The following morning, Bishop Joshua arrived at the front courtyard of Neuschwanstein Castle with several Knights of Light.
Eight knights of light drew their knightly swords and raised them high above their heads.
In an instant, the tip of the sword shone with dazzling holy light. Eight beams of holy light converged, and Bishop Joshua stood beneath the massive converging light, raising his hand to tear off a parchment scroll.
A magic circle appeared out of nowhere.
Seeing this from the window, Li Aili exclaimed, "Wow! What's that?"
“A spatial magic scroll.” Arthur walked over and looked down at the spatial magic circle in the front courtyard.
Five judges, dressed in black robes and wielding iron chains and scales, emerged from the magic circle.
They wore pointed judge's hats. Except for their eyes, their entire faces were covered by "holy veils" painted with the white emblem of the Holy Sun.
This is the infamous tribunal of the Holy Light Court.
Joshua stepped forward and spoke with these people.
"Are they the jury?" This was the first time Li Aili had ever seen people dressed like this.
“Look at them, they’re holding the ‘Scales of Honesty’ and the ‘Chain of Repentance.’ It’s definitely them,” said the pomegranate-like creature that had come closer, stroking its chin.
Li Aili: "..." She looked at Arthur standing on the other side with a blank expression.
"So, why is he here?"
Duke Red Pomegranate blinked and turned to Arthur, asking, "Why can't I be here?"
Li Aili: "..."
Since last night, Brandon Red Pomegranate has stopped pretending in front of her.
“Shouldn’t you be preparing to welcome the ‘distinguished guest,’ Duke?” Li Aili deliberately emphasized the last two words.
Red Pomegranate shrugged innocently. "In that case, what would I need Mark for?"
Li Aili: "..."
"Could that jury have some secret weapon?" she decided to ignore the shameless pomegranate and instead asked Arthur.
Duke Red Pomegranate had no idea what was going on. He pointed at one of the judges and said, "See that 'scales' in their hands?"
Each person holds a scale; the leader holds a golden scale, while the other four hold silver ones.
This scale is quite interesting. On the left side of the scale sits an evil devil, while on the right side stands a righteous angel.
"When you tell the truth, the scales will tip toward the angels, but when you lie, the scales will tip toward the devil."
Li Aili: "..." Then why are you guys so relaxed?
She immediately pulled out three bottles of forgetfulness potion; she had prepared the potion ever since the day the Red Pomegranate Duke put on the 'environmental hat'.
"Come on, one bottle each!"
Brandon looked at the three bottles of [Forgetfulness Potion] with a strange expression. "Ah, this is the potion that makes people forget I'm wearing that hat?"
Li Aili turned around angrily, her eyes questioning Arthur: How could you tell him all this?!
Arthur said helplessly, "Don't tease her, Brandon."
Arthur turned to Li Aili and said, "Don't worry, 'Libra' is not a problem."
Brandon shrugged. "Tsk."
He turned and walked toward the study door, saying lazily, "I'm going downstairs to deal with those annoying people. You can do as you please."
The inquisition spent a day at Neuschwanstein Castle, but found nothing except for a mad (former) cardinal.
Of course, this is inseparable from the fact that they set their sights on Duke Cold Jade as soon as they arrived.
However, even after questioning everyone who was in the castle that day, the testimonies they received were all the same: 'The Duke of Cold Emerald was present the entire time and never left.'
Even when questioned by Bishop Joshua, there was not a single testimony that was detrimental to the Duke of Cold Jade.
However, just to be on the safe side... they still used the 'scales of honesty' and politely asked the Duke a few small questions.
Unsurprisingly, the 'Libra of Honesty' was as dead in front of the Duke.
He neither sided with the devil nor turned to the angel, remaining completely still, leaving the judges embarrassed and digging their toes into the ground.
In the end, they had no choice but to send away the duke, who didn't even bother to look at them.
Later, the persistent inquisition 'caught' the Duke of Pomegranate in the castle, who was running around like a wildcat.
As someone who had remained out of the public eye on the day of the incident, Brandon was clearly the focus of the jury, who were eager to see what was going on.
But the result was still pleasing. No matter what questions they asked, Brandon only said one thing: "I was in the castle the whole day, and I didn't leave."
The honesty scales seemed to have snapped, tilting wildly towards the angel's side.
Silence is the jury today.
When it was Li Aili's turn, all five judges began to give up on themselves.
As Li Aili walked in, she saw bubbles the color of dead fish above their heads:
"Ugh... damn it... they found nothing again... today is another day I feel like dying..."
Li Aili: "..." She's not afraid now.
[As expected, this time we still have to shift the blame to the Dark Church. Thank God of Light for giving us such a group of scapegoats who are always willing to take the blame and never explain themselves… uh, opponents.]
Ugh, this is so annoying, how am I supposed to write this lousy report?
I knew it; only thankless tasks like this would fall to unlucky souls like us without any faction.
Li Aili: "..."
So, just how much of the blame have you made the Dark Church take the fall for?
"Duchess Cold Emerald, was the Duke of Cold Emerald by your side yesterday?"
Li Aili spoke slowly, "Yesterday, the Duke was indeed by my side the whole time."
