...
"What do you want?" The Duke asked as he entered the study in the south wing.
He completely ignored the minotaur grinning at him in the study and asked Li Aili in a gentler tone.
Li Aili awkwardly revealed her hand, which had been hidden behind her back. "Actually, it was her who contacted you."
On her palm, a tiny flower fairy fluttered its wings and flew up, "Oh dear, brother-in-law~ I have a favor to ask you."
The Duke's cold expression softened, and he raised his eyebrows slightly. "Brother-in-law?"
The flower fairy waved her little hand, "Oh, come on, this is someone's older sister, you're not her brother-in-law!"
As she spoke, the flower fairy flew to Li Aili's cheek and nuzzled it affectionately.
Duke Cold Jade said unhurriedly, "This is the first time I've heard that a flower fairy and a human can be sisters."
The flower fairy Alice said shyly, "Oh dear~ brother-in-law~ we're like half-sisters, even though we don't share the same father or mother~"
The repeated calls of "brother-in-law" instantly melted away the icy frost on the Duke's face.
The Duke walked to the sofa and sat down, tapping his fingers on the table. "I wonder what the name of your sister is..."
The flower fairy was very perceptive: "Brother-in-law~ Her name is Alice."
"So, I have an ex-ex ...
The Duke paused slightly as he tapped the table, his expression subtly changing in surprise at the series of 'previous' remarks.
"He's the chieftain of the centaur tribe. Oh, brother-in-law, what a coincidence! His sister, whose head was injured by a donkey when she was little, just happens to be 'visiting' the castle. Ahahaha~ brother-in-law~ that..."
The Duke lifted his eyelids, and his blue eyes made the flower fairy break out in a cold sweat.
"You...ex-boyfriend's sister, the one who assassinated my wife, your sister."
"Now, tell me again, what are you here for?"
The flower fairy shuddered and darted behind Li Aili in fright.
Li Aili couldn't help but speak up, "Arthur, that child might really have something wrong with his head..."
The Duke didn't look at her, and said calmly, "My dear, let me have a chat with your 'sister' alone for a while."
Li Aili gave the flower fairy a "good luck" look, then pulled the minotaur out.
The two of them squatted outside the study.
Li Aili comforted him, "It's the Duke, he won't be that cruel."
No sooner had he finished speaking than Balk, his dark mithril armor reeking of blood, stepped forward.
"Madam, please tell the Duke that the boy down there has confessed. Here is his statement."
The parchment filled with confessions was covered in blood.
Li Aili: "..."
Balk wiped the blood off his hands and turned to the knight behind him, saying, "As the Duke ordered, go to the dungeon and behead that brat, then hang his head in the central square."
Li Aili: "..."
Ba Jin, Niu Tizi: "..."
After Balk and his knights left, Bakkin's legs were trembling. "Boss, what did you say about the Duke...?"
Li Aili: "..."
Half an hour later, the flower fairy, looking completely blank, floated out of the study.
She was holding a piece of parchment in her hand.
Li Aili asked in a worried whisper, "Are you alright?"
The flower fairy slowly shook her head, then nodded frantically.
Li Aili: "...Are you alright?"
The flower fairy said with a weary expression, "I'm fine, but my ex-ex-ex-ex-ex-ex-ex-ex-boyfriend might be in big trouble."
She waved the paper in her hand, "Their entire clan might have to 'sell themselves' to those bastards inside!"
Li Aili: "..." Isn't he my brother-in-law?
The flower fairy cursed, "You hurry up and kick this 'devil' out, and I'll introduce you to a whole bunch of girls in no time..."
Before he could finish speaking, the Duke stepped out, his cold gaze fixed on the weak, pitiful, and helpless flower fairy. His deep, magnetic voice carried a chilling chuckle, "A bunch of what?"
The flower fairy shuddered, then solemnly grasped Li Aili's fingers, "Please, you two must be locked in a lifelong bond! You two must live happily ever after!!!"
Li Aili: "…………"
The Duke whispered an order to the knight guarding the door, and the knight immediately left with the flower fairy.
Li Aili speechlessly threw the blood-smeared 'confession' at him, saying, "You're really something."
The Duke looked down at the 'confession' and retorted, "You'll have the right to speak on whether I'm capable or not later."
Li Aili didn't react for a moment.
With a loud "boom," the confession was reduced to dust by the gloomy-faced duke.
Judging from the man's menacing demeanor, Li Aili wondered what the confession contained.
The Duke's brow was furrowed with gloom. "I will give you a satisfactory answer about this matter a year from now."
That concludes the conversation.
Back in her room, Li Aili soaked in the bathtub, blowing bubbles, and went over the whole incident in her mind.
I speculate on the possible contents of that confession.
For the Duke to say he'd wait another year... that means the other side's power is at least on par with Arthur Cold Jade.
In the Kingdom of Clark, there are only a few factions.
First, the royal family.
Second, in the year 912 of the Rainbow Dragon Era, the kingdom experienced the 'Three Kings' Rebellion,' in which two other dukes participated.
Wolf, the Demon Wolf Duke of the Northern Snow Country.
And, the pomegranate duke of the South, "Brandon".
Both dukes are knights, and their rank is the same as that of the Cold Emerald Duke, both being Platinum Grand Knights.
Who could it be...?
Li Aili came out of the bathroom, threw herself onto the bed, rolled over, curled up like a silkworm, and fell into a deep sleep.
