Chapter Three: The Great Crisis at the Alchemy House

Li Aili brought two "magical plants" into the Alchemy House.

The alchemy workshop has only one huge crafting table on the first floor.

The paths leading to the basement and the second floor were blocked off by black barriers.

On the workbench there is an old copper crucible, a stone grinding bowl, a bellows for heating the fire under the crucible, and a long-handled copper ladle for adding water base.

Li Aili simply stuck two "magical plants" into the grinding mortar, thus solving the problem of the loss of medicinal properties.

This is a small "bug" in the alchemy workshop: the medicinal properties of the "magical plants" placed in the grinding mortar are sealed.

However, the grinding mortar is small, only big enough to hold two or three more magical plants before it's full. Clearly, exploiting this "bug" is not a long-term solution.

Inside Constantinople, Li Aili dared not stay in the "Alchemy Room" for too long. She had just stepped out of the "Alchemy Room" when the living room door was kicked open with a bang, startling her so much her heart nearly leaped out of her chest.

Arthur's cold, emerald-blue eyes swept across the small living room. Then, his black boots trotted onto the soft, handmade carpet.

The Duke's jet-black hair was stuck to his pale forehead with sweat. The man, who had just exercised, exuded an aggressive aura.

Li Aili instinctively took a step back, and after calming down, asked warily, "What are you doing?"

Arthur Cold Jade approached step by step. Li Ai Li retreated step by step until her back hit the wall.

Duke Cold Jade raised his hand and braced himself against the wall, trapping Li Aili between himself and the wall. "I told you, don't cause trouble under my nose."

The tall, handsome man lowered his head slightly. "Did you not remember, or did you not understand, hmm?"

Li Aili reached out and pushed hard against the Duke's chest, saying, "I don't know what you're talking about."

The Duke remained motionless, expressionless, and gripped Li Aili's wrist with his other hand.

Her icy blue eyes lingered on the slender, fair wrist for a moment before tossing it aside.

"This is the last time. Don't let me catch you again." With those words, Duke Cold Jade turned and left.

Li Aili was a little flustered. She wondered if it was just her imagination, but could this man possibly sense that she had entered the alchemy room?!

...

the next day.

Li Aili, who had gotten up early, stretched and yawned in front of the window.

The maid was acting strangely today, following her around like a shadow, which made her feel a little uncomfortable.

The knights practiced on the green field.

Knight Balk's face was a truly "horrific" mess, marked with handprints and nail scratches. Have you ever seen a cat scratching post that's been torn to shreds by a cat? That's exactly what his face looked like.

But he could still watch the knights train with a blank expression.

Li Aili admired Mrs. Anne's masterpiece from a great distance, feeling extremely refreshed.

Li Aili silently made a "seal of light" on her chest, thanking the God of Light for His intervention. o(* ̄︶ ̄*)o

Immediately afterwards, she saw Arthur Cold Jade walk out of the castle and board the carriage, followed by a squad of trained knights escorting the carriage away.

Li Aili seized the opportunity and rushed into the Alchemy Room. Before she could even feel happy, she received some incredibly devastating news.

Because there's no alchemical potion sales, her reputation is still a repulsive zero. So, her backyard has produced even less fruit again!

Today's harvest was only one "fire bell".

If things continue like this, the backyard might not even produce a single "miracle plant" tomorrow.

The situation is absolutely terrible.

No reputation = no materials to make potions = no alchemy potions = the alchemy shop might just be abandoned like this?!

Let's take stock of our total 'assets':

A water flower;

A root of Terra;

A fire bell.

And then, that was it!

That's it!!!

Are you trying to gain reputation by relying on these three "magical plants"?

What if you choose the wrong medicine and can't sell it... then you'll lose everything!

Then wouldn't the "Alchemy House" super cheat ability be useless?

Thinking about it, she broke out in a cold sweat.

After leaving the alchemy room, Li Aili paced anxiously around the room.

What should we do?

What kind of potion should I make? And who should I sell it to to maximize my reputation?

Just as she was getting irritated, a maid cautiously knocked on the door. Li Aili scratched her head in frustration; she was certain that the maid's watchful eye, as if she were a spy, was definitely related to some duke!

"Duchess, the ladies of the Knights have arrived and are waiting for you in the small drawing room on the south side of the second floor."

After the war was over and the victory banquet was held, it was time to comfort the families of the knights who had died or been wounded in the war. This was also the Duchess's responsibility. However, in her memory, Arthur Cold Jade had never made the original owner of this body do these things.

This is truly a case of misfortunes never coming singly! The major crisis at the alchemy shop hasn't been resolved yet, and now she seems to have caught the eye of the mad Duke! What should she do?!

Seeing Li Aili, who seemed a little dazed, enter the reception room, the ladies waiting there all stood up and bowed, "Madam, good afternoon."

Unlike the spirited ladies who visited yesterday, these women today wore worried expressions, which even their exquisite makeup couldn't conceal. Li Aili subconsciously glanced at the tops of their heads.

[Edward...will he try to kill himself while I'm gone?]

Why attack Lord Coran's territory?

[If the Knights hadn't conquered so much of Lord Coran's territory, the Holy See wouldn't have refused to treat Edward...]

If it weren't for this, would Edward have been contemplating suicide? What should I do? Without Edward, I don't want to live anymore.
