Chapter 148 Plants vs. Dragons

Moonlight spilled onto the towering walls of Emerald City.

It's time for job rotation.

The knights changed shifts quietly and quickly.

The two Grand Knights taking their shifts clapped their hands lightly. "Go and rest, Lawrence."

The newly replaced Grand Knight Commander Lawrence stretched his limbs. "It's 3 a.m.."

"Nighttime is clearly the best time to attack," Lawrence muttered under his breath.

Upon hearing this, the substitute knight Lance laughed, "You placed a bet too?"

Lawrence scratched his head. "That 'Dragon Society' is always busy, but there have been more and more people betting these past few days, so I decided to take a gamble."

Lance smiled and shook his head. "I hope you didn't gamble too much money."

"Why?"

Lance patted Lawrence on the shoulder sympathetically. "Because you're bound to lose everything?"

Lawrence retorted, "Sir Lance, did you plant a spy within the Dragon Order?"

Why are you so sure?

Lance said, "Because Balk is on the same schedule as you, around 3 or 4 in the morning."

Lawrence: "………………"

The changing of the guard knights has already descended from the city wall.

But Lawrence remained silently by Lance's side in the night wind.

"Is Commander Balk's 'curse' truly unbreakable?"

Lawrence felt a pang of heartache at the thought of having tied up half a month's worth of drinking money.

Lance expressed his deepest sympathy for the newcomer, and then said, "From the day Balk became a knight, he has been blacklisted by the god of luck."

Lawrence: "…………"

Lance looked at the petrified newcomer and sighed, "Next time something like this happens, remember to probe Balk's intentions beforehand."

"What?"

Lance: "Eliminate the wrong option."

Lawrence: "..."

Watching the newlyweds disappear like ghosts around the corner of the city wall stairs, Lance shook his head helplessly.

After sunrise, at eight o'clock, the dragon still hadn't appeared.

Grand Knight Commander Renn climbed the city wall and looked up at the azure sky. Apart from a few passing birds, there wasn't a single dragon in sight.

Lance raised his hand and bumped it with Renn's.

"It's not here yet." Lance sighed and tore up the slip of paper he had placed his bet on.

Looking at the distant blue sky, Raine said, "I had heard that the nobles of the six great empires would bring women and even musicians to war, which I found ironic."

"Looking at it now, it may not be fake."

"Let them drag out the fighting."

Lance walked down the city wall.

On the watchtower, the sentry with the arcane telescope suddenly rang the alarm.

Thump, thump, thump!

"dragon!!!"

"The dragon is coming!!"

"So many dragons!!!"

As Lance walked down the path, he suddenly jolted awake, all his drowsiness vanishing.

A portal opened directly on the city wall.

Arthur Saint Dragon stepped out of the spatial portal.

The chilling aura emanating from him made the knights, who were on high alert, dare not even breathe.

Arthur's blue eyes immediately locked onto the 'little black dot' in the distance.

At first glance, these little black dots look like bees flying out of a hornet's nest after it has been disturbed.

Balk ran up the city wall.

Boxes of alchemical potions and elven pills were carried up the city walls.

Balk shouted, "Remember! Wait until the dragon is knocked down from above before throwing the alchemical potions and pills!"

The dragon flew incredibly fast; in the blink of an eye, the 'little black dot' in the sky had transformed into a 'giant bird'.

The Dragon Lord's domain was fully activated, and Arthur's domain instantly covered the entire Emerald City.

The sky, the ground, every blade of grass and every tree were all constructed in his mind.

The town in this rural area is really well-built.

He could 'hear' the conversation between the knights on the dragon's back perfectly clearly.

[Ha! What's the use? It'll just turn into a pile of ruins in the blink of an eye.]

Hehe, you guys better keep it to yourselves.

Oh, I almost forgot, there's a woman we can't kill.

I've heard that the woman His Excellency Augustus favors is here?

[I'm quite curious, what kind of woman is she? Ha, you know, even 'Helena,' who has the title of the Empire's most beautiful woman, was rejected by Augustus.]

Arthur's blue eyes transformed into the vertical pupils of a dragon.

A gust of wind blew by.

The corn cobs swayed in the wind, making a rustling sound.

All those plump, yellow ears of corn looked up at the approaching dragons, as if issuing a silent warning.

Hey, stop chatting nonsense.

What are you nervous about?

[To be honest, President Gray is exaggerating a bit.]

[183 giant dragons attacking a small rural town, hahaha.]

The knights on the city wall all held their breath.

Did the dragon fly too high?

What if I miss?

These questions lingered in the minds of every knight.

Wait... what the hell is that on the ground?!

[Is it corn...?]

[Bullshit! Whose corn is this big?!]

The intense 'firefight' lasted only a moment.

rattttt!

rat-a-tat-tat-tat!

Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat-tat!!!

The corn stalks resemble Gatling gun emplacements, with their enormous yellow kernels almost forming a dense line.

Whether it was the dragon in the sky or the people on its back, they were all caught off guard.

The dragon's screams echoed one after another.

The five-colored dragons fell to the ground like dumplings being thrown into a pot, tumbling and somersaulting.

Many of the knights on the dragon's back were unexpectedly thrown off.
