In the afternoon, sunlight streamed through the stained-glass windows of the palace, falling upon the Holy Maiden of Light.
Aniana clasped her hands together, closed her eyes, and imagined that this light was the warm embrace of God.
And she was being held in the arms of that handsome god.
“My God,” Aniana prayed in the empty room, “Sophia has gone to the snowy land.”
“I used the divine status of the god of trickery to deceive my father.”
She opened her eyes and stared fervently at the statue of the God of Light.
Will you reward me?
"I long to go to a place closer to the light."
"I long to see you."
“I long to…be your wife.”
"I long for..."
"To become a god, can you tell me how to become a god?"
"I don't want to become some powerful god, I just want to be a little god who basks in your divine light..."
The statue of the God of Light simply stood there quietly.
The saintess lay on the table where the idol was placed, and softly hummed the "Aria of Light".
...
Following the scent of blood, they arrived at the 'Ice and Snow Royal City' of the Winter Wolf Clan, where the decisive battle had broken out seven years prior.
"The smell of blood." Margaret squinted her dragon eyes, her gaze fixed on the ruins of the Ice and Snow Castle.
"There was a bloody smell everywhere, a chaotic smell of blood."
"Fresh, old..."
Everyone tensed up after hearing Margaret's words.
The knights drew their longswords.
Sophia was no exception.
A fist-sized blue dragon gem was embedded in her knight's longsword.
This gem is called the 'Northern Star'. It was a gift from Prince Alex to 14-year-old Sophia when she made a contract with Margaret.
After that, Sophia indeed became the empire's 'guiding star', just as the prince had hoped.
Sophia looked around.
"Margaret, where is the smell of blood the strongest?"
Margaret looked at the enormous black hole in the center of the Ice and Snow Royal City.
This black hole was the 'entrance' for the invasion of abyssal creatures.
Originally, it should have been sealed by the power of the Dragon God.
But now it seems...
Because the Dragon God divided the magical authority, the level of divine power dropped, and the seal here is no longer secure.
After locking onto the target, Sophia gave the knight a hand signal.
"Send someone back to inform the Emperor."
One of the guardian knights received the order and raised his hand to tear open the spatial gate.
Then... his expression changed drastically, going from astonishment to terror in just one second.
"Your Highness!"
"The portal can't be opened here!?"
The knights panicked and tried to open the portal.
Without exception, all of them failed.
Standing on the white snow, these dragon knights were covered in cold sweat.
A cold wind blew, and tiny ice beads fell down in a rustling sound.
Sophia dared not relax; she was still trying to find out the situation in the deep pit.
"Then let's fly back."
"Let's have a few more people and fly back together."
They can look out for each other.
There is no sunlight here; thick, dark clouds cover the area, and even looking up, you can't see the blue sky.
After Sophia finished speaking, Anthony immediately selected several guardian knights.
Tell them to quickly report the situation here to the Holy Dragon.
When they arrived, they dared not let the emperor know their destination.
The situation is urgent.
The Emperor must be informed of this strange occurrence!
Soon, the dragons, carrying their dragon riders, soared into the cloud-covered sky...
Almost the instant their figures disappeared into the clouds, a dragon's mournful howl echoed from the sky.
Everyone looked up in shock.
"Oops!"
"There's something in the clouds!!"
"We've been ambushed!"
But, before Anthony could go up to provide support...
Then, 'red rain' began to fall from the clouds...
Accompanied by large chunks of dragon flesh.
A drop of crimson dragon blood splattered onto Sophia's fair skin.
Just as Sophia was about to climb onto Margaret's back, sword in hand, and charge into the clouds to see what was causing the trouble there...
A giant dragon head fell from the clouds.
That's the brass dragon that guards Knight Bill's contract.
The broken dragon head was covered in bite marks.
This dragon's head was torn off while it was still alive!
The severed dragon head fell straight into the abyss right in front of Sophia.
"careful!!"
"Up in the clouds..." He didn't finish his sentence.
A dragon knight rode his dragon and charged out of the clouds.
However, the dragon was badly injured; large pieces of its bronze scales had peeled off, and half of its left wing had been torn off.
It barely managed to dive towards the ground.
“Thompson!” Anthony shouted, his eyes red.
The knight who broke through the encirclement roared at them from afar:
"Run!!!!"
"This place is full of dragons!!!"
"There are hundreds! No! Thousands!!!"
Ordinary people might not be able to hear it due to distance.
But the extraordinary dragon knights undoubtedly heard these words.
They were so shocked that they couldn't process what was happening for a moment.
What kind of dragon?
Why do dragons attack us?
How could there be a dragon here?
Just then, another shower of blood rained down from the sky.
Everything happened too fast.
The blood rain, mixed with bits of flesh, fell from the sky.
Then, one after another, enormous, colorful dragons never seen before broke through the clouds and chased straight after the dragon knight who had warned Sophia.
