Chapter Twenty-Five: I am the 'Most Powerful Assassin'!

This fantastical continent is home to all sorts of species and professions.

As night falls in the lower part of the city center, some taverns that only open at night become brightly lit.

A man in a black cloak walks on the uneven cobblestone road.

He walked to the door of an inconspicuous tavern that didn't even have a sign, looked around cautiously, and then bent his fingers and tapped rhythmically a few times.

Knock, knock knock, knock, knock knock knock.

The peephole of the door was opened, and a cold gaze from behind the door scrutinized the person outside.

"I'm here to order a batch of 'wine,' it's urgent."

The door opened with a bang.

The man standing behind the door had no left foot or right hand, and his face was covered with hideous scars.

After the man in the black cloak rushed in, the door slammed shut behind him.

The tavern was dimly lit, and all the people drinking there had their faces covered by cloaks.

The scarred man limped as he led the group to the back kitchen of the tavern, then lifted a wooden plank, revealing a secret passage behind it.

The man in the black cloak immediately slipped inside.

At the end of the road was an old wooden door, in front of which sat a small round table with parchment and an ink pen.

He stood in front of the wooden door and said in a deliberately altered voice, "My master urgently needs a batch of 'good wine'."

A voice came from behind the door, "Do you have a suitable wine delivery guy?"

The man in the black cloak said, "I need the best 'wine delivery guy'."

The other party fell into a brief silence.

"Do you mean 'the best wine delivery guy,' or 'our most outstanding wine delivery guy'?"

The man in the black cloak paused, then considered the matter cautiously.

Then, he reiterated his request, "I want the best 'wine delivery guy'."

"You said it yourself," the other party said curtly.

"Write down the 'delivery address,' 'delivery time,' and the recipient's name on a piece of paper, and nail it to the door along with the commission."

The man in the black cloak breathed a sigh of relief, picked up his fountain pen, and scribbled a line of text on the parchment on the round table.

[Constantinople, tonight, Ellie Cold Jade]

...

Constantinople is preparing to hold a grand celebratory banquet tonight.

The Cold Jade Knights and the newly established Blue Agate Knights are both on the invitation list.

Li Aili, carrying the box she had retrieved from the Adventurers' Guild, went straight into the alchemy shop.

Place the Water Flower and Terra Root into the cold storage.

She then picked a few ladies from the group who didn't fall asleep during the lecture and tried to teach them alchemy and medicine making.

"Where is Madam?!" came Anne's frantic voice from outside the door.

"My love rival is about to come knocking on my door! What is she doing??"

Li Aili had just come out of the Alchemy House when she heard such a 'stimulating' statement.

She immediately opened the door and asked with a gossipy look, "What love rival?"

Anne Sherman was so angry her chest was trembling, like an enraged bull, she stormed into the lady's bedroom and started pacing in circles.

Li Aili found it strange; the last time she saw her like this was when she had badmouthed Balk Sherman.

"Take a look for yourself!"

As she spoke, Anne Sherman slammed a crumpled letter onto the table.

Li Aili picked up the letter with curiosity.

【My most admired and beloved Duke of Cold Emerald:】

Li Aili: "..."

She glanced at the letter's closing, and saw a line of elegant, cursive handwriting that read:

[Written by Marquis Marina, who fell in love with you at the age of 15.]

Oh, that's alright then.

Skip the pointless, suggestive opening lines and start reading from the middle of the letter.

That's right, this king's illegitimate daughter used half a sheet of paper to seduce Arthur Cold Jade, who was already married.

Li Aili couldn't help but marvel at her 'profound family learning'.

My uncle told me some things about the territory. Sigh, I'm a weak woman, I don't understand you men's affairs, but I believe you must have your reasons for doing this. I can understand you; I'm just that sensible a woman.

In this respect, she's nothing like your wife. Forgive my bluntness, but she's too shallow. (Laughs.) Perhaps this will offend you a little, but I'm just stating my opinion frankly; after all, I genuinely care about you.

Li Aili: "..."

She put down the letter.

Joanna and Anne both looked at her with concern.

"Are you alright? Calm down... wait..." Annie was interrupted by Li Aili before she could finish speaking.

"It's nothing, I just choked on the tea flavor."

She skipped another quarter of the conversation about tea and continued reading.

I have obtained a 'pardon' from the Pope, and I hope to become another master of Constantinople.

She thought about the territory the duke had promised her.

Wouldn't it be better to be the lord of a territory, then refine gold and sell it to scoundrels for money?

It smells delicious!

Therefore, I sincerely wish this scheming female marquis success in taking the throne.

Finally, I will visit your Constantinople soon.

After reading it, Li Aili calmly put down the letter.

Joanna clenched her little fist. "Madam! I'll dress you up! I'll make sure you look beautiful tonight!"

Li Aili rolled her eyes. "What's the point of dressing up? It's a waste to show off to that jerk."

Anne narrowed her eyes slightly. "So, did the Duke cheat on his wife or not?"

Li Aili shrugged indifferently, "Who knows?"

They're not actually a married couple.

Besides, even real marriages can be complicated, right?

The young and beautiful illegitimate daughter of the king was granted the title of marquess at birth. Look at what she said in the letter—she was already secretly in love with that scoundrel at 15. Tsk.
