Chapter Sixty-Three: The Wheels of History

Looking at the charred, burnt bread on the table, Li Aili inexplicably felt a sense of closeness to Fisher-Nankey.

This mentality is probably like this:

Seeing that my brother-in-law's cooking skills are worse than mine, I feel relieved.

"From now on, if anyone says my cooking is bad, I'll bring out the Elf King Tankar!"

But isn't something a little off?

The court pastry chef Catherine mentioned...

I came all the way here specifically to learn how to make desserts.

"It's you, wanting to see the head chef?" A cold male voice came from behind.

The Elf Prince removed his white chef's hat and walked out of the kitchen.

Seeing Li Aili deep in thought while facing the bread, Fisher-Nankey casually picked up a dinner knife and walked to the dining table.

He said to Li Aili, "This dessert requires you to break the outer shell."

As he spoke, he used the back of his knife to break the charred outer shell of the bread.

It revealed the golden bread center inside, which smelled rich and sweet with milk.

Fisher-Nankey picked up a piece of maple syrup and drizzled it over the soft bread.

"Emerald Green Garden White Bread, please don't be like that fool just now."

"He's never seen the world, and he's making a big fuss about nothing."

Li Aili: "..."

Arthur: "..."

Li Aili's eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at the delicious food in front of her.

Then, she looked at the teenage version of Fisher-Nankey in disbelief.

Why would an elf with a throne to inherit want to compete in cooking?!

Fisher-Nankey was looking at him with a puzzled expression.

"Do you have any questions?" Fisheranki asked.

Arthur stared at Fisheranki, his gaze highly wary. "Are you a wood elf?"

"Which tribe of wood elves?"

Why open a restaurant in Shenglong?

Fisher-Nankey squinted at Arthur.

The elf raised an eyebrow. "Heh, what's it to you?"

Seeing that the two were on the verge of conflict and the atmosphere was getting worse as they talked, Li Aili quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

"It's nothing, we're just curious."

"You are the best cook I have ever seen among elves."

Hearing the praise, Fisher's expression softened, and he said to Li Aili:

"I have been dedicated to becoming the world's top pastry chef since I was a child."

Li Aili: "..." Wait, boy, aren't you the Elf King?!

And isn't your dream to make Tankar's housing prices the highest in the world?!

Arthur glanced at Ellie.

From the moment she entered, Li Aili's gaze remained fixed on the elf.

His gaze toward Fisheranaki turned hostile.

“Ellie, he’s a wood elf, and of royal blood at that,” Arthur said, pointing to the necklace around Fisheranki’s neck.

Caught off guard, Fisher-Nankey, whose secrets had been exposed, was speechless.

Arthur stated the facts: "Royal elves are not allowed to intermarry with other races."

Fisheranki scoffed, "Then when I become the Elf King, I'll abolish this rule."

Arthur glanced at him. "Ha, how long until you're an adult?"

"Five hundred years?"

Fisher-Nankey: "..."

Their eyes met, and sparks flew between them.

Li Aili, however, was lost in thought.

Arthur's words triggered her memories.

Arthur had told her that Fisheranki had taken on the throne when he was very young…

Is it now?

Is something bad about to happen to the elves?

Li Aili pursed her lips and tentatively asked, "Mr. Fei... Elf, may I ask, if, I mean if one day..."

"If you were to become the Elf King one day... what would you do?"

Fisher-Nankey looked at Ellie Lee and found the question strange.

But after thinking about it, he decided to tell the truth: "My elders are still in their prime."

"If I were to inherit the throne, it would truly be 1,000 years from now."

Li Aili could no longer smile.

"But what if... what if you recently inherited the throne?"

"Hey!" Panticillin glared at them angrily.

Fisheranki raised his hand to stop Panticillin.

The pendant on his necklace gleamed slightly.

Fisher-Nankey looked at the necklace pendant, then at Ellie Lee.

Arthur narrowed his eyes slightly, examining the necklace. "A divine artifact?"

Fishernaki looked intently at Li Aili, and after a moment's thought, said, "If I were to inherit the throne soon, it would mean that my parents must have died a violent death."

"I think I will lead my people to avenge my parents."

Li Aili fell silent.

When she met Fisheranki, he no longer had parents.

They severed ties with other elves and lived independently in Tankar, far from the elven settlements.

Li Aili said, "No."

"That won't work."

She looked intently at Fisher-Nankey and said, “There’s a saying in my hometown: ‘A gentleman takes revenge, even after ten years.’”

"If that day ever comes, you must shoulder the responsibilities of a king and do everything in your power to protect the rest of your people."

"Then, you must take them away from where the elves are currently gathered."

"Find a gray area to survive in."

"Store up grain and delay declaring yourself king. Wait for the right opportunity to exact revenge!"

Fisher-Nankey: "..."

What's said is said.

Li Aili then looked at Panticilin, "You can't be a lawless madman."

"Let me give you an example."

"You beat up that guy earlier, so he might not be seriously injured."

"But if he reports you to the sheriff, you'll at least face administrative detention."
