Li Aili asked, "What is Arthur doing?"
Conrad managed to maintain a professional smile. "The master is receiving guests in his study on the third floor of the North Wing."
Li Aili breathed a sigh of relief. She decided to settle the Sphinx first before going to see Arthur.
So she carried the Sphinx toward the West Forest, saying, "I'll be there in a bit."
On the way, Li Aili recited 'Pet Rules' to Sphinx.
"Don't bully the natives of the West Forest, don't make them guess riddles, don't... In short, I don't want the West Forest to become a stone statue museum."
When they reached the entrance to the West Forest, Pepe and her friends rode on 'snakes' and blocked Li Aili's way.
“Ah~~ it’s Ellie~” Pepe said, pulling out a laurel wreath woven from golden leaves and red maple leaves.
Li Aili: "..."
Before Pepe could even hand her the incriminating evidence, she turned around and shoved a Sphinx into the little tree spirit's hands.
So much so that the little tree spirit had to sling the 'gift of gratitude' across his shoulder and then lift the Sphinx that had been handed to him like a weightlifter.
Li Aili: "This is a new friend in the West Forest. Please take good care of him!"
After saying that, she took off running, afraid that Peipei would catch her.
Pepe's spirited voice came from behind: "Don't worry, Ellie! I'll take good care of it!"
...
Li Aili went straight to the study on the third floor.
Just as I was about to push open the door, I heard an unfamiliar female voice coming from inside.
It was a sweet, clipped sound.
"Oh dear~ I hope your wife doesn't mind us chatting here alone~~"
Li Aili: "..."
She pushed the door open and entered.
I didn't see the Duke, but I did see a guest sitting on the sofa, a... bride in a white wedding dress?
The bride's striking long, wavy, fiery red hair and gorgeous white wedding dress were quite eye-catching. However, the object lying across her lap didn't quite match the outfit: a crimson longsword inlaid with gemstones.
The 'bride' had a pair of deep gray eyes.
She smiled at Li Aili, her gaze gentle, and raised her hand in a very familiar manner to greet her, "Hi~~ We're here again..."
"Ahem." The Duke coughed lightly as he came out of the inner room of the study, interrupting the 'bride'.
The Duke looked at Li Aili sternly, "The 'thing' you just secretly put in the West Forest..."
Duke: "Could we send them away?"
"Pfft~~ Hahahaha~~~"
Before Li Aili could speak, the beautiful woman in the wedding dress was already laughing and lying on the sofa.
"As expected of your wife~ Only you can make our little prince say the most cowardly words in the sternest tone~"
Based on the title "Your Highness," Li Aili deduced that the flamboyant beauty before her was likely a subordinate loyal to Arthur.
Arthur glanced coldly at the person lounging on the sofa, "Her name is..."
Arthur looked at one of the brides with a blank expression.
The bride sat up, raised her hand to wipe away the tears of laughter from the corners of her eyes, and said, "Just call me Victoria~ Victoria Crimson Sword."
Li Aili walked over and sat down opposite the guest. "Hello, Victoria, my name is..."
Victoria: "Can I call you Ellie?"
"Ellie~ You can just call me Victoria."
Li Aili: "..."
Victoria winked playfully at Li Aili, "Ah~ darling~ how about we sleep together tonight and have a girls' night out?"
Before Li Aili could speak, the Duke sternly refused, "No!"
Victoria shrugged. "You're so stingy~ I just wanted to ask Ellie for some advice—"
Conrad opened the door at the opportune moment, and behind him, his valet carried a pot of hot black tea and delicious desserts on a three-tiered silver tray.
The servant quietly and quickly replaced the cooled black tea, then placed a three-tiered silver tray on the coffee table.
Victoria said loudly with a mischievous grin, "I just want to learn some 'husband-taming techniques' from Ellie."
Conrad's hand trembled, and he almost spilled the black tea on the table.
Victoria ignored the death stare someone was giving her and said to Li Aili with a grin, "You don't know, before you came in, someone was standing at the window looking out."
No matter what I say, he either remains silent or makes a sound.
The last time I saw a creature so devoted was my large dog waiting for my husband to come home.
Duke: "..."
Li Aili: "..."
Conrad and his male servant quickly evacuated the 'scene'.
Li Aili decided to try to change the subject to make her boyfriend less embarrassed.
She picked up her teacup. "Didn't your husband come with you?"
Victoria spread her hands and confessed, "He's been dead for a long time, I'd like to have him sitting here."
Li Aili: "..." Fortunately, she hadn't drunk any tea.
Victoria twirled a strand of red hair between her fingers and said with a smile, "However, I'm going to turn him into a lich~"
"You'll be able to see him then!"
Li Aili: "..." No need for that!
The Duke said, "Ellie, Victoria will go with you to the Giant Spirit Plains."
Victoria smiled and winked at Li Aili, "Don't worry~"
She pointed to the handsome duke sitting on the armchair, "I'm only slightly weaker than your husband."
Speaking of the Giant Spirit Plains, Li Aili stood up and said, "I learned some information from the Sphinx and I need to discuss it with Leslie and the others."
After saying that, Li Aili got up and left the study.
