbing them with her hands wasn't warm enough, she would hold them in her arms.

Thanks to her efforts, his sleep quality gradually improved; he fell asleep faster and his deep sleep time became longer.

Sometimes, even when his feet weren't warm, the faint fragrance emanating from her would inexplicably bring him peace of mind.

He felt that the game was becoming more and more interesting.

“I know some traditional Chinese medicine practitioners who have prescriptions for treating cold feet. If they can cure it completely, I won’t have to warm my feet every day anymore.” She wrote as she handed the prescription to him.

"Ah Qi doesn't want to warm my feet anymore?" He frowned.

"I can't stay with you forever," she said, revealing what was on her mind.

"Why not?" he questioned, his tone somewhat cold.

Now it was Xiang Jin's turn to ponder.

Although they are doing well now, and she is prepared to spend her life with him, they are ultimately bound together without love. If one day he meets someone he likes and wants to pursue true love, she probably won't stop him.

After all, he deserves better.

"Aqi, why not?" He lifted her chin, forcing her to look directly at him.

She smiled faintly, her fox-like eyes gleaming, and gestured casually, "I was just saying it offhand. If you care, I won't say it."

She gently brushed his hand away and took the basin to pour out the water for washing her feet.

As he watched her retreating figure, his eyes were as deep and wolfish as ever, and an inexplicable melancholy settled over his chest, causing the surrounding temperature to drop several degrees.

That night, he became somewhat deranged.

He kept demanding and plundering, as if venting something. He didn't know why, but he just wanted to conquer her, to possess her; he had never felt this way before.

Xiang Jin couldn't make a sound, she could only try her best to comply, until she collapsed from exhaustion.

In her hazy state, a deep voice whispered in her ear, "Ah Qi, what if I take it seriously..."

If something is destined to be lost, he would rather have never had it; if this warmth is destined not to belong to him alone, he would rather destroy it now.

………………

When Xiang Jin woke up in the morning, she remembered what had been said the night before and vaguely thought it was a dream.

Seeing that she was about to be late, she hurriedly got ready and left, arriving at the warehouse at exactly nine o'clock.

Before she could catch her breath, she and Sister Ding buried themselves in moving goods until a commotion broke out at the door.

"Xiang Jin, what exactly happened yesterday? Didn't you deliver the package on time? Why did the customer still complain about me?" Liu Peng, feeling wronged and angry, came to question Xiang Jin.

His commotion was quite loud, and everyone stopped what they were doing and looked over.

Xiang Jin was stunned for a moment, then quickly wrote: "Impossible."

Lin Miaomiao said she wouldn't hold it against her.

She delivered it on time and explained the situation. Besides, she was her classmate, and although they weren't the closest, they were roommates. She believed the girl wouldn't hold it against her, and the girl had indeed said she wouldn't.

"Then what's with this complaint? I clearly agreed with her that it only needed to be delivered before eight o'clock. Did you anger the customer or do something excessive that caused me to be complained about!" Liu Peng was furious and took his anger out on Xiang Jin.

"I didn't!" Xiang Jin explained in a panic.

“I delivered it on time; I was neither late nor did I anger her.”

"She's my classmate, she won't complain about me!" She was a little flustered, writing the note in a hurry, and she had lost her usual carefree attitude.

Upon seeing the above, Liu Peng paused for a moment, then said even more righteously, "That's you! You're the one who offended her before, and that's why she took her anger out on me, causing me to have my wages docked! Xiang Jin, it's all your fault!"

"I knew I shouldn't have let you deliver it, I'm so unlucky!"

After Liu Peng finished yelling angrily, he left, leaving Xiang Jin standing there helplessly. The others watched coldly, muttered a few words to each other, and then left.

At lunchtime, Xiang Jin was still moving goods.

She worked even harder than usual, sweating profusely but refusing to stop. Sister Ding couldn't bear to watch any longer, so she pulled her aside and wiped the dust off her face: "I know you're working so hard because you're afraid that President Yu will be angry and fire you, right?"

Xiang Jin nodded.

Although she was helping out, she was the one who drove illegally. If Mr. Yu really wants to hold her accountable, she will definitely lose her job.
