Chapter Twenty-Eight: Tea Master VS. Social Bull

A few days later, Li Aili received the answers submitted by the knights' wives.

Dozens of copies, a thick stack, were placed in my hand.

At a ratio of 10:1, she should be able to select at least four or five, right?

So she couldn't wait to grade the exam papers.

There was no other way; supplying medicine to the Knights by herself was exhausting her.

Ellie's "Alchemy Workshop" desperately needs a bunch of laborers (just kidding!), and a bunch of apprentices. (^?^)

She makes dozens of healing potions every day, and her skill level is now so high that she can make a medium-potency healing potion with her eyes closed.

But even the strongest ones don't work.

Her proficiency level wouldn't increase any further; she could feel that she was just one step away from getting the most potent potion.

The production of fire potions and ice potions also needs to be increased.

However, there is only one Li Aili.

The pressure from the employers made her greedily look at the exam paper in her hand, desperately needing to dig out a usable alchemy apprentice from it.

However... the truth is always cruel.

From the papers, Li Aili could tell that the ladies had really put a lot of effort into writing them.

Every available space was filled with writing.

If the score were based on word count, each of them could get 10,000 points on a 100-point test.

Unfortunately, alchemy isn't like writing a book and getting some points from the teacher based on personal feelings.

Li Aili took a deep breath, picked up a test paper filled with writing, and began to read it.

Question 1.

Question: What two magical plants are used to make the healing potion?

Someone actually wrote below: "It requires love and perseverance."

Li Aili: "???"

Then the lady timidly added another line at the end: "I'm so sorry! I remembered everything while reading the book! But as soon as I closed it, my mind went completely blank!!"

He added a second line below: "I really want to pass the exam. Madam, could you please let me pass, considering we're both members of the 'Literary Exchange Association'?"

Then another line was added: "Maybe I just lack talent for written exams, but I'm a great cook! Perhaps alchemy is similar to cooking?"

Li Aili: "..." She wrote a short essay, but unfortunately, she still got zero points.

She set the first question to give everyone a "basic living allowance," so as not to dampen their enthusiasm, she couldn't let the ladies go home with nothing.

Who knew they could answer with such a beautiful word?

Li Aili didn't need to look any further; she started flipping to the first question.

After one round of elimination, only one answer was correct.

And this one is also very honest.

She noted after her answer, "I glanced at the textbook, but immediately closed it!"

Li Aili: "..." Okay, I answered correctly.

Is there any point in continuing to watch this?

She was so exhausted that she ended up writing a standard answer and then handing over the grading work to Joanna.

Feeling heavy-hearted, Li Aili decided to go to the city center to inspect Ba Jin's work, to clear her mind and forget about the wives' disheartening answers.

Shortly after she left the castle, the Duke received a secret report.

Marquis Marina is about to enter the central city. She seems to have learned of the lady's whereabouts through some channels and is heading to the alchemy shop in the lower city.

Arthur Cold Jade jumped to his feet, his blue eyes flashing with murderous intent. "Prepare the horses."

A luxurious carriage, engraved with the family crest of cold jade, stopped in front of the alchemy shop.

Li Aili lifted her skirt and walked into the store, where she heard Ba Jin enthusiastically introducing the [Flying Potion] to a group of adventurers.

"If you want to cross the Dark Canyon, I highly recommend this [Flight Potion]. Drink it and you will be able to fly high into the sky and then cross the dangerous canyon from the air."

"What?! We don't have any spellcasters in our team, and it can make us fly?!"

Ba Jin chuckled sheepishly, “Of course, esteemed adventurer! It can make an elephant fly for hours with ease, and apart from a few minor side effects, there are absolutely no problems.”

These adventurers were clearly seasoned veterans; upon hearing this, they immediately became alert. "What negative effects could there be?"

"Oh, right, he has a side effect of greatly increasing 'favorability', hehe~ that's easy to solve, just don't flock to the group of intelligent races."

Upon hearing this, the adventurers breathed a sigh of relief. "How much does this potion cost?"

The minotaur's smile became even more "honest," and he stretched out his two hands, gesturing a number.

"Damn it! You're robbing me?!" the adventurer cursed angrily.

Bajin the Minotaur said innocently, "How could that be, adventurer sir? People as knowledgeable as you must know that we Minotaurs are the most honest race."

"That's why our boss is comfortable letting me run the shop alone, isn't it?"

“Hey, let me do the math for you. Look, if you want to hike through the Dark Canyon, it will cost even more. You'll need to hire a guide, right?”

"Hey, the local guides all charge exorbitant prices. 700 gold coins is a low price, and they'll ask for one or two thousand."

"What if you get injured in the canyon? Wouldn't you need to get treatment?"

Magic potions are so expensive, one bottle costs as much as five of our [Flying Potions]. If all five of you men get injured, how much money will that cost?

As for the Holy Water of Light from the Holy See, well, unless you donate seven or eight thousand gold coins to the church, those archbishops won't even bother with you, don't you think?"

The adventurers were almost brought to tears by what they were being told.

What's going on?! I really want to retire from this life! These adventurers risk their lives, and in the end, it's all these medicine-selling bastards who benefit! Waaaaah!
