Chapter Ninety-Four: The Rival Must Die

Conrad simply took three steps back.

Li Aili stared wide-eyed, like a kitten whose tail had been grabbed.

She practically had "Don't hurt me" written all over her face.

The prospective holy sons, holding bouquets of flowers, became animated upon seeing Li Aili's radiant face.

Ever since that day he stopped the Elf King's Pegasus chariot, he has been like someone poisoned by love.

He fell hopelessly in love with the woman in front of him.

Therefore, he can give up his status as a candidate for the Holy Son.

He even went so far as to return to Saint-Néch and participate in the power struggle he once scorned, all to increase his own bargaining power...

Thinking of this, Augustus greeted Li Aili warmly: "Hello, Miss Nice."

Li Aili really wanted to close the door.

However, it was ultimately too late.

From behind her came Arthur's deep, calm voice, "Ellie, who is this?"

The voice cannot be discerned as joy or anger.

Li Aili: "…………"

Almost instinctively, she flung the door shut with a bang.

Li Aili, realizing what was happening, was speechless.

Arthur, looking down at Li Aili, was speechless.

Conrad, who silently looked away, was speechless.

"No one." Li Aili opened her eyes wide, trying her best to make her tone convey that she had a clear conscience.

However, at that moment, there was a knock on the door behind them, "knock knock knock".

The knocking was somewhat hurried.

"Miss Nice!?" the man outside called out worriedly, "What happened?"

Arthur lifted his eyelids and stared at the door panel.

His gaze seemed to penetrate the wooden door and pierce through to Augustus Saint-Niech's face outside.

"Open the door," he said calmly.

Li Aili: "..."

"Knock knock knock—", Augustus outside was still banging on the door, oblivious to the danger.

"Miss Ellie! What happened?!"

Arthur: "Darling."

Li Aili: "..."

"Open the door," Arthur said.

"Knock knock knock, knock knock knock knock knock knock."

Is that a knock on the door?

Li Aili was numb.

With a "whatever" attitude, she pushed open the door.

Outside the door, Augustus, who was about to knock again, paused.

Upon seeing Ellie, his expression brightened; he was holding a very beautiful bouquet of flowers.

Red ones, pink ones—they're all rare and expensive varieties.

Li Aili pursed her lips, looked at the flowers, and closed her eyes.

It's hard to explain.

She turned and looked at Arthur.

Her boyfriend's expression was indifferent.

His deep blue eyes gazed calmly at the bouquet of flowers.

Li Aili secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

She knew it! Her Arthur is so...

In an instant, the large bouquet of blooming flowers withered and decayed.

Augustus: "!!"

Li Aili: "..."

Arthur glanced at Augustus, his thin lips parted slightly, and he uttered only one word, "Get lost."

Augustus's face turned deathly pale instantly, his forehead was covered in sweat, and his fingers trembled uncontrollably.

Li Aili didn't dare to speak at all.

I was afraid that any action I took might cause a misunderstanding.

At this moment, the old butler Conrad stepped forward and said very considerately, "Your Highness, let me escort this gentleman back."

Li Aili: "..." Go back where? Back to my hometown?

Conrad walked out the door and gently placed a hand on the shoulder of the alternate Holy Son, Augustus.

The next moment, a black hole appeared beneath Conrad's feet.

The two slowly sank until they disappeared.

Arthur turned and walked back to his desk, while Li Aili felt uneasy.

"Ah, that person..."

“It’s alright, Ellie.” Arthur sat back down at his desk, picked up his pen, and continued writing down instructions on the official documents.

Li Aili secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Her Arthur is still the best!

Then, just a minute after the thought popped into his head, he heard Arthur ask:

How did you meet?

Li Aili: "…………"

After a two-second silence, Li Aili said, "That time I went to attend the investiture ceremony in the capital."

Arthur nodded and turned to a document.

The only sound in the room was the whirring of a quill pen tip across parchment.

ah!

Is everything really okay this time?

Li Aili cautiously moved closer to Arthur.

He is responding to a document entitled "Confirmation Letter for the New Knights Training Program".

The frantic handwriting read: "Do you really need to ask me this? Is your neck made of stone?"

Li Aili: "………………"

Arthur calmly tossed the document aside and quickly began reviewing the next one.

"And then what?"

Li Aili was taken aback by the sudden question.

"After that, he still bothered you?"

Li Aili: "..."

"I met him two or three more times after that."

Arthur held a document in his hand, written in a style perfectly suited to aristocratic correspondence, on which he left a brief annotation:

Speak like a human being.

Then he tossed it aside, asking, "Twice, or three times?"

Li Aili: "..."

She took a deep breath. "Three times."

Arthur reviewed the end-of-month summary document from the commander of the Cold Emerald Knights.

At the end of the document, an even more frantic line was left:

Next month, training will be doubled.

Li Aili: "…………"

Maybe you should just stop!

And so, Li Aili behaved like a little kitten all day.

Stay by Arthur's side and try your best to soothe your boyfriend.

I finally made it to night and lay down in bed.
