The goblins have already begun building their castle.
Li Aili's letter was sent out, but it couldn't stop the goblins who had already received the money from working.
The castle was still under construction, and Li Aili was getting increasingly annoyed watching the goblins digging the foundation.
Is this castle a burden she can bear?
Breakfast was potatoes and pumpkin again.
Joanna racked her brains and made them incredibly delicious.
Buttered potato pancakes, served with a sweet and sour sauce, and fresh pork, pumpkin, and potato pie.
Li Aili took a deep breath and said to Joanna, "Darling, I think we can put the cultivation of new crops on the schedule."
Even if potatoes and pumpkins are delicious, you can't eat them every day.
Trade is currently suspended, so the pumpkins and potatoes cannot be sold.
Maintaining the system with cryogenic agents incurs continuous costs.
So Joanna decided to turn all the pumpkins and potatoes she had in stock into food and eat them.
Seeing her thoughts, Li Aili said helplessly, "Unfortunately, the Tankar elves don't like this kind of gigantic food."
"We can't count on the Merchants' Guild for now."
"It's better to rely on yourself than to ask others for help."
After finishing breakfast, Joanna began clearing away the dishes.
Li Aili held a steaming cup of black tea, sipping it slowly as she whispered to Joanna:
"Have Ox Hoof organize a caravan to sell the giant plants to the nearby lords."
"Emerald Valley is bordered by five forces, including Tankar and four others."
"Among these four forces, there are three kingdoms and an imperial border."
Li Aili poured some tea onto the wooden dining table.
He dipped his finger in the tea and began to write and draw, “Tankar can’t accept giant crops, but Danton City might be able to.”
Joanna reminded her, "But the Danton Merchant Guild..."
Li Aili thought about it and figured the Chamber of Commerce wouldn't hold such a grudge against her.
"That's not a problem. On the contrary, there's something else I need to hear your opinions on."
"Regarding punishment..."
As they were talking, Edward's voice came through the window, "Your Highness!"
Li Aili quickly stood up and walked out of the cabin.
Edward rushed over and, before he even reached Li Aili, shouted, "Many refugees have come from outside the city, and there's also a paladin!"
Li Aili: "???"
Ellie quickly followed Edward out of the city gate.
As soon as I stepped out of the city gate, I was stunned by the sight outside.
There, a hundred or so people, dressed in tattered clothes and carrying burlap sacks, sat at the gate of Emerald Valley, their faces covered in dust.
Ben Karsa, leading the remaining 15 Golden Knights, vigilantly guarded the city gate.
They were not wary of the refugees, but of a knight who stood out among them.
It was a knight dressed in pure white, luminous armor.
His armor gleamed in the light, his golden hair shone brightly in the sunlight, and he looked down at a skinny little girl.
The little girl was so thin she looked like a bean sprout.
The knight untied the food bag from his waist, handed the biscuits inside to the little girl, and gently patted the top of her head.
Then, he placed his hand on the little girl's bleeding knee and healed her with holy light.
Hearing footsteps, the knight looked in the direction of the sound and was caught off guard to see Li Aili, whose fair cheeks were flushed pink from running.
The pure white light in the knight's hand went out instantly, like a gas stove that had run out of gas.
The person suddenly stood up, but tripped over their own feet and almost fell flat on their face.
It's hard to imagine that this is a Templar Knight.
After that fall, it was hard for Li Aili not to glance at the handsome knight.
Upon closer inspection, the person looked somewhat familiar.
Huh?
Isn't this paladin in white armor the same one who stopped the Elf King's carriage earlier?
Li Aili remembered that his previous ride was now Fisher-Nankey's car.
So, she blurted out, "Tankar isn't here, he's to the south."
The paladin's ears turned red, and he dared not look directly at Li Aili. He stammered, "I...I know!"
The man took a deep breath, calmed himself down, and looked at Li Aili seriously.
It was hard for Li Aili to pretend not to see the passion in his eyes.
"That's where I came from!"
"I, Augustus Saint-Nich, wish to become your guardian knight!"
His words landed with a resounding force, drawing a flurry of glances from the surrounding refugees.
Li Aili: "..."
With hundreds of people in front of them, Li Aili, considering the paladin's reputation, couldn't directly refuse.
She had no choice but to tactfully change the subject, asking, "What's going on with these people?"
When the conversation turned to business, Augustus's expression suddenly became serious. "On my way here, I happened to run into them being chased by some guards."
Then, the paladin, seeing injustice, drew his sword to help the weak and punish the wicked.
Typical Paladin behavior.
This reminded Li Aili of a certain ex.
That person was simply an 'outlier' among paladins.
Augustus spoke, bringing Li Aili back to her senses about leaving, "Some of them seem to recognize your territory."
"I find something suspicious."
After saying that, he raised his hand and pointed out the family that had led the way to Li Aili.
The family was acting suspiciously, constantly glancing at Li Aili.
When the knight escorting them pointed in their direction, they shrank back like frightened ostriches, hiding behind the crowd and not daring to show their faces.
Upon seeing this familiar family, Li Aili raised an eyebrow.
Looking at the hundreds of refugees this family had brought, Li Aili slightly curled the corners of her lips. The willow saplings she had casually planted earlier had now yielded results.
