Chapter 198 Killing the Ex

Tap tap tap—

Armored boots echoed through the empty castle corridors, leaving behind a trail of hurried footsteps.

Two knights clad in full armor stood guard at the double doors of the conference room, swords at their sides.

The two gatekeeper knights looked at the newly appointed marquis approaching, their eyes beneath their helmets gleaming with undeniable admiration.

The person approaching was Lance, the hottest new Platinum Knight of the Cold Emerald Knights.

The promotion order had long been placed on His Highness the Duke's desk, waiting only for His Highness to return and stamp it with the family crest, at which point this Knight of Lance would become the new Grand Master of the Knights Order.

However, Lance himself did not show much joy on his face; instead, he wore an undisguised anxiety.

He hurried into the conference room, where two knights guarding the door closed the door, shutting out the noise.

"Has there been no news from His Highness yet?" Lance slammed his helmet down on the desk with one hand.

The room was filled with trusted confidants who had sworn allegiance to the Duke, and the core members of the two major knightly orders.

Lance was still breathing heavily; he had just rushed back from outside Emerald City.

"All the magic teleportation arrays were shut down. I had to ride a horse and use spatial teleportation to get back in time."

He didn't look well, with deep dark circles under his eyes. "I'll keep it short, the situation outside is very bad."

"I rushed back along the way, and it was all war. There were corpses everywhere. Damn it, those undead guys are ecstatic this time."

The knights in the conference room grew increasingly solemn as they listened.

"Bullshit! What did I tell you? Those stupid wolves in the North actually believe in resurrected undead!" Leo slammed his fist on the table in a fit of rage.

"Look at that! Now they've really messed things up! I really want to see the expressions on those stupid wolves' faces right now!"

Leo cursed, spitting as he spoke.

Balk stood by the open window, gazing at the Emerald City.

Emerald City remains bustling. Looking at the bright sunshine and the bustling commercial streets, it's hard to imagine that the evil dragons roaming outside and causing widespread suffering have had little impact on the city.

Balk slowly exhaled.

Locke asked worriedly, "Was Your Highness and Madam originally planning to go to the underground city for their honeymoon?"

"...I heard that the lady actually wanted to go to the island nation...My lady said that the Duchess wanted a honeymoon on an island."

Lance said slowly, "Locke, I think this must be a conspiracy."

"The timing of those two elves who came looking for the lady was too coincidental. Also, as soon as His Highness the Duke went to the dungeon, the one in the capital couldn't wait to start a war."

"The question now is, what exactly is that person trying to do by making such a big fuss?" another Grand Knight Commander asked.

"I have a feeling... that what he's plotting isn't so simple."

Balk turned and walked toward the desk. "If all else fails, could we try Victoria Road?"

The knights in the conference room looked at each other in bewilderment.

On the importance of 'Lady Diplomacy'.

Ignoring the solemn expressions of the other knights, Lance stood up wearily. "Anyway, I'm going back to rest now... I hope Your Highness will return soon."

"I have a feeling that something bad is going to happen..."

...

Li Aili and her group, holding the 'sky-high price tickets' they bought from scalpers, searched for their seats in the back row of the arena.

Just imagine that a regular seat in the back row costs 200,000 gold coins... Li Aili was so 'moved' she wanted to cry.

Quesang was really upset; she was devastated. They could have just robbed it openly, but instead they gave her a ticket.

As soon as Li Aili and the others sat down, several children came out carrying wooden boxes, selling some local specialties of Quesang.

Speaking of dungeon adventures, Li Aili was looking forward to the dungeon's special delicacies before she came.

But after arriving...

"Dear lady, would you like a 'Salt-Baked Missy Bug'?"

Inside the square wooden box, there won't be any sugary drinks or American hot dogs smeared with ketchup.

The "snacks" placed on the brown moss were actually "demon insects" in all sorts of bizarre and grotesque ways of dying.

Despite the thoughtful gesture of the little drow who sold this special delicacy, who ground coarse salt into a 'frosting' and sprinkled it on the demon insect meat... this delicacy still made Li Aili's face turn green.

I won't eat it!

I'd rather die than eat that!

However, before the few drow had left, Leslie tossed them a few of the smallest denomination Quesan coins.

After receiving the money, the young boys ran off laughing and joking to their next 'target group'.

Before Li Aili could look over, Leslie whispered, "These kids must be thieves."

“If we don’t get the money, we’ll be targeted. Believe me, these local bullies may not be able to harm us, but if they try anything, they’ll definitely ruin our plans.”

Li Aili: "..." I never want to come to the dungeon again in my life, *smile*.

Amidst the waves of cheers from the arena's audience, the iron railings on the field soon began to move.

First, the light suddenly dimmed.

The experienced adventurer Wendy Shani immediately whispered, "It's dark magic."

She and Leslie were tense, like stressed cats.

The Duke remained calm and composed, glancing at the Drow of Quesang City with an open eye, which was all a sign of respect for the Drow.

Immediately afterwards, several fireworks exploded with a series of "bangs," and magical fireworks burst above the audience's heads, forming the shapes of Charmon and the hybrid Abyss creature.

In an instant, it ignited the passion of the audience.

The cheers were like a tsunami.

Using amplification magic, the host passionately asked, "Please tell me loudly, who is the King of Gladiators in your hearts?!"
