The success of the food and shopping festivals led to a surge in the population of Emerald City.
Within just one month, all the residential units built in phases 2-4 of the project were sold out.
Shops on the city's main commercial street are in high demand, and there has been a phenomenon of buying and selling on the side.
The Gray family just moved to Emerald City this month.
Hall Gray bought a shop in the Emerald City, intending to start a flour business.
He had to use a lot of persuasion to convince his wife, who lived in a major city in another country, to move to Emerald City.
His wife was initially very reluctant, but her attitude changed considerably after seeing the magnificent walls of Emerald City.
These past few days, Hall Gray has been busy preparing for the store's reopening, leaving early and returning late every day.
After the initial novelty wore off, Mrs. Grey began to complain at the dinner table.
'This place is less developed than Denton.'
There are no adventurers' guilds here.
There's no mage's guild here either.
'There isn't even a merchants' guild here.'
She thought her husband's decision to move the business to such a poor, remote place was a very foolish mistake.
At yesterday's dinner table, Mrs. Hall Gray threw another tantrum because Emerald City didn't have its own city newspaper.
'Oh! Light above! How backward must this rural place be to not have its own town newspaper?'
'How am I supposed to tell the ladies in my social circle that my husband moved me to a place where he doesn't even have his own independent newspaper?'
Hall Gray had been holding back for several days, but finally had a huge fight with his wife last night.
That night, he was moved to a guest room.
The next morning, Hall Gray, in a fit of pique, refused to eat the breakfast prepared by the servants.
Instead, I went to the food street and enjoyed a dish called 'xiaolongbao'.
Those egg-sized steamed buns were white and piping hot, and when you took a bite, you found they were filled with plenty of filling.
The delicious broth flowed onto the tip of the tongue, instantly whetting the appetite.
tasty!
It's so delicious!
Hall Gray devoured one xiaolongbao after another. "Boss! Add another dozen xiaolongbao!"
There were still 5 or 6 left in the steamer, but Hall Gray felt it wasn't enough, so he asked the owner to add another portion.
"Okay!"
The owner here is a bald, muscular middle-aged man.
At first, Hall Gray was afraid of the shop owner.
But one night, the flour that was supposed to arrive the next day was delivered ahead of schedule.
All the staff in his shop had gone home after get off work.
The deliveryman indifferently dumped over a thousand bags of flour at the entrance of his shop and drove away in his carriage.
Just then, the owner of the shop happened to pass by.
Without saying a word, he helped Hall Gray carry all the sacks into the store.
Mr. Gray was very grateful and invited the man named Scar to a tavern for a drink.
After two pitchers of beer, they became like brothers, despite not being from the same father or mother.
So delicious!
Gray hissed as he swallowed the bun in his mouth, the bun burning his mouth.
Hall Gray was a well-traveled businessman, but he had never tasted such delicious food.
The owner, 'Scarface,' brought over a basket of new xiaolongbao (soup dumplings).
"Hey, I'm getting some new stuff in my shop in a couple of days. If you come and support me, I'll give you your order for free," Scarface said loudly, hands on his hips.
Gray agreed, "Sure, I'll bring my wife with me then."
As they were talking, a teenager stood at the shop entrance and exclaimed, "Uncle Scarface!"
"Oh! Here it comes!"
“I’ll go see what’s going on,” Scarface said to his new friend.
Gray had finished the first basket of buns. He took a sip of pumpkin porridge and prepared to start eating the second basket.
These xiaolongbao are so delicious, he feels he could eat three baskets!
Shortly after, Scarface walked in carrying a thick stack of newspapers.
Scarface slammed the newspaper down and then scratched his head awkwardly.
"Ah! Everyone, listen to me!" Scarface shouted.
The diners in the restaurant all looked up.
"That's right, starting today, our Emerald City will have its own newspaper."
“Jade Newspaper, 5 copper coins per copy.”
Mr. Gray, who was eating steamed buns, was the first to look up. "Give me one."
This is like a pillow delivered to someone who's just trying to fall asleep.
These days, Mr. Gray couldn't refute a single one of his wife's complaints.
Unexpectedly, Emerald City published a newspaper today.
Scarface brought over a newspaper.
Originally, Mr. Gray had not had high expectations for the local newspaper.
He's a man who's seen the world.
I know very well that there's basically nothing serious in newspapers from such 'small places'.
Someone died in someone's family, someone got married in someone's family...
These news items could fill at most four pages.
As a result, the newspaper Scar brought was very thick, with at least 50 pages.
Gray raised an eyebrow slightly.
That's impressive! Just look at the content on these pages; this must be the standard of a major newspaper.
At this moment, Gray hadn't paid much attention to the newspaper in his hand.
I just assumed that the city lord must have filled the newspaper with a lot of useless stuff to fill up the space.
Don't be surprised that lords in these small places would do this.
The most outrageous thing he had ever seen was a city lord who forcibly mandated that his subjects write an article praising him every day.
He then printed these articles in the local newspaper and forced the residents to buy them.
"I hope the lord of Emerald City isn't such a fool, or I'll really have to move away..." Gray muttered to himself.
