Chapter 142 Coveting

"Do you also believe in that doomsday prophecy?" Li Aili asked, looking into Joshua's light silver eyes.

Joshua stopped in his tracks. "Did you know that becoming a cardinal archbishop grants access to the Papal Court's top-secret archives?"

Li Aili then stopped in her tracks. "It seems you've already been there?"

Joshua nodded.

Li Aili asked without any sarcasm, "I'm curious, is there any record of the Holy Dragon Era there?"

Joshua looked at Ellie Lee and smiled slightly.

“Our focus is a little different, miss.”

“What I’m seeing is—” Joshua’s voice trailed off.

"The war of the gods that broke out during the Holy Dragon Era caused the fall of countless gods, and the positions of these fallen gods are still vacant."

Joshua's smile faded. "So many gods, so many divine entities, where could they have gone?"

The two remained silent.

"It seems to be getting late." Joshua looked up at the sun in the sky.

“Let’s stop here for now,” Joshua said, turning and walking toward the pure white carriage behind him.

Before boarding the carriage, he seemed to suddenly remember something, "Oh right~ one last question."

"Miss Li Aili, how...how are you feeling right now?"

Li Aili: "?"

Joshua smiled slightly, “You have made our gods fear.”

"What is your view of us? I would say we are the intelligent race of this world."

He pointed to the ground.

There's an ant carrying bricks and leaf scraps, "Isn't that how we see them?"

Li Aili: "..."

The people from the Holy See looked at her.

Those gazes were filled with hatred and fear.

Being stared at like that, Li Aili had a strange feeling, as if she had been given the script of the main villain in a novel.

“Lord Joshua,” Li Aili called out to Joshua as he boarded the carriage.

The young cardinal archbishop looked out of the carriage window.

"In fact, there is such a myth in my hometown, I think."

“There was a god-king who received a prophecy that he would be killed by his own child.”

"Therefore, fearing that the prophecy would come true, the god-king would swallow his own child whenever a child was born."

"His wife secretly hid a child."

"Then, when this child grew up, fearing that his father would one day eat him, he killed his father and became the new god-king."

After telling her 'story,' Li Aili stood outside the carriage and waved to the Cardinal Archbishop, whose expression was inscrutable.

"Have a safe journey, Your Excellency Joshua."

After saying that, she turned and walked towards the villa.

...

The Emerald City is under construction in full swing.

Jade News became an overnight sensation due to the exclusive revelation by "Red Dragon Consort".

People around the world have come to pay attention to this rapidly rising duchy because of the Jade News's 'Secret Files of the Dragons'.

This made Emerald City famous overnight, spreading its fame to every corner of the world.

Whether it was the underground city dwellers who spent their days digging with pickaxes, or people from the six great empires, everyone knew about Emerald City.

The Mordo Griffin Empire, the Red Quinoa Duchy.

Duke Glenn Modor Griffin swirled the wine glass in his hand.

"So, you're saying that Augustus Saint Nich gave up his status as the Holy Son of the Holy Light and came back to participate in the Dragon Tournament all because of... a woman?" Gran Mordo Griffin asked with interest, stroking his chin.

Today is a small gathering of a secret society.

The princes of the six great empires secretly formed a secret society called the 'Dragon Society'.

Members of the Dragon Society must be princes who have won the 'Dragon Championship'.

With another 'Dragon Championship' approaching, the 'Dragon Club' has become active again.

The location for this gathering just so happened to be Red Quinoa City, owned by Vice President Glenn Modogriffin.

"Yes, I also heard that he was rejected, so he drank heavily for a month."

"I don't know if he will participate in this year's 'Dragon Championship'."

Upon hearing this, everyone became interested.

"Who knows? I'm more curious about who defeated him?"

"Me too. Who beat him? Augustus was, after all, a candidate for Holy Son of the Holy See."

“I do know a little about that.” The gray-haired man sitting next to Glenn smiled.

Everyone looked at the person who had spoken.

The gray-haired man looked to be in his early thirties, and his eyes were as sinister as a green dragon's.

His contracted dragon happened to be a green dragon.

"That Clark rebel, the guy who created a Lich King... what's his name, Arthur's guy."

Upon hearing this, a drunken dragon knight who was half-lying on the sofa raised his head.

"Arthur Cold Jade?"

“I remember that after they replaced the Clark royal family, they seemed to have changed their surname.”

“Saint Dragon. I remember that’s the surname.”

Glenn swirled the wine in his glass. "How arrogant are these country lords to have 'Dragon' in their surnames?"

The gray-haired man smiled at him. "President, shall we teach these country lords a lesson?"

Another person laughed and said, "Hey, what if Augustus is the champion this year..."

"Should we kill that guy, the Holy Dragon?"

"Then we'll take his woman and give her to Augustus as a gift for joining the 'Dragon Society'."

"Great idea, worth a drink, ha!"
